  • Can you sync various ical colored calendars with Android/Google Calendar with Lion? I know you can add Google Accounts to ical...and technically I can sync and get t hints to show up but I can't figure out how to still use my individual colored calendars (i.e. blue for work; red for casual etc). In ical, for ADD ACCOUNT< I was told to leave it as AUTOMATIC, and just add my gmail account and password

  • @ Jordan: Thanks for the great tutorial, but I have a problem. When I upload my .ics-file Google Calendar says that my file cannot be uploaded, since I don't have the enough access to the calendar. How do I fix this? And another question: Am I supposed to sync Ical with Google Calendar every day? Thanks! :)

  • Ok, thanks to this video I finally managed to get iCal appointments into my google calendar (before that it only worked one way) - but only if I mark the event as a google calendar event. Whcih means I can no longer use different colours.

Hm :-/ It was kind of useful to distinguish between work and private stuff and deadlines with different colours.

Still - one step closer to using a droid phone with an apple mac book

    Thanks!

  • Got my Android singing with my iCal. Really good tutorial.

  • Jordan

I keep getting a request error on my ical when my calendars refresh. It is not the same calendar everytime. It seems to move from one calendar to another. ANy answers

  • @JordanTheCheapGeek I am having a problem with syncing 3 way with my ical/google calendar/android phone, and I am having some problems with CalDAV. when I sign in with caldav on ical it works perfectly for either a few seconds or a few days, it is totally random, then it will say that the username or password is incorrect. Any ideas? Would it help if I posted a recording of what is happening as a video response to this video? Thanks for any help!!

  • I realize that this video is fairly old but followed your instructions to the T in an attempt to try and sync my iCal calendars to Google calendar. I exported my iCal calendars and then imported them into my Google calendar. I then went back to iCal and created a CalDAV account for my Google calendar. The problem I'm having is when I move an event or create a new event within iCal and I switch over to my Google calendar and hit refresh, nothing changes or shows up. Any thoughts?

  • Excellent! Brilliant!

  • Helpful video ... Not sure I need Mobile Me ... now ... thanks

  • Dude, Great Tutorial! Very well done :D

  • Great Information-

  • Hey thanks for the video! In Google Calendars I have my hockey schedule downloaded in the other calendars section, but only that calendar isn't syncing with iCal. Can you help?

  • Thank you, this video is just what I was looking for!

  • How can I sync multiple google calendars? I have multiple google calendars to help keep track of different types of appointment, but this only syncs my main google calendar

  • Thanks..you completely answered my question.

  • This was really helpful. Thank you.

  • Thank you very much. You helped me a lot. Excelent tutorial. :)

  • thanks man! superb video!!

  • Well, that's great!

But what if i want to sync two calendars on from my gmail?

    Like 'Home' And 'Work'

  • Quick question, If you sync google calendar to ical, and in some unlikely reason google lost all your data, would it still be in ical? or would it sync to google and zero all your data?

I know you can export but you cant do that every day either???

or is it not worth talking about!!!!

  • i did everything the video told me to do, and it said "successfully uploaded 11 events" but my events never showed up on my google calendar!

    any help would be appreciated!

  • It appears that to sync multiple calendars you would need to use another google account.

  • @JordanTheCheapGeek is there any possibility for multiple calenders yet? Because probably every human in the world would use more than just a general calender for his whole life.... i am wondering how they could not integrate this. it makes the whole thing somewhat useless.

  • Jordan, please help. I was able to syn my google cal with ical but the ical events are not showing in google cal. I got this message: Successfully imported 742 events but nothing shows in gcal. (Mac 10.6.4, ical 4.0.3) What am I missing?

  • @ChrisDurb same problem i am having!

  • Wondering if I have the same question as izeq. I understand from Google's "Known Issues" page that I cannot create new calendars in iCal and have them show up in Google, but I would like to keep my calendars color coded. Thus, is there ANY way to have Google calender keep my iCal colors so that even on my iPhone I can have the same colors for events?

  • Can you delete the ics files on the desktop afterwards?

  • I think you need a .mac account for this to work

  • works fine, BUT it is importing/exporting NOT syncing

  • that is exporting/importing NOT syncing

  • Hi, I'm having trouble when importing the ics files into google. It says this "Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file.." I exported them onto my desktop just as you said. Can anyone help?

  • Is there anyway to automaticly sync iCal and Google Calender in OSX 10.5, or that something that is only available in OSX 10.6?

  • Thanks so much!

  • Jordan... Thanks for this video, but I'm having trouble. When you go into your ical and set up your new account, I don't have the options to choose google... in fact, my window doesn't look the same as yours at all... i have the most updated version of ical so i don't really understand what's going on. I REALLY need to be able to enter in information into my ical and have it sync to my google calendar. Thanks for the help! Smiles, Jess

  • I followed this, but I ended up with duplicates of everything in iCal because each event showed as anther event with the same name and time. To clean up the view I uncheck the display for the gmail calendar in iCal, but it's not really a proper sync, so much as an import.

  • Hey, I've found this very useful, but I am experiencing issues.

I have another third party app that updates my ical, and for the google one, it is marked as read only, there is no way for this app to sync the events coming from my mobile into that calendar...

Do you know any alternatives? Perhaps I am missing something. Since you are a heavy user of this feature, you may be familiarized more. I have a blackberry phone. I hope you can reply here at this box.

    Thanks in advance.

  • TOTALLY USELESS

  • @looods Why is useless? It's perfect for me who want to use iCal as primary application for desktop usage and also knowing it's syncs to my Google-account where it syncs to my Android phone... :)

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I thought this would be so much more difficult. JUST WHAT I NEEDED!!!

  • : ( what if i don't have snow leopard?

guess i go buy it tomorrow just cus its only $25

  • great vid. i just get paranoid: how far back do my calander's go? what if google calendar crashes? i would like a copy of the calendar on my computer. how do you do that?

  • What version of ical are you using? It is not working for me...I have version 3.0.8 of ical

  • love the music used on ur video.

  • where did u get those dark grey folders?

  • doesn't work for me

  • What problems are you having, I would be happy to help?

  • How can you get live updates on multiple calendars?

  • @JordanTheCheapGeek Does'nt work for me either, i can create an event in gcal and it'll transfer down to ical but not the other way around :(

  • Awesome video Jordan. Wanted to figure out how to do that exactly.. This totally helped. Thanks
