The intent is to denigrate McCain's war service, because it's related to the public's opinion that McCain would be a better war leader than Obama. Just like Bill Clinton made a technically correct statement when Obama won South Carolina...but his intent was to denigrate Obama's victory.

Appears to me the honorable General had praising remarks & high regard for the honorable McCain as a miltary officer and a friend.. HE JUST TRIED TO POINT OUT THAT THESE HIGHLY REGARDED ACTIONS ARE NOT THE ONLY CRITERIA IN WHICH A PERSON IS JUDGED AS CAPABLE & QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT. Executive experience vs. operational experience...He didn't mention that John graduated nearly last in his class and crashed a few planes, & probably wouldn't even got into flight school if not for his father.

Shame on the Dems for questioning McCain's military service. The Republican's have a proud tradition of honoring Democratic presidential candidates military service, especially in 2004 when they put John Kerry up on a pedastal for his service in Vietnam, including his purple hearts.

As you can see clearly from this video and of the video on Face the nation when all of this non sense started Gen.Clark never disparaged John McCain's service as a P.O.W. veteran.
