I think the point of this movie was to show the opposite, how all of them grow more mature as the movie goes, and stop faking their emotions and playing the roles they were given while being teenagers in their school: princess, athlete... In the beginning Bender was offending every1,and proving he was tough, but later on, he shows his natural side, Clair was acting like Bender is not good for her, even tough she likes him, cos she is prom queen, but later figures thats dumb.

I thought the point to her new outfit was that she wasn't trying to grab attention anymore. Her character flaw was that she was an attention grabber which was why she lies all the time and spills her handbag, and so on.
