This coaster was built by Custom Coasters International which was basically formed from the Dinn Corporation. Both companies, more notably Dinn, are known for building huge roller coasters that age horribly. The most notable examples include the Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas, Mean Streak at Cedar Point, GhostRider at Knotts Berry Farm and the Infamous Psyclone at Six Flags Magic Mountain( thankfully this one has been put to rest). Both companies are defunct now.
Out of all of those coasters, the only on that's CCI is GhostRider at Knotts. What you have to realize is that ride is run all year round, compared to most rides that run for maybe 5-7 months of the year. That means GhostRider runs twice as much as most coasters its age, making it feel twice as old. To me it seems as if it's running well for a "20 year old coaster"
People are saying that it's rough as hell. I've been riding it for about 7 years now, and it's been smooth the past 2. They relaid some of the track, so it's almost like riding a new ride again, except I know the layout. :P
@davidjellis dude, wooden coasters are rough, whats the point of a smooth wooden coaster, why would they be made out of wood, thats for steel coasters lol.
@JDrockerDUDE - Don't get me wrong...I love riding wooden coasters...and I enjoy powerful woodies, and certainly I expect at the end of a ride to know I have been on a coaster...but there is a fine line between powerful / intense / boistrous and the plain simple uncomfortable. I would give a rough coaster a run for its money, but I also enjoy coasters I can sit on all day.
I went on this ride the day after my 17th birthday three years ago. I hated it......when I got off my bottom lip was bleeding from biting down on it. But watching this makes me want to say, "screw it, I'm getting on!!"
Next time I go on this my cousin will be laughing

It wasn't rough when I rode it 10 years ago. At that time it instantly became my number 1 woodie.
davidjellis 2 years ago
