What is even bigger news is that Avex has sold all shares of SM stock? Lee Soo Man has stated it wants to focus more on overseas markets but not sure that was a reason for his departure. This is worrisome as what will happen to artists like Boa and DBSK under Avex label?

I actually like this song Boa had made. I heard this song on the radio on one of my cities popular stations and it's in the clubs out here. They are loving it here, at least where i am. So for her being on that radio station is giving her a lot of play and getting her out there.

well, US music market is not really to open to asian or other minority races i guess, look, not even 1/3 real americans (non asian americans) would search her name and try to listen to what she sings. And asian singers are not ready for american music market either, because here it functions differently. In asia, there are tons of talk shows and variety shows where plays your music sooo often, and you just promote it while you doing other stuff that;s not really related to music. so idk..
I was reading a review about asian pop artist, and it said in order for asian artist to make it big in the u.s they have to bring something unique, not these mediocre attempts. I think that Sounding like every other american artist isn't going to help asian artist like utada and boa. I think they need to bring something unique to the U.S, something that stands out. Also I just dont think the U.S is ready for an asian artist due to stupid misconceptions.
I think I read the same article.Perfect example of an artist who broke the typical mainstream music and have a unique sound is Bjork. Her genre is alternative and experimental but people know who Bjork is.Boa and Utada sound similar to so many current artists of today...it's mundane. Funny thing is because of Utada's label doing more to promote her current album her first album she tried to break out her with is doing far better than "this is the one". It's for sure a different sound.

The song is cool and the video is pretty cool too, but I liked her better when she didn't sing mainstream.BoA had her unique style, there was no need to change it.

I actually like this song Boa had made. I heard this song on the radio on one of my cities popular stations and it's in the clubs out here. They are loving it here, at least where i am. So for her being on that radio station is giving her a lot of play and getting her out there.
I have to give it to BoA, I like her a lot.

well, US music market is not really to open to asian or other minority races i guess, look, not even 1/3 real americans (non asian americans) would search her name and try to listen to what she sings. And asian singers are not ready for american music market either, because here it functions differently. In asia, there are tons of talk shows and variety shows where plays your music sooo often, and you just promote it while you doing other stuff that;s not really related to music. so idk..

I was reading a review about asian pop artist, and it said in order for asian artist to make it big in the u.s they have to bring something unique, not these mediocre attempts. I think that Sounding like every other american artist isn't going to help asian artist like utada and boa. I think they need to bring something unique to the U.S, something that stands out. Also I just dont think the U.S is ready for an asian artist due to stupid misconceptions.

I think I read the same article.Perfect example of an artist who broke the typical mainstream music and have a unique sound is Bjork. Her genre is alternative and experimental but people know who Bjork is.Boa and Utada sound similar to so many current artists of today...it's mundane. Funny thing is because of Utada's label doing more to promote her current album her first album she tried to break out her with is doing far better than "this is the one". It's for sure a different sound.
