  • My dream car.

    Got a 94 Z28.

  • does anyone know where i can find that video that disses the mustang. says something like "the surgeon general warns about smoking cigarretts.... he says nothing about smoking mustangs"

  • i have a 77,87 and a 01 and ill never buy a nother 01 TA there alotttttt faster then the old ones but there always have something wrong with them not moter but just little stuff here and there my 87 never has nothing wron with it

  • Trans am was never a v6 the firebird was a v6 not Trans am thank you Death666

  • 94 formula driver here ;-)

  • Lutz + retirement= Trans Am

  • That's acutally a good question, if not a blown 462 will.

  • @PontiacAlfaHSV I believe the biggest TA motor ever used was a 7.5L 454(big engine) The 462 might fit but will be a hell of a fit.

  • That would've been a 455. 454 is a Chevy motor.

  • That would've been a 455. 454 is a Chevy motor.

  • @lokrat2 Yeah sorry about that 455.

  • sorry about posting that three times by the way. The new youtube screwed me up.

  • That would've been a 455. 454 is a Chevy motor.

  • @Smokie420ish Not to nitpick but the 454 is a chevy engine. Pontiacs used Pontiac designed V8s 455 cu. I know that the 8.8 (535 I mentioned earlier) fits well in a second gen car. There are 4th gens with LS7s. I think the trick would be to remove all of the emissions tech, then you would have enough room. I'm just a huge advocate of Pontiacs using traditional Pontiac V8s, seeing a chevy or LS engine in a Poncho makes me die a little on the inside.

  • Yeah ik man I accidently hit the 4 instead of the 5, but thanks again for the info. I had no idea a 535 could fit into a F-bodies. Shit A 8.8L engine is a monster. I guess in a way I could see it fitting into the 2nd gen. b/c they do have long noses.

  • so GM steals the wide track performance from Pontiac and then sends it to the scrapyard. I refuse to buy a Camaro...

  • Bob Lutz killed the Trans Am, in 2002, not the Gorvenment...

  • The Trans Am was technically killed in 1978 along with almost every other Pontiac.

  • How was the TA killed then when Smokey and the Bandit had a TA in 1981 and my dad has a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Formula Trans Am.

  • @Smokie420ish because Pontiac didn't make their own motors after 1978 except for some four cylinders.

  • @lokrat2 You do know why they did this was to save money on engineer designing and making like 3-5 V8s per car company Pontaic,GM,Chevy,Buick,Oldsmobile, etc... Cost alot of money. The Firebird and Camaro are sister cars. GM had desinged the Firebird as a another muscle car to compete with the sales of the Mustang. The Firebird was actually one of the orginal desings they were gonna use on the 68 Camaro, but decided to use the design we see on the 68 today

  • I know the history but and I know the reason why, but all of the Pontiacs lost a lot of uniqueness, not all, but a lot after '78.

  • Yeah ik what you mean. It is funny how Pontiac saved Chevy at one time and now they just threw Pontiac to the curb. It's np. I hate when they do updates like this on here and facebook.

  • Yeah, I see what GM is doing and almost every Pontiac is eventually gonna be sold as a Chevy like the G8 I think is about to.

  • Idk if that's true, but I have heard of that. It could be a bunch of bs though. We will see.

  • I don't see why they wouldn't. GM is regaining a good relationship with Holden again too.

  • @lokrat2 I was under the impression that the turbo 301 was a Pontiac design, though not a great one.

  • The comment wasn't about the speed of the cars it was about the sell of the cars. GM has made sure to clamp down on the Trans Am, making sure it would not surpass the Vette. We all know in years long ago the Trans Am was made to and would out perform the Vette. If you give the Trans Am the LS9 and no super charger I am sure it would out sell both the Vett and the Camaro...

  • Shit LS9 damn. That's true but i am sure that would be pricy for that engine alone. Yeah In 93-95 the Ta out preformed the Vette. The 96-02 they under rated the Ls1 so the Vette would be the Champion. GM has to thats their sports car.

  • No, the Corvette's LS1 had different heads and more electronics like the fuel injection system for more power.

  • You do know the F-bodies has more air and exhaust restrctions so the Vette would be the champ. The LS1 was a fuel injected motor.

  • I remember watching this when I was about 7 and I wanted a trans am ever since, when I'm in the army I'll get one for now Im car less

  • bought my 6-speed WS6 at 55k for 11k. No one wanted to buy these cars last summer because of gas prices. When I bought mine, the prices for gas went down : )

  • I just don't get How you Have both your muscle cars under the Chevy banner. If you were going to bring any car back, it should have been the TA, This would have given chevy lovers the Vette, and Pontiac lovers the TA. Terrible leadership...

  • They're in completely different classes.

  • Susan doesn't get a passing grade for being a leader either, however, I know for a fact Lutz said the TA is dead as long as he was with GM. She is in charge of Pontiac, and it looks as if she just rolled over, and allowed Lutz and other to run a muck.

  • Bob Lutz killed this Car, and it is amazing he still has a job in an American company, considering he ISN'T AMERICAN. Who kills the Trans America, and keeps their job.

  • Actually it was Susan Dochtery. She also is responsible for the Aztec. Need I say more. Oh yes and she helped Kill Pontiac outright.

  • I can't believe I'd ever say this about a T/A, but they don't make 'em like that anymore...... bummer ): Thanks a lot GM.

  • @1981qrycher Thank Rick wagnoe for making Pontiac loose it idenity when he came into the company in 2000

  • Drop and LS7 engine off in the Trans Am

  • yeah, and putting in a LS9 would kill you

  • Put the LS9 in this car and you would kill the flagship Vette ZR1

  • FUck an LS9 Put an all aluminum 8.8L Pontiac V8 from butler performance and it will KILL ALL.

  • ya but if you put in the ls9 it would make it worth more than 60000 probably

  • you must not be very smart. The ZR1 would still blow it's doors off. The LS9+600+lbs less weight equals Death to T/A :) The ZR1 was built to kill. I'm a huge fan of the 4th Gen F-bodies so don't think just cause i have a Corvette that i'm a hater;)

  • The ZR1 is lighter as well as supercharged, I'm not saying it would be imposable for a Trans AM to beat a ZR1, it just takes a LOT of work and more then just and LS9. Not only would you swap the engine, but also the rear end, transmission, headers, clutch, camshaft, air intake, better gears, a 150 shot of Nitrous would probably get the job done. The stock ZR1 can do the 1/4 mile in about 11.2 where as the stock Trans AM can do it in about 13.4... 2.2 seconds is a life time on the track.

  • 2001 WS-6 6-speed Convertible owner here....15,000 on the odometer, it is simply an amazing machine to take out of the garage on a nice day and cruise down the highway, I can't believe its all gone now, this car was the best of the last of Pontiac and will be sorely missed

  • I have a 99 NHRA ws-6 with intake and exhaust mods plus an oversized cam. ROCKS ASS

  • I agree. Bob lutz gave Chevy the Vette the C6, regular vettes, the z06, and the zr1. Then he turns arounds and gives chevy the camaro, and about four models to go with it. A real manager would have given Pontiac the camaro budget...Why is he still the VP of GM. He is the reason GM needs a bailout, and please don't ask me if I think i could do better. I know I can...

  • About ten billion of that worthless american bailout money should have gone to resurrecting the legend, rather than wasting it on crap like the G8, G6, Sunfire, Grand Pricks, or whatever the hell they've wasted their money on.

    Sad.

  • The Sunfire and Grand Prix were both replaced in 2007 long before the bailout... that money did not go to help Pontiac one bit because GM killed Pontiac to get the bailout.

  • @VforVIBE uh the sunfire was replaced in 05, and the grand prix was replaced in 08

  • @IfYouOnlyHaddaBrain

You are right, GM should've used that bailout money to bring back the T/A instead just making them crap cars with the name G, this is why Pontiac was shut down.

What the hell we're they thinking?

If Chevy came out with the new Camaro then why not the T/A.

  • To answer your ? about y not bring back the Ta or firebird is because GM had plans on putting different motors in the car (except V6s were the same) The Ta's were supposed to have the 556hp LSA I believe it was compared to the SS 426hp. They had different exteriors and interiors. Unlike pervious years like the 4th gens that shared a lot of things in common.

  • "I will admit I am a foreign car buyer not by choice but by necessity. It is really sad to see them fall this far down the rabbit hole and yet they are and still falling....."

Gm is dumb as shit and still failing. Doesn't change the fact that they produced a kickass car that still makes boxy Challengers and Mustangs cringe. Shuckums.

  • It just seems amazing to me how my views of GM have changed over the past 10 years.....1998 I was in my Junior year actively looking for a car when I saw this commercial practically drooling over it and in the following months desperately saving cash to buy it......whereas now I basically cringe at going to a GM showroom.... I will admit I am a foreign car buyer not by choice but by necessity. It is really sad to see them fall this far down the rabbit hole and yet they are and still falling.....

  • I like This Car

  • Try finding one of these now. Ten years after its launch, it still kicks ass on anything on the road (both with looks, and with power). But can you find one to buy? Nope. Why? Cuz the few that were available, were sold to the few that had a clue.

    Think faster next time.

  • Yeah thats why when i saw mine i bought it without thinking of it!

  • Damn love this commercial. Makes me want to trade my trans am convertible for a t-top one!

  • hey man. im naked!! 6

  • i got a 2000 firebird for sale ca 209...

  • they only aired that comershal a couple times

  • I would kill to have a car like that.

  • Im getting one next week!!! Cant wait.

  • "It's so powerful, its scary"

    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • i remember when i first saw this commercial i was 12 and i flipped out.. sure thing 5 years later i bought one!

  • my dad has one

  • such a sexy car come check my videos of mine out

  • "might have to get another one :)"

Give Pontiac a couple years to come up with perfection. They did it before, I'm sure they'll do it again. And it will probably have at least 400hp under the hood, when it's released.

Most people follow the crowd. The winners follow the rare. Next?

  • Love this commerical!!! It fits the car perfectly. I loved my 02 WS6...might have to get another one :)

  • Got a black one just like it, ram air hood and all. Had it since '99, and everyone on the damn road STILL gets the hell out of my way when they see me coming. :)

  • shit man!

  • this commercial makes me CRY!!!! TEARS of joy for an awesome car! lol

    Trans Am will NEVER die.

  • this commercial rocks and the trans am rocks more...

  • Did they only make V6's or did they also make a V8? I've d been looking to maybe getting one my 200 GTI got wreck, but I could only find v6"s on the web.

  • yes v8 with 6speed

  • u don't really know much about this car do u? it's a frigin trans am, they don't come in v6s, base is 6, formula 8, trans am defenetly 8.

  • firebird is v6 with choice of options

fourmula is v8 with choice of options

trans am is v8 with every option (no choice)

  • they used to have the choice of 305 or 350, guess that changed with the ls1.

  • they dropped the 305 in 93 with the introduction of the lt1

  • you do get a choice with the v8 you could have the ws6 package!

  • yeah is hard finding a v8 espcially if you leave in the east coast! I could only find one in all new jersey which i bought! a v8 98 trans am! In the time ive had it never seen another one like it! Its awesome!

  • haha dope

  • wow i remember that
