@vdubkingvincent well its your opinion force unleashed is a great game but also what your looking at in this video is very outdated the newer version of gameplay looks great. (in my opinion).

To explain this in terms of the story and why a single trooper can equal a sith warrior in combat, it's because the trooper isn't an ordinary foot soldier. As with all MMOs, the character you play is in some way superior to all the NPCs, like how the bounty hunter starts off in this giant competition thing and they're all uber. So you're not some common thug bounty hunter, you're one of the best in the galaxy. Same with all the other classes.
All of the classes are, of course, going to be equal. If a single sith warrior could kill hundreds of troopers, everyone would pick the sith warrior. So everyone would be lightsaber wielding force users, and the troopers and smugglers and the like would get killed easily. Which would only make sense if there were only a few people playing jedi and they were like, the heroes. But as this is an MMO and you are NOT the big hero, that doesn't work.
When the lightsaber is his blade cross it is going on an adversary's body, not enough that leaves over, but it is necessary to strike down on him in order for us to be allowed to overcome it again yet!

@Dinoboy05 to be honest no if you are dumb enough to want to be a trooper then prepare to spend most of your time in waiting to respawn in my opinion(using PvP as an example). That would've been way better because it would be realistic and more fun I would ignore any lightsaber wielding enemy and just hunt troopers.

Uh. No. Wrong. There are no differences and the lightsaber designs have remained unchanged apart from aesthetics. The reason there's no dismemberment is because that would warrant a mature rating, which would reduce the audience considerably.

I've never understood how people can play Star Wars MMOs. In the end, EVERYONE is going to want to be a Jedi. Why? Because Jedis are AWESOME. Having a Jedi class that is easily obtained will make new players be harassed once clans of "Jedi veterans" start up, very similar to many other MMOs, Having one that takes FOREVER and is LIMITED will ruin the playability and scope of BEING a Jedi so that nobody WANTS to do it. In the SW universe, Bounty Hunters are typically the only ones...
...In the Star Wars Universe that go toe to toe with Jedi and SURVIVE other than Sith obviously. And that's only the ELITE pantheon of bounty hunters: Aurra Sing, Han Solo, Jango Fett (until he met Mace Windu), and Boba Fett of course. I wonder how they'll balance this system.
@Momentum139 I know a bunch of people irl - and many more on the official website forums - who are not planning to go Jedi or Sith straight away. I, myself, am leaning toward Trooper or Smuggler. From what I've seen, the Trooper's stopping power is going to be insane.
As they release more info for each class, I think you will find a number of people who will choose one of the other, non-force, classes on launch day.

No.. its way different than wow.. much better. what you do, can actualy control the affects of your characters.. You are in the middle of being explained a mission.. You have choices you can make, you can sometimes kill them, help them, ask for specific things. anything. and what you choose, does affect everything, the abilities you use, the people you fight, the locations and the items you receive.. everything..
The best thing to find out things like that would be to keep yourself updated on the site - but no, there's no exact release date yet, however they say "about spring 2011." So.. A long wait, try not to screw up your computer this year ;)

Er, no it isn't. They already ported ones like FFXI's port to the 360 and then there's also the upcoming DC Universe Online console versions as well.
So don't call someone retarded when you're completely wrong. Of course though, if you had a chance, it's much better to get the PC version to avoid console complications like wasting money on ps3/360 keyboards and such.
you're right i was off calling someone a retard. i was having a bad day but what im trying to say is mmo's pretty much fail on consoles because of the click and attack system and also from all the attacks, buffs, etc. you have to use which would simply be down right annoying to use on the 360 controller. now if they had keyboards for 360...
They do. Just as the ps3 does. You just have to buy them separately sadly. But still, the point-and-click isn't a problem on console controllers(hell we already have a lot of normal RPGs that do that), it's more of the fact it's better to get their keyboards for quicker chatting since when you don't use them, you're stuck using your controller to press each individual letter slowly when talking.
It's possible you won't need to upgrade since apparently Bioware's trying to make sure the specifications can be good enough for older computers too. Although it would be good to upgrade just in case.
the only problem with controllers is the lack of key bindings. so a game like wow wouldnt work with like 30 key bindings but champions online made you have a set of about 9 abilities.
When you say not iconic enough, what do you mean, in the movies it's not iconic enough or in the EU. If you mean movies I agree with you there, but since this is an EU setting then I think you're completely mistaken and a second Jedi and sith class make complete sense, especially since it will probably be a tier that you spec into: lightsaber focus or force focus. Kotor was like that, so I see no reason why they'd stop that idea.
I agree that there will be a branch of tree of the two main classes so that you can choose to be more force orientated or melee orientated. Consular just isn't iconic enough to be a class on its own and too similar to Jedi knight class. Bioware already said that it has to be familiar to the general public and most people don't know about the EU and that also every class will be different then other classes and i just think that they are way to similar.
Why do you insist on them having to be so similar? They aren't. One focuses on lightsaber combat, and the other on Force powers. If you've played Knights of the Old Republic you'd know that.
Not true nothing indicates this game will be like wow where there are dedicated healers. I also remember reading somewhere that bioware said almost every class can heal themselves.
let's be honest... we knew this one was coming... personally I think the next "big" reveal is going to be when they show either the 2nd Sith or 2nd Jedi class. It's clear there wil be two class starting on Tython and Korriban. My friends and I have been speculating constantly on this... consensus seems to be sometime type of "Adept" style class... more focused on Force use and less on the lightsabers... can't wait to see tho.
There i not going to be a 2nd sith or jedi those are not iconic enough the only really iconic person for sith consular is Palpatine but he was also incredibly skilled with lightsabre combat as well. Next release will most likely be imperial agent.
Just from the early alpha stage to now, you can see a tremendous improvement in detail and movement in the characters. The movements are very fluid in this clip - and I agree that 0:09 is the most realistic blaster deflection animation I have yet seen in a Star Wars game. Amazing that it hasn't even gone into Open Beta, ne?
I cannot wait to play this game when it comes out. I am not sure which side I will roll, but I know I will be buying and playing. BioWare is poised for a mammoth charge.

probably the smuggler or bounty hunter is a stealth class. Unless by stealth u mean someone who puts on disguises and kills his enemies secretly like an assassin.

I doubt there will be actually stealth in the game. Closest thing I can think of is a Sith Assassin, and I doubt that would be happening. I think it is more likely that they would have cloaking devices out there. They higher the quality, the greater the invisiblity(Think of Halo 3 if you want an example of greater the quality greater the invisibility.)
No need 2 be in a hurry, if they rush the game it can only turn out crap...give them time, id rather wait a year and get to play the most epic mmorpg since WoW then play a version of Runescape with a monthly subscribtion located in the Star Wars Universe....

Er, no it isn't. They already ported ones like FFXI's port to the 360 and then there's also the upcoming DC Universe Online console versions as well.
So don't call someone retarded when you're completely wrong. Of course though, if you had a chance, it's much better to get the PC version to avoid console complications like wasting money on ps3/360 keyboards and such.

you're right i was off calling someone a retard. i was having a bad day but what im trying to say is mmo's pretty much fail on consoles because of the click and attack system and also from all the attacks, buffs, etc. you have to use which would simply be down right annoying to use on the 360 controller. now if they had keyboards for 360...

They do. Just as the ps3 does. You just have to buy them separately sadly. But still, the point-and-click isn't a problem on console controllers(hell we already have a lot of normal RPGs that do that), it's more of the fact it's better to get their keyboards for quicker chatting since when you don't use them, you're stuck using your controller to press each individual letter slowly when talking.

It's possible you won't need to upgrade since apparently Bioware's trying to make sure the specifications can be good enough for older computers too. Although it would be good to upgrade just in case.

the only problem with controllers is the lack of key bindings. so a game like wow wouldnt work with like 30 key bindings but champions online made you have a set of about 9 abilities.

When you say not iconic enough, what do you mean, in the movies it's not iconic enough or in the EU. If you mean movies I agree with you there, but since this is an EU setting then I think you're completely mistaken and a second Jedi and sith class make complete sense, especially since it will probably be a tier that you spec into: lightsaber focus or force focus. Kotor was like that, so I see no reason why they'd stop that idea.

I agree that there will be a branch of tree of the two main classes so that you can choose to be more force orientated or melee orientated. Consular just isn't iconic enough to be a class on its own and too similar to Jedi knight class. Bioware already said that it has to be familiar to the general public and most people don't know about the EU and that also every class will be different then other classes and i just think that they are way to similar.

Why do you insist on them having to be so similar? They aren't. One focuses on lightsaber combat, and the other on Force powers. If you've played Knights of the Old Republic you'd know that.

Not true nothing indicates this game will be like wow where there are dedicated healers. I also remember reading somewhere that bioware said almost every class can heal themselves.

let's be honest... we knew this one was coming... personally I think the next "big" reveal is going to be when they show either the 2nd Sith or 2nd Jedi class. It's clear there wil be two class starting on Tython and Korriban. My friends and I have been speculating constantly on this... consensus seems to be sometime type of "Adept" style class... more focused on Force use and less on the lightsabers... can't wait to see tho.

There i not going to be a 2nd sith or jedi those are not iconic enough the only really iconic person for sith consular is Palpatine but he was also incredibly skilled with lightsabre combat as well. Next release will most likely be imperial agent.

Just from the early alpha stage to now, you can see a tremendous improvement in detail and movement in the characters. The movements are very fluid in this clip - and I agree that 0:09 is the most realistic blaster deflection animation I have yet seen in a Star Wars game. Amazing that it hasn't even gone into Open Beta, ne?
I cannot wait to play this game when it comes out. I am not sure which side I will roll, but I know I will be buying and playing. BioWare is poised for a mammoth charge.

Looks like the lightsaber size actally shrinked. I am playing Sith warrior, they are the good guys and we get to kill people. Bioware said their story is awesome.

probably the smuggler or bounty hunter is a stealth class. Unless by stealth u mean someone who puts on disguises and kills his enemies secretly like an assassin.

I doubt there will be actually stealth in the game. Closest thing I can think of is a Sith Assassin, and I doubt that would be happening. I think it is more likely that they would have cloaking devices out there. They higher the quality, the greater the invisiblity(Think of Halo 3 if you want an example of greater the quality greater the invisibility.)
