  • Incredibly f*ckin' brave..Gotta give him that !

  • Deep fried heroin if I could get it.

  • This guy is so monotonous... Makes me want to go to sleep.

  • @Eddiebhoy1888 Sleep is good for you.

  • Is Steward the 'Bastard Son' of Conrad Black, aka 'Lord Black of Cross Harbor' by chance? (snicker)

    The resemblance is striking

  • Look at the fat bloke with the beard in the crowd. He is PISSED XD

  • With maybe one or two exceptions seems like a pretty good audience. ^^

  • Big Beardy was not amused.

  • @mayer8356 Keep watching, he eventually gets (...warms to) it

  • @RogerWhip Hahaha clever

  • Beardy fatty hates it! Its a joke you dour cunt

  • I always find it weird when the two top rated comments are people at opposite ends of an argument...you'd think enough people who liked one of the comments would vote the other one down until it disappeared from the top comments section.

  • @BoJanglezzzzzz But alot ov people find stuff like that a fourm ov 'cencorship' which none ov us like.

  • @CyanideSovereign Well surely by that logic even having top comments is a form of censorship- they censor out every comment that's not a top comment (i.e. most of them) because people vote those two comments up and don't do the same for others. This isn't my view of course, but I just don't think not having two comments which contradict each other as the top comments is a form of censorship.

  • brilliant concept, perfectly executed. love the face on the large man near the front who is trying to work out whether this is ok or not

  • It's funny because i'm ethnically welsh, scottish, irish, and english, but i know less about either of them compared to people who actually live in the uk. and ireland because i'm american lol.

  • @kylem1112 Steer clear of films like Braveheart the, or you'll know even less.

  • He's asking for a punch in the face, but this is hilarious! So many props for the people for Glasgow having such a great sense of humour.

  • Michale kane and ray liota had sex and made.....stew.....lee stew The crerpy thing is he has a little bit of their sensibilities on top of looking like them

  • Lee's comic timing is insanely good--I had to watch the same clip a few times to really get it.

  • Politically Correct Twats love this sort of comedy. Give me George Carlin over this guy any day!

  • Comment removed

  • Not really laugh out loud 'funny' but still entertaining. I like it.

  • comedy for 'up their own arse' ponces.

  • @markzilla6969 You mean articulate and intelligent individuals. Its ok to sneer but your comment probably makes you look less bright than you actually are.

  • He probably did....

  • This is as close to perfection as it gets. A masterclass.

  • 5:04

  • Scots got owned

  • lol "racist!" if u see this as racist....you truly are a moron......

  • Are the Scotch a race then? if I looked at their DNA would it be different to mine? a frenchman?

  • i think that youre all missing the point. he is in glasgow where this is filmed. if his comments are so objectionable then why doesnt he get heckled? the crowd are lapping it up due to the surrealism and the irony of the comment being made. what would be the point of going to glasgow and just launching a rant against the crowd, its the sheer insanity of the comments made that the audience find intriguing.

  • Ha ha ha. 'Peter Kay...a simpleton...and a large part of his audience are'. Have you personally profiled them? If Steward Lee became really popular and got a show on BBC1 you'd probably start hating him cos he'd be popular and all the 'chavs' would tune in. 'I saw that band when no-one liked them, I saw them before you, I've got all their early stuff, you only liked them when they got big, I saw them first...' Ha ha ha. Pretentious twat.

  • @richievegas01 He had a show on BBC 2. Does that count?

  • @richievegas01 wow what a moron

  • @netscapepizza I didn't even say I liked Peter Kay if you care to read the comment again. I'm sorry, I must have lost the application form to like this stuff in the post or smehting. Hey, what's it's like up in your Beautiful Purity booth by the way? We're discussing television. The mass medium. Anyone can watch it, it's not elitist, unlike you. Now fuck off.

  • @netscapepizza you know for an 'educated person' you have a very closed mind. Why should something be intellectual to be considered good? Can someone not find both ends of the scale funny without being a simpleton? Stop insulting people on youtube just to make yourself feel as though youre above everyone, its fuckin laughable man.

  • @LancashireHotpot27 Yeah but Peter Kay isn't funny

  • @LancashireHotpot27 My favourite part of Peter Kay's act is when he remembers things that were around ages ago and then says "What were that all about?!" Comic genius.

  • @pages2 Did you see the sketch that Vic & Bob did on (Peter Kaye) Shooting Stars?...twoz hilarious

  • @richievegas01 do you not do your basic research?

  • @chalkus You need to do basic research to watch television? Well, that's news to me, that must be where I've been going wrong all these years. Do I need to revise before I listen to music as well? I was listening to The Rolling Stones before, and I don't know all their middle names. Guess I'll have to stop then. Not.

  • @richievegas01 Nope, before commenting and making statement as fact, you need to make sure said comment is factually correct

  • @LancashireHotpot27 You forgot to say that you've got a purty back and can lift heavy things :)

  • Ha Ha, people actualy shouting out "Scottish"!!

Don't they know who they'vepaid to watch....

  • @MrSheffield8 Damn right. And it seems some of the commenters on this video don't know who they've stumbled across whilst looking for jokes about garlic bread.

  • I can only admire the balls of Stewart Lee :D

  • Ha I was watching an interview with Stewart Lee recently and he said the camera man was instructed to zoom in on the most uncomfortable looking members of the audience, rather than the laughing ones during his shows.

This is fairly apparent at 4:05 ! That bloke really doesn't want to smile!

  • Lucky to get out alive....Class!

  • @edinman123 Despite dumb Scots not getting the irony, the Scotch are alright.

  • "Sexual opportunism in my past..." Wow, what he is talking about?

  • "Technically I am Scotch"... not a joke for fools.

  • This is glorious and truly comic genius.

  • the worst kind of pedophile that there is...funny

  • 'im not saying he didnt, he probably did, he definitely did'

  • lucky to get out a live

  • Oh my god, 3:20. Some idiot actually shouts out, 'Scottish!' when Stuart Lee says 'I always knew I was Scotch'.

    Stuart Lee 1 - 0 Moron

  • legend

  • Chairmaneoin...................blimey mate, are you richard herring under a nome de plume/

  • This is literally hilarious!

  • I feel alien like him too :)

  • why do you feel alien?

  • @pezzer32 I live in a world, filled with people who think that religion is more important than science, and that the universe is only 6000 years old. These people also think that a small cluster of cells, is equal to an entire living human

People who are well adjusted to a sick world, are sick people

If you still don't understand why someone would feel alien amongst these kinds of people, then you likely are closer to them, than you might think... Take care, and I hope you have a good day :)

  • @ TheReasonWhyGuy

Well, I feel Alien as well then. Fortunately, here, in Holland, people generally think science is more important than religion, and that the univers is more than 60000 years old....

  • This was so funny when he started talking about Braveheart! I almost cried of laughter. I even watched it twice.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm scottish and you don't understand irony. Yes, look at him, IT'S A JOKE! he even makes it blaringly obvious for cretins like you who don't understand irony by mentioning his "crass generalisationa" and telling his jokes as part of a comedy act rather than a political rally or informative documentary.

You are a chav, I've already talked to you about this. Chavs listen to shitty dance music, use bad grammar, are obnoxious, can't spell and use text speak.

  • And your failure to effectively address previous arguments against you just demonstrates what a pathetic creature you are.

Grow up, if you don't like a comedian then don't buy his dvds or watch his material, it's not like he's an insanely popular comedian, infact he's on the border with the underground scene. I don't complain about Peter Kay and I think he's an ignorant, simpleton.

Calling a humanist university graduate a chav is like calling a timbaland fan an intellectual.

  • Part of the humour in this joke is that he says that he doesn't make generalizations about people from other countries then continues to slip in sweeping generalizations about Scottish people, you can actually hear the audience laugh as they understand the joke and you don't.

Another more subtle part of the joke is the fact that it almost seems excusable because he reffers to "us" and "our" when talking about scottish people as - at least in the joke - his real father was scottish. Get it now?

  • Comedians don't need to spell everything out when they're in small comedy clubs talking to intelligent people because they're not broadcasting to chavs, my favourite example, Peter Kay, has to use incredibly obvious jokes not only because he's a simpleton but because a large part of his audience are and if he were subtle they would not be able to figure out what the funny bit was.

I think the root of the problem is not Stewart being 'racist' but you being an idiot.

  • @Chairmaneoin wht do you just hang on this page all day waitin for someone to say bad comments u dumb fuck, get a life u must look at him all day & nite u battyman

  • @Chairmaneoin

Wow. i agree totally with your comment; besides berating Peter Kay. His comedy (and his audience) is just different, no more or less amusing...on differing levels perhaps; but to imply he - and/or his audience as 'simpleton' just seems a bit snobbish.

I can enjoy both performers as very individual entertainers. I'm sure S.Lee would respect P.Kay's work, too.

    Let's all just have a giggle :)

  • @Chairmaneoin ey up, PONSE alert. Peter Kay is not a simpleton my friend. He happens to be the most popular and most successful comedian in the country at the moment. If you dont believe that just check his ticket sales. Also, i love Peter Kay, ands also think Stuart Lee is very funny. You dont need to be clever to find stu funny and dont need to be thick to find Peter funny. To se hes a simpleton is just ridculous. Are you that much of a ponse really?

  • @LancashireHotpot27 It's spelt "ponce" you imbecile, and Peter Kay might not be a simpleton but his comedy routine is lowest common denominator garbage that appeals to simpletons.

If you know a person who likes Peter Kay then you can pretty much stop taking them seriously at all because they are definitely a moron.

  • @LancashireHotpot27 Popularity does NOT equate to talented or good. Look at x-factor

  • @Chairmaneoin

Yeah, I hate chavs too. People who are poor and wear cheap clothes and have accents that I don't have are scum. Also, people who aren't as educated as me are scum as well. Some people think this is harsh given that I am a student at Cambridge University. But they are just stupid chavs. Fuck them.

  • @Chairmaneoin Have you seen Srewart talking about Al murray? He says exactly what you just said, he says; "missing the point, and laughing - like the dogs they are". It's superb.

  • @Chairmaneoin Have you seen Srewart talking about Al murray? He says exactly what you just said, he says; "missing the point, and laughing *with bared teeth - like the dogs they are". It's superb.

  • fuck off and listen to lee, he's a genius

  • Comment removed

  • That's why you're not given the chance to make any important decisions - because you're a moron.

  • Comment removed

  • Thinking that only Prime Ministers make important decisions is part of what makes you a moron.

  • Comment removed

  • what comedians do you like?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Well your welcome to your opinion, but i think Peter Kay a mans who's career has consisted of unfunny comments that are apparently made funny because he has a Bolton accent. Its much the same with Michael McIntyre, just exchange Bolton accent for Posh accent.

  • Then stop spending so much time loading up his videos. Moron.

  • Search YouTube for "Naked Gun Epic Facepalm".

  • learn to speak english.

"if u dnt like it stop replying 2 me " by your logic, if you don't like stewart lee then stop commenting on his videos.

That my friend is a hideous double standard.

  • you think you "apply" to be prime-minister.

Stewart Lee is an intelligent comedian for intelligent people. You can go and watch Peter Kay if you like, he's more the plebian comedian. Perfect for an uneducated twat like yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, I'm a dishwasher because I'm sixteen, I'm also a payed musician and student.

I'm more intelligent than you. I can spell and I have the general baseline intellect to know you don't apply to be prime minister. Whereas you can't even make a point without contradicting yourself.

Stewart Lee is not only a funny, intelligent man but a good one at that, a humanist. Which is more than i think will ever be said for you.

Stewart is disliked by Plebs... but so are books and classical music.

  • And the award for the most modest man in Britain goes to......

You may well be smarter than this lad you're arguing with but you should probably go take some lessons in humilty because your posts reek of self importance

  • I didn't think I was being self important, just demonstrating how danny5766 is an idiot, perhaps I bigged myself up in the process but meh. point acknowledged.

  • Apologies mate, only realised danny5766 was such a troll after I posted that

    Give him hell!

  • @popjoeandco thanks. I can stop pretending to be a polite person now. haha

  • @Chairmaneoin

Danny5766 is a cunt, but you like Animal Farm.

  • And? I live in the country, the idea of an animal proletariat helps puts the locals off shagging sheep.

  • @popjoeandco And the award for most sanctimonious man in Britain..... People should take better care to ensure they informed about issues they choose to rant about in public domains.

  • @tmason1987

Not in Britain myself....but point taken!

  • Oh and looking at your channel is enough for me to deduce; You're a chav. You listen to infantile dance music with little technical, musical or programming skill. If you're going to listen to electronic music then listen to IDM or industrial music before you try to defend your intelligence. You don't make a very good case for yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • And that comment just proves my point.

"go suck his dick" is hardly a valid argument. You fail at dialogue. It seems odd as well that you can't be bothered to type the full word 'for' but you feel it necesary to put two As in 'yaa'.

Oooh I'm going to get hunted down if I point out more of your flaws that you somehow manage to give away even in anonymity, I'm utterly terrified of your empty threat...

You really are an absolute cretin. Get back to your tracksuits and homophobia, chav scum.

  • The dishwasher argument is stale btw. I'm 16, I have a lot of other things I have to do since I'm studying so I can hopefully become a biologist or film music composer, something I doubt a chav like yourself will ever acheive. Try another one.

  • Comment removed

  • I'll tell you why. Because I hate obnoxious idiots. it's not my life story to say I don't have a full time job because I'm studying to do a more intellectually taxing job. It's called a retort.

Stewart is not a dick head, you are, you leave rude comments for no reason, he makes comedy.

In short, Me smart, you stupid. Stop being a chav and read some decent books, learn to spell, learn how to argue and debate, don't expect anyone to take a chav's opinion seriously except the daily mail and BNP.

  • Oh yeah, and you replied aswell so that argument's invalid.

  • Here that is so fucking funny. Anyone here who thinks he's being racist is a fucking retard!

  • "A Scottish Peadophile. The worst kind..." hahahahahaha

  • pmslmao

  • As someone with a Scottish father, I find this hilarious!

  • Good for you!

  • I can't believe how many mild-brained idiots there are out there. If you can't spot the irony, or the tongue in cheek performances Stewart lee does - Please don't try and flame it.

  • Oh you mean don't comment if you don't agree how liberal!

  • He is funny but it's alright to take the mickey out of white scottish/irish/english but not blacks or asians or any other race of people. I.E the poles, thats not pc thats hypocritical

  • @hididdlyho82

When it comes to taking the piss you should always stick to what you understand, otherwise it just comes across as pig ignorance i.e Jim Davidson.

  • I don't agree with that I think he's just trying a bit to hard to be pious, and ultimately picking on a easy target!

  • An easy target? Calling William Wallace a paedophile in front of a room full of Glaswegians can hardly be called an easy target.

  • yeah but at the start he mentions he's adopted and his real fathers scottish! So I guess he's (taking the piss out of what he understands!) Or he's ignorant! I don't care I think he's really funny! But some Bernard Manning jokes are funny not all some are just nasty!Shelley was Irish by the way Stuart if your reading this!

  • @hididdlyho82

    Shelley was English btw.

  • Shelley Father was Irish though!LOL

  • I dont think its a case of him not telling jokes about Black people or Ethnic groups, They're just not included because thats how he's written his material. Why are you looking for the angle of oh its hypocritical when its clearly not............I guess you either read The Sun or the Daily Mail...??

  • What do you read? I think if it's justifiable for someone to mock someone and get a laugh out of it it's comedy! Stewart Lee wasn't being out there and clever doing this performance quite the opposite. If it's done on a stage and not directed at a particular individual how can that be racist. If it's socially acceptable to mock certain people why not others? Thats racist!

  • I understand your point, but again I ask you who says you cant tell jokes about ethnic minorities? No one.

Jim Davidson is generaly lambasted by his peers for being racist. Its the tone of delivery thats seperates him from someone like frankie boyle.

My point was that maybe he does do jokes about ethnic minorities just maybe, just maybe they wernt written into a joke about scots attitudes towards the english.

  • Jim Davidson once asked a venue to move it's disabled members of the audience to be moved from the front as they would 'spoil his act'.

In other words, most of his act consisted of mocking disabled people and he couldn't justify it so felt uncomfortable with their presence.

In contrast Stewart Lee credited his Scottish audience with the intelligence to both understand and laugh at the routine.

If you can't see the difference between irony and hypocrisy I pity you.

  • Yeah to be honest, I don't really like Jim Davidson as his jokes normally aren't funny ( the punch line usually is a bad accent or a unfunny racial comment)but if he was funny I'd laugh, regardless of who they were about! It's not Davidsons tone that seperates him from Boyle, it's the fact he just doesn't tell any funny jokes! Therefore isn't funny!

  • Irony, hypocrisy whatevers funny is funny thats my point! I still persist with that argument that he wouldn't do a gig calling Dr Martin Luther King a Pedo in Brixton or wherever or Allah a nonce in a muslim community, because Stewart Lee would be forever hounded for being racist! I like Stewart Lees comedy and my comment wasn't really about him more the kind of society we live in! Where some racisim is exceptable i.e having a Irish surname or having a strong localised british accent!

  • and what is a localised British accent, can you define a localised British accent. Would you say it would the kind of accent someone from the north of wales would have, or perhaps someone from Glasgow, or maybe even a farmer from East Anglia. Please define for me the localised British accent that you appear to be so certain is common across the whole of the British Isle's.

  • Another day another account! I don't know what you are responding to this time?

  • If you can't tell the difference between "taking the piss" and "racism" you're probably a racist. They're not remotely the same thing. You wrote "If it's done on a stage and not directed at a particular individual how can that be racism". I didn't pick up the sarcasm or irony or whatever you meant because you surely can mean that.

  • Yet another accont you are talking crap on!

  • (account) sorry! Hypocrisy is hypocrisy! Funny is funny something can be funny yet extremely racist! Irony is a after thought an excuse for laughing even!

  • Anyway "taking the piss" out of a minority because of racial differences is racist! So again what is your point!

  • All it would have taken is one Scottish lad who didnt get the joke and he'd be dead.

  • he's got balls, did you see the looks on some of those faces lol

  • why oh why cant I be as funny as stewart lee, he is my hero

  • Aye, seeing him next week. Eeeeeeexcellent.

  • Absolute genius!!

  • He's a brave comedian; can't wait to see him in Belfast next month.

  • If he did this in an English city, it would be kinda lame. Doing it in Glasgow... Bleeding edge, people! And he knows it. Stewart Lee's an intellectual as much as a comedian and knows exactly what buttons to push and when. I'm pretty much in awe of his talent. He's certainly in the top five personal favourite comedians for me.

  • Honestly. A comment thread full of Guardian readers, belming 'YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE GENIUS OF STEWART LEE, AS YOU MISPLACED AN APOSTROPHE!'

I feel right at home :D

  • You just don't get it unfortunately. This is one of the most ballsy stand-up routines I've ever seen but if you don't understand the outrageous gravity of certain statements it would seem kinda dull. He's a true, honest and pioneering comedian who walks the more interesting and dangerous edges of comedy and doesn't get bogged down in the banal trough of shit that gets churned out on fuckin' comedy/quiz(?)/panel shows constantly. He makes you laugh and think and that's more than most can muster.

  • They don't know whether to laugh because the material is so brazenly offensive that their brains can't work out if it's cool to say these things or not. Pushing comic boundaries.

  • You, sir are a fucking retard. Like the audience, you are too stupid to understand Stewart Lee's jokes. Stick to moronic shit like Russell Brand - I'm sure it's more your sort of level.

  • Well, your spelling and grammar say that you are a fucking retard - and no, you aren't entitled to an opinion until you can spell it, understand? Jesus, there's nothing worse than a stupid cunt who doesn't realise that they are stupid.....

  • Even if I was a kid, wouldn't you be even slightly embarrassed that a child was correcting your spelling? You don't come on here to argue with kids because an average seven year old would tear you to pieces - because you're a retard.

P.S. If I knew what a 'proram' was, I'd go and find one. It sounds filthy.

  • It isn't 'is'nt', it's 'isn't', isn't it?

  • Any one know where i can download some of his stuff, i can only find this special. its pretty amazing

  • Check out stewart Lee's comedy vehicle. Its very good. There's a few dodgy clips now and again, to flesh it out a bit. But its good.

  • Comment removed

  • What a brave man!

  • Heh, when he's saying that William Wallace was a paedophile, there's two brief shots of the audience and a large guy with a beard who clearly isn't amused.

  • nope, its a joke bout braveheart, not real wallace
