to train a dog for real life, you will start with the exposed sleeve, work to a hidden sleeve, but you should also work with a suit before the hidden sleeve. the dog will then understand how to address an entire person not just the arm. and switch arms between sessions, dont just use one side because real life will not necessarily present a left arm or right arm but the other or both plus physical objects.

Is it true that if you train the dog to bite the sleeve, he does not know how to respond to a real life situation? I am trying to get my Dobe trained and have been told that I need to find a trainer that teaches to bite without a sleeve. Don't know how one can do that, but thats what I read on the net. Any advise?

I do not have any of that at present...

My trainer and I are wanting to put together some good footage though.

My female which is now 8.5 months old is going to greatly surpass my male's ability when she gets older and into her bitework.

I will try to upload some footage of that.

She is actually a puppy from Linda's bloodlines.

I got a question.. Is it dangerous to teach dobe's (As house pets) to attack ?

Absolutely not.

I see it as training dogs in the martial arts.

It actually makes them safer to be around... they're trained to know what to do rather than to be "Loose cannons" that will bite out of fear.

Can I be the person that's being attacked or will the dog look at me as an intruder?

It's not a good idea to be a decoy for your own dogs.

You should be the handler releasing your dog on a decoy.

Being a decoy is not easy... it takes training and talent. A good decoy is valuable, and a poor decoy can literally ruin a dog.
