Using options built into the operating system is not a hack.

One is simply double clicking the link.

While this may not be a perfect example of a hack, in my defense, the defiinition of hack is: [U]se a computer to gain unauthorized access to data in a system.

While YouTube does not make an effort to stop you from downloading a movie, they do not provide a built-in way of doing it. I would imagine that if they were to do it, they would do it much like google video, where if a publisher decides to allow their vids to be downloaded, there is be a button in the sidebar.

A lot of what I cover I have figured out. However, a lot of people don't bother to figure it out. Also, with the mac population growing there are more new people.

Have you read the blog? I have far more tips on there than I do in my videos. I'm hoping to be making more videos soon, but, I don't have the time right now.

While the tips on the blog can be basic, there are also some advanced tips. It really depends upon the day. Sometimes I discover something that is absolutely amazing. Other times, I don't have a really great tip, so I write one that is basic. The important part is that I write a tip every day. (Except saturday.)

Nerklin, I use Snapz Pro X which is not free. ($70) However, I do know of a good free screen capture program you can use. I'll send you a PM.

I don't know if it slows down loading time or not. I have not tested. However, I don't think it does. (Not noticeably at least.)

the website that foyager is talking about is downloadyoutubevideos (.) com. While I have not tested every downloader service, I do not like them because they are generally slow. As more people use the service, the slower it gets. Also, they seem to run into a problem all to often. I'm not saying my way is the best way, it is just (to me) more reliable.

If you have to, you can select the video in the activity monitor, copy the URL (Cmd-C) then, open the downloads window (Cmd-Option-L) and paste it in. (Cmd-V).

You could try mounting it through disk utility or download another decompressing application and using that.

Actually, I've never heard of doing that. However, if you search versiontracker dot com for "Save HollyWood" then you should find a screensaver where you can select a movie to play. (I should do this as my tip on sunday...)

If by anyhow you run windows on parallex or on bootcamp, you could try Zillatube - it works wonders... it downloads youtube, and more. "Zillatube" can be found... just google it.

When you go into iSquint and click the vid for iPod, can you do it for PSP as well? It needs to be a format for PSP!

Sadly, iSquint only does iPod. However, visual hub (made by the same guy) does many different video formats. Including PSP.

The activity window didn't come up? Did you hit Cmd-Option-A. Also, it might have opened up behind the other windows. Hit Cmd-Tilde key to switch between wiindows.
