Iverson was a great player who controlled the ball the entire game and put up gaudy numbers, while being very inefficient. Derrick is much bigger and stronger and can dominate the game with his passing in a way Iverson never could. Iverson at times averaged upward of 7+ assists but that's only because the guy had the ball the entire game and played more than 40 minutes a game. Iverson was a negative on defense. He broke down the 76er's defense by constantly gambling for steals.

Derrick Rose is a hell of a lot closer to a pure point guard than Allen Iverson was. He has much better vision. Also, Iverson never stuck an opposing pg. He got all his steals on gambling on defense. He wasn't a any kind of lock down defender. Iverson was a great player, but don't act like he is above comparison. He isn't among the Jordan's, Chamberlain's, Abdul Jabbar's, Russel's, Bryant's, or O'neal's.

Rose has been in the NBA only two years before this year. He's gotten markedly better every year he has played. Derrick Rose is never going to average 30 points because his team wouldn't want him to. A guy like Iverson taking as many shots as he did doesn't win you championships. He got the 76er's to the finals, but they were crushed after that, and he never got that far ever again. Even Kobe Bryant wasn't averaging 30 points with the Lakers winning the last 2 years.
