I have an original valvetronix from before they changed to the metal grill style models, I'm looking for a midi footswitch to go up and down the channels on it. The original footswitches are hard to come by and expensive, whenever I go into a shop and ask about getting one they always try flog me the footswitch for the later models that have a completly different output to the midi thingy on the amp! :) Does anyone know of another pedal I can use with the amp, there is a behringer one on amazon?
An so Vox is still lying to us after 503 years? Pure class A push pull? Maybe on it's best day. I also doubt a Russian 12AX7 will sound even close to any of my power tubes. Maybe they found a magic tube that can sound like a 6BQ5, 6V6, 6L6, EL34, 6550, KT66, and toss in the KT88 for fun. I know of a few Vox copies from the 60s that put Vox to shame. I sure as hell aint telling on you tube what they are!!! My mom kind of likes these modeling amps. She is 75 and deaf.LOL She can still play though!
I have the first version the VD60VT with the VC12 foot pedal and I love this thing.. sure, you can get better sound by buying things separately (head, pedals etc..) but if you're going to be playing a bunch of different things this type of amp is great. I can get sooo many sounds it's crazy.. I've played out with this and people have asked what I was using - btw - the autowah SUCKS!!! (just heard that part as I was typing =) )
@MrBadAssBoy123 ***hey,i have the vox valvetronix vt50,this amp has some features that are ok,but i dont care for the overall tone,so what i did to remedy my situation was this,i scored a peavey studio pro 112 transtube amp for 100$,i use it to dial in a fatter tone,so i use both amps together, big improvement...
Got so many drooling retards who bash amps because they couldn't tweaks knobs to save their life. The amp/s sound exactly like they do in this video, so if you dont like the sound, its not like anybody lied to you.
These are the best bedroom amps out there. Some people think they need a Mesa Boogie stack to play on anytime to get a good sound when really they are just wasting their money bigtime !
they could've name dropped the beatles stones u2 radiohead queen and who but instead they chose nickelback and simple plan to represent their products. nice.
okay, i have the Vox AD30 VT, the exact same thing as hes using, and i cant get half the distortion he has, even with the gain and everything maxed out, ive never been able to get a pinch harmonic with the distortion it has by itself, i need a boost pedal. ive had it for almost 2 years now. how did he get that sound?
@muzicboy99 pinches are created by the player not the amp. its a beginner mistake to think the amp is causing an issue. Ive had the AD30 for 2 years now too (i bought it out of a pawn shop for $180) and I can get wicked pinches out of it.
@lilticklez i have a Marshall JVM215c as well and i can squeals no problem with it, but its not even that, like this guy has a huge punchy sound coming from the UK 80's, and mine does not do that, like the sound is just different. And his Numetal sound is heavy as hell, but mine doesnt have that punch to it.
@muzicboy99 oh hmm, maybe you just got a faulty product? The numetal on mine kicks ass. With a really light reverb it is extremely heavy. I have a pretty nice guitar to go with it too though so that helps
My VOX vt30 fucking stopped working. the sound doesnt work anymore. i had it for a year and 3 months (just outside of the warranty) and now it doesnt wrk!!!!! i took it to get it repaired, but the guy said eerything is hardbuilt, so can be replaced...somone help me <:(
I love these babies and use two of them on stage with Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker guitars. However, despite what Vox say the combos are unreliable. Mine have been to the doc three times in two years. If they could build in greater reliability then these are world beaters. I've never used anything as versatile as these amp combos. Give e the endorsement deal and I'll continue to sing their praises!
You know... it occurs to me this hybrid stuff tries to imitate too many amps that are each unique in their own way, and fails to deliver the full-on awesomeness of each individual amp. Paul's diverse style of demoing these things not withstanding.
@DanteGuitar If it did match the full-on awesomeness of each individual amp, there would be no point in the others existing. Vox COULD have made the AC30 mode sound 98 percent of an AC30 sound... but didn't, so that they can still charge big money for it.
I guess it's time to break out my AKG mic and shoot my VT15 to cut the hype out and show what it really can do. The demo vid for the DA5 is better done for representing that little powerhouse. These VTs are totally great amps for the more bang for your buck crowd. Sweeter than the Valve-states by u no hoo... It's b/c of the valve in the power end. PLUS the reverb is standalone. Plus there's a master for the whole shebang. Awesome little feller, the VT15. And an attenuator! Schwiiiiing!
Im thinking of buying this. Is there any differences between AD30vt and VT30 or is it the same thing? It seems one of them have the valvetronix logo in the lower right corner and the other one has it just below the vox-logo in the upper left corner. Im just confused wheather its the same or if its two different models? What does AD stand for? Answers would make me happy :)
yeah man this thing is good for anything. This looks like one versitile piece of artwork here. that numetal and the uk 80s thing look like wicked hi gain and thatll definately be what you want if you like the way the amp sounds.
Valvetronix amps use a 12AX7 dual triode tube, wired directly to the transformer to simulate the power stage of a tube amp. As the owner of several tube amps, the power amp's behavior is more important to it's sonic character than the preamp side. I used to own a Vox AD120VTX head (it had two 12AX7s), and I loved it. It felt more real than any other modeling amp I ever played. The problem with these amps is their reliability, though. Mine lasted about a year before a major costly digital flaw.
the valvetronix is definitely better than marshall's mg series. i love marshall tube amps, but the mg series is shit. the clean tone is mediocre to average, depending on your eq, and the overdrive channel is the worst thing i have ever heard. marshall doesn't care about solid state.
@jackiXabaddon yea man I fully agree with you, I actually had the mg30dfx and its ok for a beginner amp, but when I stepped up to my Marshall tube amp the difference is huge! Out of this Vox and the Mg30dfx its a bit of an obvious choice :P
i got a vox by myslef the reasan i bought this amp i wanted to play old (hard) rock rock 70s 80s 90s rolling stones guns n roses metalica ac dc and many more of that stuff
and the vox has a distorition that is not finishe that means it gives a realy nive 70s 80s 90s distortion realy rough! for (hard) rock
I'm thinking of getting either this amp or the Peavey Valveking. I play classic rock, alternate, and punk. Which do you guys think is better? also looking to do some gigging (getting around the 50 watt range)
What happend to me was I went to buy the 50 watt VT but they didnt have it in stock so I got the 100 watt, and it is very good for gigging in my band, it is quiet enough when playing in your house and is loud enough for playing in a band :)
there is a tube in the amps circuitry, but not in the preamp, it is somewhere in the power amp circuitry (as someone told me)
I had an AD100VT, and will probably get another one when I will have the money again :p. Oh, and this is an excellent video displaying teh features of this amp.
It has one 12AX7 tube in it. The 12AX7 is traditionally a preamp tube but Vox includes a little output transformer and uses it as a low wattage power tube to drive its output transformer into saturation. As for which amp to choose, you gotta use your own ears and pick the one that sounds best.
I've always found valvetronix amps to be WAY too trebly for my taste. I play classic rock and blues, but I still prefer the Roland Cube for its "meatiness". What do you guys think?
The one I played (AD15vt) didn't have quite enough treble, and was too bassy and the bass response was too muddy for metal/heavy rock, but the clean channels and lower gain things were very, very good.
Hmm, check out a Bugera V22. Its a fairly good amp. Good for the styles your looking to play. Maybe even look into some of the tube Fenders at that price range. Only thing is you'd need a overdrive pedal of some sort to play Black Sabbath stuff.
it's loud enough & pretty good value for money sound-wise, but there are a few problems with them build quality wise.... eg: it's fairly easy to break the jack input socket, probably advisable to replace with a more heavy duty socket
i don't really like this amp for metal. the numetal setting kinda sounds shitty when you crank the volume up. i'm looking into buying a distortion pedal to solve that problem.
yea man there fukin perfect for blues. i play mainly blues n this is my number 1 choice of amp. especialy if you want a basy sort of sound the BBking sort of sound it nalis it, so clean cant rely go in2 detail bout it coz im shit at explainin yself but its perfect 4 blues. alot of amps if tried have flat sounds this amp has pure depth to its sound

Guitarhero9901 2 years ago
what would you recomend around 500 dollars
john73a 2 years ago
Depends, what style of music are you looking to play?
Guitarhero9901 2 years ago
i play alot of zeppelin jimi hendrix pink floyd the who black sabbath clapton classic rock stuff
john73a 2 years ago
Hmm, check out a Bugera V22. Its a fairly good amp. Good for the styles your looking to play. Maybe even look into some of the tube Fenders at that price range. Only thing is you'd need a overdrive pedal of some sort to play Black Sabbath stuff.

What's better VOX VT50 or LINE6 SPIDERJAM?
TheMrKlaratu 2 years ago
I'd go vox. I am replacing mine with a Vox, it is much better IMO. Line 6 is just too artificial to me. :/

I have a Line 6 Spider 2 and it sucks

They blew it on the cosmetics for sure. They're Vox, so why don't they Look like Vox amps!??!!!!
Go to Northcoast Music to buy these amps with classic Vox styling. Google Northcoast Music.

that damn metal grill, now it's harder to stick the headstock of the guitar in the amp :))

Is the AD50vt loud enough for gigs?
DNKOTOR 2 years ago
Good god yes
Danklin24 2 years ago 2
it's loud enough & pretty good value for money sound-wise, but there are a few problems with them build quality wise.... eg: it's fairly easy to break the jack input socket, probably advisable to replace with a more heavy duty socket
snafutube 2 years ago
i don't really like this amp for metal. the numetal setting kinda sounds shitty when you crank the volume up. i'm looking into buying a distortion pedal to solve that problem.
