  • this is the best version of this song, ever. steve jordan's drumming is so fucking heavy

  • It was his book that made me listen to this. Nice to know the story behind and the musicans. I loved the book but he should have cut it 50 pages.

And it is almost scaring what you can get away with with the right connexions - quit often, like Keith, other jewes

  • This guy is a PIRATE man!!

  • Man..listen to the guitar undercurrents Keef is laying down.. Like a deadly cable of electricity making this song more threatening..and his vocals, rough as the ages anyway, ...Best version I have heard.

  • Fuckn rock on

  • Awwwwwooooooooo

  • This is INFINITELY the superior, comparing Keef & the Winos to Mick ruining Gimme Shelter with that POS U2 & Fergie

  • An excellent band to catch LIVE~ and that Lisa Fischer!

    MANcan she sangggggggg!:D

  • Just finished his bio, man what a book ! Dogs called syphilis, mars bar dildo's, 9 day benders, 8gm lines of coke, its all there, the man is a legend, gutted to be finished reading it.

  • OK, this is the opinion of a 20 year-old girl: Keith is great, nice, talented but also so HOT!!!...And I'm French, we know a lot about charm!

  • click like... i have but its just not enough god damn it

  • Almost done with his book, and what a book it is. I don't know what the sales have been, but I'll bet this would ultimately sell better than any memoirs from Mick, even though many people would be eager to read Mick's reminiscences as well, and understandably so. Keith just loves the music, page after page, and this keeps his ego in check and helps him tell his story. This is an honest book, and it makes you appreciate his music. Despite ghostwriting help, the real Keith's on every page.

  • I never knew that Keith could sing. And he is good. Love the post.

  • What you have to respect, admire and love about Mr Richards is that he is as honest as he is talented-An ex-junkie who never surrendered his integrity-amazing biography-

He never seems to have bought into the megastar bull that Jagger embraces-Thanks for the music Keef and thanks for the post!

  • yessssssssss!!!!

keef, you're the best man in this world ....

  • yessssssssss!!!!

  • Read Keith's book about when he wrote Gimme Shelter. It's odd without Mick, but it does capture the feeling he described. Love this.

  • I remember what we were all doing when this song first came out . . . this version epitomizes feeling of it . . . wow--didn't expect that.

  • Babi Floyd.

  • who the hell is the man singing the backing vocals ??? awesome.

  • Beyond good. This has so much more groove and menace than any of the Stones versions I've heard. Mick, god bless him, always tries to put himself at the front of a song. Keith always tries to put himself inside it.

  • 69MC97gc....buy Richards' book. He explains the whole five string thing at length. This is a man who is heavily into his craft.

  • fuckin' tell me! So cool! Keith is the Rhythym GOD!

  • if your a fan of Keith Richards go get his new book it gives alot of insight about Keith and Micks relationship. from what I have read and reading stories on the web I think the Stones are done I am sad to say but boy do I wish Keith the best. his new project looks so promising, he has a ton of great talent gathering around him.

  • THE shit.

  • UN PEU MOU , mais the winos excellent groupe ,keith le dieu vivant very goodddddddd !!!!!!! rebel 68 ZYEUTER la video de keith whit is up geniale live avec winos x pensive ,the best song

  • Keith, you might want to keep that day job......

  • After watching the U2/Mick Jagger/Fergie version of this song, it makes me appreciate this version even more than I did before. Simply awesome!

  • This is so much better than the Stones' version!!

  • This is the first time I see....that Keith plays a 5-string guitar.Watch closely.

  • @69MC97gc

If you read his book, it tells you all of his little tricks and secrets.

  • cest bon oui?

  • Love the "harmonica" solo

  • This version is amazing.

  • C'est qu'en parcourant "Life", Keith est bien plus... "libre dans ses mouvements" avec les Winos et donne une couleur plus ... "roots" à cette chanson. C'est la première fois que je l'entends dans cette version.

  • my name is paul s i saw keith and the stones when iwas 13 i am now 55 and again on there last tour fantastickeith is in my mind the best muso on the planetkeiths other band the expencive winoes unreal the songs wicked as it seams wow and i need your love to keep me happythe best v clip i have ever seen i think you should be knighted keith u r a genius

  • it's just a chardonnay

  • @TheZ00m11 Nice!!

  • Comment removed

  • Is this off a DVD? Please tell me it is.

  • Waddy Wachtel > everyone.

    *Ray*

  • I pray to the Source that Keith live a long, long life! After all these years of creating some of the best blues guitar to grace our ears, Richards is just now coming into form as maybe one of the greatest blues singer/guitar players. Just think of it. He definitely lived the life and he's just in his 60s. A puppy compared to many blues legends. He's got some great stories yet to be told. And he can play some of the most inspiring blues riffs ever. I say there's an even greater riff than Jumpin

  • this is great but i like mick's singing a bit better

  • Mary Clayton?

  • Wow, this is the way I would imagine JJ Cale playing this song. And it's damned good!

  • Grooves deeper than the grand canyon!

  • As soon as you here Keith's voice - Woahhhhh Man! That's awesome.

  • The guy is real !!! That's what i like. Real Rock'n'Roll !!!

  • HOW COULD ANYBODY NOT LIKE KEITH HE IS REAL NOT A FAKE

  • He IS the Rolling Stones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mick is cool and all, but Keith is the man!! Cheers to the Riff Master.

  • Is that Bobby Keyes on sax?

  • Saw them LIVE at the Fox in Detroit. BEST show to Ever. Only have 1 0r 2 Stones CDs can here that stuff on the radio. Keef and X Winos @ Pladium BEST LIVE ALBUM EVER. Time Is On My Side almost killed me. Good book too.

  • This band rocks like the Stones used to do and they don't even need something up front prancing around like a geriatric fairy!!

  • They're a pretty tight band. The Stone's 20 piece live band don't do it much better than this.

Saying that, Keith Richards is a genius. Makes everyone else sound very very good

  • That was fucking awesome. Never knew about these guys till I read Life by Keith. Didn't even realize how much Keith made the Stones what they are and how much of what they are is down to him. Alway thought more Jagger.

  • @Underground906 Fantastic Book, almost finished it myself. Had to check out the Winos after reading Keith's praises for the talent involved. Really great music.

  • @TheWonderSock Yeah they're great and the book was a pleasure to read. Finished it last night. I read bios of others and hasn't really changed my opinion either. Just gained an understanding. Keith was a legend anyway. Buti was the first time reading a book that the person underneath it was better than even the public pereption. And everyone already loves Keith. I listen to the Stones in a different light now.

  • @badbob u sir are seriously correct about Keith and John -- the brains and brawn of their respective groups!

  • wOH kinda strange to hear Keith sing this song

  • @WayneWiblin But strange in a good way. ♥

  • Human Riff

  • remember this janit????????????

  • All serious Beatles fans are really John Lennon fans. All serious Stones fans are really keith Richards fans.

  • @badbob1946 you, sir, are terribly wrong.

  • first song i ever passed out to . fond memories .

  • The Winos are really up for this - rocking version. Keith is as cool as fuck, carrying off the vocal and driving the groove. Love Bobby Keys (? - I think) on the baritone sax - that is a real innovation and honking addition to this.

  • awesome

  • Wow . . . that builds to some pretty dynamic shit.

  • I prefer his voice to Jagger's anyday, there's a lot more depth in there. He sings like a man that's been there, that knows failure, success and everything in between

  • To say that is a great song would be an understatement

    thanks for the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keef: The GREATEST. No one will ever fill this guy's shoes---ever.

  • I love the Xpensive Winos.

  • Anybody that truly thinks they are as talented as Keith , please post your CV and discography. His songs speak for themselves.

  • Sorry, Steve Jordan, the drummer, is from the Expensive Wino's, THEN helps John mayer get street cred 20 years later!!!

  • Hey ! Mister RocknRollShaman !

    That is great video !!!

  • @wildhorse76 Ha ha....Mon ami...tu joue en 'Open G'?

  • @RocknRollShaman Non il est EADGBE

  • Is this on a DVD?

  • DU BON KEITH BON GROOVING ROCKING GIMME SHELTER AVEC MIDNIGHT RAMBLER DEUX TITRES STONIEN EXCELLENT TOP !!!

  • DU BON KEITH GIMME SHELTER STONIEN

  • My first rock and roll 45 was "Rock around the clock" After more than 35 or so years of rock, KEITH IS MY FAVORITE. Note how eveyrbody does what they can to make him happy and make him look. Just AWESOME.

  • Babi Floyd is a shitty harp player.

  • Just brilliant!

  • The band is sooooo locked into helping Keith play his music. Wonderful.

  • KEITH IS MORE ABOUT THE RHYTHM AND GROOVE AND NOT PRETTY NOTES

  • The drummer is of "John Mayer trio".

  • The beauty of Richards is in the imperfection of his genius!

  • Keef it real!

  • "WE'RE HERE TO ROCK....!!!" EXCELLENT!!!

  • Keith Richards is no Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton or even Carlos Santana. However, like Angus Young and B.B. King, he keeps it real. Keith IS rock and roll.

  • @PeteTSSF soooo agree with you

  • i dream to see KEITH RICHARDS as lead vocal of THE ROLLING STONES and.MICK JAGGER on guitar. of course just as an experimentation.

  • This nothing short of embarrassing , really what the fuck was that? PS I am a huge fan of the man so no hate mail,

  • why did he waste his time with the stones?!

  • that wuz just the best.

  • just him.

Keith Richards: with his basic, elementary, sound guitar playing gets an amazing version, always looking for what it's missing.

Not the best guitar player, certainly one of the hard workers on the guitar. Good guy, good guitar player, good team player ( not with a great guitarist like Taylor, though).

  • @occhioallallocco Seems like Taylor got a pretty good deal in the Stones, considering he got to play on Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women, Tumbling Dice, etc. I don't buy this "Taylor got screwed" stuff. BTW - Richards played ALL guitars on the recorded version of Gimme Shelter.

  • Keith looses place sometimes, and isn't ever perfect, because he never plays a song the same way twice... THAT is what is so interesting about him, and the stones live..He always tries for the mood, the groove, and sometimes the right notes gets sacrificed in the effort....I'll live with that any day.

  • @cntrydb that's right. but you see that if he plays it different it sounds good every time he does and often it sounds better. his improvisation is awesome.

  • @cntrydb very concise assesment and I fully agree on every point. I have seen Keith from the front row many times and met him off stage often. The most exciting time is when he and his band are on stage. There is some excitement even they feel and makes them dig deep and switch on big time. It still gives me goose bumps to watch this masterful song being worked hard.

  • @cntrydb Thank You for your Comment, And thank you for getting it.

  • @cntrydb

He puts a lot of soul into the guitar - which is very very very hard to do.

Way beyond even people like Van Halen, and Steve Vai

  • @cntrydb We so often expect perfection from our rock musicians but we forget that it's Rock n Roll not Stravinsky. It's not supposed to be technically perfect in the live situation, it's all about mood and feel. It doesn't matter how technically perfect a musician or a band may be, if they have no SOUL it's not worth a pinch of pelican poop.

  • @felixq78 Thanks!! Your comments reflect what I what saying, That the imperfection, is part of what makes him so interesting, The mood and groove always touch your soul.. and keep you listening over and over for more.

  • @cntrydb Amen brother

  • steve jordan!

  • this is live rock & roll.. raw, grinding beat.. fuck the the perfect beat.. go listen to records.. I only wish, Keith would continue to go on tour on his own...

  • im agree

  • I love Keith - his rock 'n ' roll attitude, looks, songwriting, riff-writing, are all the stuff of legends; however, his 'live' guitar playing is sometimes dreadful. During this intro he is completely out of rhythm from :29 to about :40 and even commits the ultimate sin of a wrong note at :37. I wonder if, over the years, there is a little too much attitude on stage and not enough focus on his playing.

  • I agree. I've noticed that in the last 20 years, he even plays less on some songs, as if he's deferring to Ron Wood to provide the guitar parts while striking a couple of sustained chords and picking a few notes. I'll forgive him for hitting the occasional bad note because they've all done it.

  • Man its LIVE thats what makes it real. . .

If you want note perfect see B spears

  • @Montylebrango "even commits the ultimate sin of a wrong note at :37."

You are joking, right? I mean, what musician has NEVER hit the wrong note? It is not a matter of whether or not a guitarist hits the wrong note. It is how well they cover it up and keep the groove going. Any guitarist will tell you that. Keith does this as well as anyone around.

  • @Montylebrango You are right, my friend. However, Keith comes from a high level blues school, where thr time is a lot less important than in moder time rock music. For this consideration, only, knowing his examples (Muddy Waters, Chuck berry) this kind of "mistakes" are really less important than the main melody.

Who never missed a right note in a not really easy tun elike this, raise the hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keef, he's the fuckin' man, no question

  • Rock & Roll !!!!!

  • It's ALL about the vibe, and this has it in spades. Dark, driving, soulful...what more does one need?

    Love it!

  • its cool cause its dark and bluesy

  • There's nothing i can say Keith said it all !!!

  • @mantzak Yep, Keith's the man! He has a presence that takes everyone's attention. He's always having fun and after all, isn't that what Rock is all about, FUN ?
