@glitteryglitz12 It will be easier to eat if it is packed, they will stay in a nice square form when cut. If it goes in loose, it may be hard to cut into squares that will stay that way when picked up.
Side note---there is no reason to put "umm" before a question. Your question was well worded and spelled correctly on it's own. :)
oh my gosh thanks you for this! I always wondered if I could make my own these came out great! I added chocolate chips to them at the end. These taste great the longer they sit. I've made them three times since seeing this :)
For a wonderful oatmeal bar ...try this.......add walnuts (toasted in a fry pan with a lil butter till golden...) add half a cup of raisinsand the toasted walnuts to the oatmeal mixture at the micro bubbly stage.... and make a frosting with a lil over half of a 16 oz. pkg. of cream cheesem(softened) 1/2 cup powdered sugar,1 teaspoon vanilla.....mix well till blended smooth..if too thick, add a few drops of milk.....spread on cooled oatmeal loaf....SOOOO GOOD....
They look lovely, I've made these several times before, with a lot of different outcomes lol. We call these flapjacks in England, and usually use Lyle's Golden syrup instead of corn syrup or honey. My favourite is adding chopped glace cherries to the oats then using almond essence in white icing, tastes just like cherry bakewells :-)
I made them last night - soaked the raisins in a little water with cinnamon and nutmeg, added some chopped walnuts and almonds and they were great. I did however, get lazy and not measure the peanut butter, so the frosting stayed soft. It's good, but not tidy, so the bars are in the fridge. I may even freeze them so they'll be fresh this week for camping. Thanks for the recipe - I'll keep it. Maybe with dates or craisins or dried apricots chopped into small pieces...
Oh, I took your advice and used the honey. Excellent choice. But with the extra peanut butter, the topping didn't harden so they had to go into the fridge. We split one the other night and they were fine - but I also followed your advice about not packing it down; just *gently* patted and stopped. So thanks for making the errors for me! :)
We made a big batch of granola a while back and that is what they reminded me of, sans chocolate and peanut butter + lots of other yummy stuff. My husband sprinkles the granola over his yogurt every morning. Hugs!
Another yummy easy one. I wanna know why you guys aren't as big as a house. It must be all the cold weather burning up the calories just to maintain body heat.
i tried this and loved it

Can we use instant oatmeal instead of regular oats? Is there a difference?
OreoDucky 5 months ago
@OreoDucky There is a difference between the two, but it won't matter for this recipe, use either/or.

do you have to add the chocolate sauce cause i dont eat chocolate

@321677841 I suppose you could leave that out, but in my opinion it wouldn't be very good

is poradge oats da same plz reply i want to make today!!!!!X
dakotafan123x 2 years ago
The recipe I used called for "quick cooking oats" written right on the package. I'm not sure how they will turn out with "regular oats".
The regular oats are usually large flake size.
If your oats are in little pieces instead of flakes, you should be ok.

The cinnamon and nutmeg sound great! The variations on this are endless.
Mine got rock hard in the fridge (I put them there to harden the chocolate topping quickly), I had to let them sit out a bit to soften!
Did you use corn syrup or honey?
