  • Boop boop hehe

  • At the stables I ride at the saddle only has 1 girth strap and and they looke nothing like those.

  • @CornSnake43 Ever heard of different type of saddles for different disciplines?

  • how much did the saddle pad cost.?

  • @bubbysacuty that one cost $100 dollars and the blue blanket cost 45 dollars(:

  • most people dont even use them, there good for barrels though

  • its not a back girth its a bucking strap to help keep the saddle down and even

  • What kind of saddle is that? O_O I've never seen a back girth...

  • What's the point of a back girth?

  • @tikicourtney Horses shouldn't really get angry if its a little too tight. You want to make it pretty tight so it doesn't fall off during your ride. So make it pretty tight incase it was to loosen during your ride it will still be on pretty good. So make it pretty tight, then buckle it and do what she says, sorry I'm not much of help but ya know! lol :D

  • I ride bare back its alot funner and it puts less weight on the horse inles your like over weight

  • you could not pay me enough to do the buckle method on the front cinch

  • wow that looks a bit too far back but thats probly just my eyes screwing with me O_O

  • @Beccie1011 It's not far back at all. Yep it's your eyes. lol

  • @MrsCullenJankowski hahhaha lol yea my eyes are always doing that to me O_O

  • Thank you so much for the simplicity of your videos. We are just getting started with horses and I know so very little, but we just had a beautiful black and white Pintabian filly born and are motivated and patient to learn all that we can. Thank you.

  • why is she stompping

  • @ilycarladawn Flies perhaps. She might also be a tad bit pissed she has to work, some horses are like that when you insist they do something that isn't bein lazy.

  • is it OK to ride a horse without a saddle and pad, can i just grip it by the Maine?

  • @MrToadland1 do you mean bareback riding??? I think thats what you ment and yea you can ride without a saddle and saddle blanket. Also you can put a halter on and put reins on it or a lead rope to control. you can hang on to the mane if you need

  • @MrToadland1 Well truth be told yes you can, but if you dont ride with atleast a pad then you will likely rub the horses hair in a irritating manner for the horse. You also need to have a relationship with the horse and be an ADVANCED rider to ride without a bridle -unless someone is of course leading the animal-

But to get to the bare bones of it like horselover said, yes you can ride bareback, with a halter and lead, depending on the horse :)

  • @MrToadland1 yep, might not want to do so if you're not advanced. But im guessing you are if you're wanting to ride it without a saddle. But you should just pu thte bridle on its safer and more convenient.

  • very nice video, thank you. <3

I am an experienced English rider who enjoys western as well but I never get around to doing it, but I ahe volunteered to help children with special needs how to ride a horse, and I'll be grooming and tacking up prior to the ride, and I just needed a little reminder on how to do that cinch strap.;) Lot more complicated than the single-buckel english girth!!!

    Thanks! 5 star!

  • what is the name of that saddle

  • and my trainer also said that is the cinch is to tite it will cause a cinch sore and that is what my mare has... any suggestion on how to treat the sore? can you do a video on sores and how to treat them? please! that wood be very help full!

  • very nice video. covers all the basis on a western saddle without doing a step by step for the beginners. nice work.

  • @Emmelineproductions no western

  • Is it just me or is that Saddle really beautiful?

  • I Love a taxes t hey I have a horse that wont let me put the saddle on do you now how to put a saddle on without getting bit kited and step'd on?

  • i love cowgirls

  • what is the average weight of the saddle? i'm looking for a light weight saddle for an arabian black.

  • @Hmoob54321 Barrel saddles are the lightest i use. :)

  • @LanaesRabbitry thanks!

  • @madikins00 welcome!! i just hope it helped:)

  • @madikins00 to adjust at least on mine if you lift up the whole stirrup it should have a strap that clasps that you take off and pull the stirrup apart and mine has like maybe 10 double holes down a line on one side of the stirrup you just yank out the metal piece that holds it into one of the set of holes and reset it where you need it hope that helps because that is the way my saddle is made and its fairly new

  • juaniyo, walking behind a horse if perfectly fine if it knows, trusts and senses your presence there. You shouldnt tighten the saddle perfectly the first time, leave one hole or so then walk the horse around so that its not pinching, or stretch its legs out to make her legs more comfortable. Then tighten, Hence the reason she said she wud check one more time to see if the saddle was alright.I dont think this lady would put a saddle on a horse that wont like it, she knows what she's talking about.

  • I Love your horse she is awesome and she is so pretty

  • Comment removed

  • Well it's a good thing that this video is on here, I wouldn't know how too saddle a horse. NOT.

  • Comment removed

  • @xXPeppyWildfireXx This is obviously geared toward beginners, or those wanting a review.

  • madkins00 , it's really simple , just look under the hole stirrup and you see how you do it , i don't have time to explain but

  • heatseeker213

If you touch the horse and let it know your there it's safe to do plus (this might sound strange but it's true) my trainer told me that if your closer to the horse it would have less range to kick you but still it is good to take precaution

  • i def like the texas t better, because the first and LAST time i buckled my strap, the hole ripped and my saddle slipped ani fell off quick.. and my horse freaked out and fell.. :( were all good now though!

  • she has te basics good but first never walk behind a horse second the saddle is to loose a horse will loose air and get skinnier while riding so the saddle wouold go around and make you all second never put the rear sinch on most of the horses dont like them and start to jump like crazy and know you over!

  • @juaniyo if the front one is tight enough it should be fine

  • I found this very informative, thank you :o)

  • never walk directly behind any horse

  • @heatseeker213 What are you suppose to do, go under it?

  • @Organicchickenlady if u want to smartass! go walk directly behind any horse and see what eventually happens if u do it all the time?

  • Comment removed

  • @heatseeker213 u been lucky

  • @heatseeker213 um, how is she supposed to go around the front?

  • @W012248 ya

  • @W012248 You're not to walk in front of a horse, it's actually safer to go around behind, if done properly.

  • @heatseeker213 maybe some horses will do these things but if u have a horse that trusts you and you are good at showing the horse where you are so the horse don't get scared you can do almost all that you want. even go under it if you want to. but i agree, she's not good at looking at the horse to check if it's growing angry. (sorry for my terrible english. hope you understand it)

  • not.even. and omg sayign getting sweaty...bright splashy coulers is nto worht it!

  • the saddle pad is not straight! always make sure your pads are straight!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm trying to learn how to tack up a horse english style because I'm Irish. I'm able to tack up a horse but want to make sure I'm not at fault if a girl slips off her horse because something wrong with the saddle. I would appriciate it if you would upload an english version.

    Thumbs up if you agree

  • excellent video i like how she showed (clearly) how to cinch the girth! great video!

  • thanks so much! I'm studying up for my first lesson, (Which is in bout 3 hours now) and this video was a big help!

  • @ponypower2589 I love how you are studying up for your first lesson! That is great! I hope you had an awesome first lesson! :)

  • wow i love that halter

  • how tall is that horse?

  • @XxXkirstyanneXxX It looks about 15 or 16 hands

  • thx for that!!! i might get my first horse!! i am ssssooooooo excited!!! thank you alot!!! i luv western!!!!!!

  • Hey

    Beginner to horseback riding.

As a matter of fact, I just rode one my first time yesterday. So far I guess I'm ok at it. I was able to keep the horse comfortable and I got her up to a canter.

I feel like learning more though. Should I learn to ride Western Style or English Style first? I feel safer with Western style, but English style looks neat.

  • @KittyRokher Hi, i would reccomend figuring out what you would like to do. like trail riding or dressage? If you like trail riding and going up in the woods or if you like rodeo events i would recommend western. but if your into fancy stuff like dressage and like hunter jumper then english would be your best bet!

  • @RainbowZebrification

Well, I plan on doing a lot of trail riding. So, Western, I guess.

  • @KittyRokher I like western but English is pretty neat also. English (i've heard) Is harder than western, so if you learn English then western is practically in your reach. If you like the more fancy and proper, then you would really like English. But if you like a little bit more laid back trail ride, or speedy barrel racing then you would be good with Western

    hope this helped. :)

  • @KittyRokher It depends on what you want to do. For instance, i trail ride, so im a western rider. It also depends on the horse. If your horse is a jumper, I would go with English. But, if he is a barrel racer than i would go with western.

    Hope This Helped!

  • thanks for showing !

i knew how to do a western saddle i have done it about 100 times.

but we never used that rear cinch so i didn't know how to do that .

    thank you !

  • I got a really bad saddle so it's not good at all... I tried to use it but it was new and I don't want to break it in on a new horse and deal with all the oils and rubbing .... And loved the video... my horse is 15.1 hh and it's hard for me to swing the saddle haha and i'm 5'5 haha so I need a stool to mount also

  • Thank you

  • The basics, but good to know!

  • i think shes much better than kelly

  • i like western riding but i usually ride english

  • heey

i'm 1.50 an need to alone a horse saddle of 1.80

dis is gonna help my but i don't know how you do the single good .....

    xx

  • how about a noramall saddle, good info though

  • @KisaKittyLove It is a normal saddle

  • @iloveCASH100; its a western saddle, im looking for english. and i dont need it anymore

  • @KisaKittyLove ok sorry

  • good info

  • when i first rode i rode westeren and now i ride english and i'm exersicing some horses that are westeren at my stable i forgot how to cinch it!

  • i just got a horse recently and i really prefer western riding to english. where i live they all prefer english so usually if i go out with western tack they all look at me funny. kinda stupid tht people cant respect other peoples opinons especially on something so small. its just tack.

  • This is a western saddle

  • eniglish is alot easier i agree

  • what type of saddle is this? i cant think! :D

  • english is so much easier

  • Maybe people dont care if its easier maybe people like different things

  • geez i was only saying my opinion,

and yeah. ok i have tried western and i am just saying that english is easier to tack up,

    CHILL OUT.

  • NO CHILLING OUT!

seriously though you don't need the back cinch. if your roping then yea it should be on. we do a lot of mountain riding where we us front and rear cinch and a chest harness (marigold I think is the english term? or is that a tie down?) that takes some time but with the constant climbing it sure helps keep things in place.

never tacked a horse english so I'll trust you. sat in an english saddle a couple times. that is as much english as I have done

  • its really is all u have to do is put 1 girth threw a buckle lol but lots of people choose western over english

  • Great vid. It helped me a lot. Thank you.

  • the padd is not on equaly

  • i didnt know you had to measure it with a tape measure!

  • @crrider08 i think she puts it more over the closer side cos she knows she is going to move the saddle away once it is on. i bet it is spot on in the end.

  • @crrider08 your spelling sucks

  • i just would like to thank you expertvillage because i just couldnt figure out how to tighten the back girth/cinch. after watching this im heading out to the stables now to go and try it on my horse! lol thanks again!!!

  • haha

  • nintendogsforeverluv91 you need to make it tight beacuse otherwise you will fall off

  • YA I KNOW BUT ITS JUST THE WAY IM LOOKING AT IT, IT LOOKS TighT! cuz i dont tighten things on animals but a collar so im not a pro on tightening!

  • Comment removed

  • hhahaha, you must be a noob!

you HAVE to make it tight unless your main objective is too fall of the horse.

  • I work at a trail riding facility, and I never use a back cinch. I've never had issues. The front cinch is enough support for the saddle. If you want to use a back cinch it is up to you.

  • i have that exact same saddle pad except mine has neoprine on the bottom! its GREAT!

  • She sounds pretty edcuated about horses. There some things she did that could be done diffrently but its mostly prefrences.

  • Ive nver used the buckle.... cuz my trainer said it wasnt as safe a tieing it... idk...

  • How are we supposed to learn how to do this if all we can see is the horses butt?

  • watch the rest of the video you jackass

  • Really? I'm glad your so mature as to just put "watch the rest of the video". Do you think i just watched half then turned it off?! Um no, and yes I realize the horse turned when she brought the saddle over to him... But if you want to be all immatue about it, then ok. UP YOUR DICKWAD!

  • ROFL.

    That made my day.

  • i don't understand the point of a back girth if it's that loose. i ride english and i only rode western years ago, but we always only used the front cinch...

  • The back cinch keeps the saddle from bouncing up since it's much longer than an english saddle and the front cinch only secures the front half of the saddle. ;]

  • buck strap

  • For thoes kinda of saddles you should put the sterups ontop of the saddle when your placing it on the horse, it can hurt the horse when your placing it down:) mmmk,,,, mkkk:)

  • You dont have to. Because the pad and blanket is thick then it doesnt hurt them. I put one stirrup on top of the horn because it's easier to tie up the girth and get it on top of the horse.

  • why is this horse stamping? is it out of anger or impacience or is it something they may do when being saddled?

  • mosy likly flies, you can see because the horse's tail is swishing alot.

  • *gay* you mean?

  • exactly thx lol i misspell alot : )

  • Haha you're not alone :)

  • i just have something to add...

if you can't fling the sadddle on the back feel free to put the stirrup in the horn and (depending on what side) put the girth over the saddle. That is what i do ;)

  • thanx i was woundering about that i am short soo i am starting wester riding soon that will help

  • thanks with the back cinch ive been wondering how tight to put one no one ever showed me sense i just got one!

  • i like the texas t better.

  • me 2

  • If you don't have your back cinch snug enough where it's making contact with your horse it's not doing anything. I'm not saying it need to be insanely tight, but it should be a little tighter.

    That's what I learned.

  • This really helped me out! Thanks!

  • This is very inforative. The only thing I'd suggest is to make a "pocket of air" between the saddle + saddle pad and the withers.

  • She's better than the other lady but most of the time when you put a saddle on the horse all of the straps and everything are on top of the saddle so that you can just flip it down when you get the saddle on.

  • i totally agree with you, i usually put all the stuff on top of the saddle so that it is easier

  • i think she did a great job also, but it isnt good to have the saddle loose because the horse might kick at a fly and get its foot caught up and it could hurt you and the horse really bad... i have an apaloosa arabian mix horse and he will hold his breathe while you are putting the saddle on him, so u have to walk him around so he will let his breath out and you have to tighten it as tight as u can!! just make sure it dosent pinch under their legs... if you want to know more, write to me!

  • I love this, she does an excellent job compared to that other woman. Personally, I feel much safer with her as my riding instructor compared to that Kathy lady.

  • ok

    thank you = P

  • It'd be better if she went under the horse's neck instead of behind it's rear.

  • It doesn't matter which way you go around as long as you don't have a kicker

  • my cousin got kicked by a donkey

  • that was random... these people next to my boarding ranch have donkeys.

  • nicely done so you dont want the back cinch to tight or else he/she might start to buck rite?

  • Snuggly... If you put it loosely she could kick at a fly and get her foot hung... There is not reason to put it as tight as it can go... It just holds the back of the saddle down a bit... No real need for it

  • excellent good to see someone knows what she is doing my twins wanted to go out do that straight afterwards
