  • triple jump is about the speed you keep between each jumps you do to get more distance for a farther jump

  • A great athlete and a gentleman too. Finally he won Olympic Gold in Sydney.

  • Comment removed

  • his PB where

    100m:10.48

    triple jump: 18.29m WR

    long jump: 7.41m

  • Fuck, his legs must be ALL fast-twitch muscle

    (exagerration, but yeh)

  • no, he wasnt that fast. he ran like 10.50 in the 100. he just her a great weight to force ratio. and perfection of the form

  • Yeah but his acceleration over the first 30m is meant to be like godly, which is what counts for triple jump, so he is pretty damn fast where it counts haha

  • yeah 10.5 not fast at all...

  • @jive87 for a triple jumper it is because its not all about speed

  • Around 57 or so idk

  • its actually closer to 60'. it's over 59', but i'm not sure by how far

  • Like a a 50 something feet.

  • Whats 18.16 in standard measurement?

  • Well, feet aren't standard measurement... but to answer your question that's about 59 1/2 feet, which is basically 60 feet.

  • thats not poor dude..17.67 is great..b4 edwards hit 18 he was clocking like 17.88 and those distances.

  • LOL, the meter stops at 18

  • this is unbelievable

    - does anyone know whats more important to help you jump better in triple jump...calves or thighs?

  • thighs dude for the hop and step, but definately calves for jump..focus on the thighs more tho, for theyll help u get the best possible hop and best step u can get.

  • i also forgot to mention he use the weight/strength of his leg to carry him farther/ higher in the air

  • how the heck does he do that with his physique

    could someone explain???

    HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW

  • speed and flexiblity

  • Flexibility my arse

  • in any track event, flexibility is important, i'm in track and i know being flexible helps in any event

  • MOMENTUM(speed and body mass)...u need to swing the knees forward to help drive the body and to also get the legs high enuf for the next phase..also, he uses his arms to help keep the momentum between speed loss during phases.

  • woah

  • Awesome

    Lovezz it ^^

I'm only... What... 9 metres behind?! Lol.

    Not far, not far.

    :S

  • hehe im 7 :p how old r u?

  • el ser humano no tiene limites. menos gasolina y mas deporte

  • love that jump, i gotta use it to write synoptic essays on for my sport studies :P

  • Believe it or not... he was one of the strongest athletes in terms of weight lifting etc... except his physic doesnt show it. I remember a little discussion on that on a program on the BBC a few years a go. Thats were his explosiveness comes from... his natural strength.

  • dimension doesn't count that much especially in jumps.

  • And those stupid yanks say white men can't jump!?!?

  • @Speeedo86 nooo, the stupid BLACK yanks say white men cant jump.

  • think about how good he could be as a long jumper i mean he can do around 9m per jump and i dnno what the world record for long jump is but i dnno that sounds prety good

  • long jump record is 8.95!he never realy prepared long jump but he wouldn't have reached those levels, his ability was not loosing speed in between his 3 jumps

  • also some people dont need huge legs to jump like kadour ziani, just tough tendons and fast twitch muscles etc.

  • He was awesome.

  • It's more than 7 meters (6m + 5m + 7m aprox.)

  • wow he done all together 18 i can onli do 5

  • Does anyone know how far his last (of the three) jump was? It was incredible how far he launched himself with that last stride.

  • Although his legs aren't huge, they are very strong. Some people, like Edwards, can never obtain "huge" legs naturally because of their DNA.. However he has the quintensentail build for a triple jumper -- he is lanky. So I'm guessing his core and legs are incredibly well conditioned, and even if they aren't physically big they sure can deliver.

  • Hey but his legs dont look so huge?? can someone explain where all that explosive power comes from?

  • pole vault? how do you figure? i think he needs to keep triple jumping buddy..

  • he woulda been better at pole vault

  • I believe he had it at 17.98 and his next jump in this meet I beleive was his current WR of 18.29

  • what was the recoerd before he broke it?

  • incredible how he carries his hips through in the last jump, as if he was sitting on a chair. Just unbelievable power. thanks for posting this.

  • Wow looks like a spring.
