as long as you have a shield that blocks a lot of damage the butcher is pretty easy... my shield blocked most of the butchers attacks so I killed him using only 1 potion.

best advice i've heard so far lol I was using a mage so i just got annihilated every time i got close enough for him to hit me, then i bought a cheap buckler, a morning star and some stone curse scrolls and i wrecked shop on that motherfucker. if youre playing w/ hellfire expansion then i highly recommend saving some of those oils and runes and using them for this fight. I had to stone curse him probably 3-4 times, used 2 runes of fire, and then the rest with normal attacks

@steinarrexfaroensis: I assure you: No one can kill the butcher in level 6 or even 8. You need to be lv 12 or 13 to be able to defeat him. Because if you're in level 6 or 8 or lower you will get stun locked all the time and you won't be able to do anything against the Butcher. The Butcher should've been located lower down in the labyrinth so that you would'nt need to leave the Butcher in his room and then come back when you're strong enough. I found that you should do the trap thing and stand at the very end of it, that way the Butcher only walks back and forth in front of the end making it easier to hit him. I only just today after having the game for 8 years beat him by using The Needler bow and Charged Bolts after trapping him as the Mage.

I usually buy a scroll of firewall, open the door, cast firewall near the door, close the door and stand right outside. Stupid butcher walks right up to the door standing on the firewall and taking damage. Firewalls last longer with sorcerer. But can be done with warrior this way as well.

the easiest way to kill Butcher was to buy large axe for 600 gp (dmg 6-16) and leather armor for 350 gp (ca 12-13 defense). If you were playing sorcerer or rogue it was useless to kill him and you just left this boss because you may sell Cleaver only for 900 gp. Even now i still remember this :D Great game

I actually remember how i got myself in a "Game Over" situation when i first encountered The Butcher

I had no Scrolls of TP with me and since i was not strong enough to kill him i managed to get myself locked in a room similar to the one butcher is being shot in. No potions left, i was trying to kill him with a bow. In the end, the bow run out of durability (arrows).

So i figured i 'd just retart the game all along cause i couldn't get body. My new hero had scrolls of stone curse and gg :D
