I have to admit I was a skeptic. And actually this song, while I love it, is not indicative of the album as a whole. I gave in and bought it after reading Sole and Alias rave about him on a forum. Seriously, there are beats that give Alias and Jel a run for their money (and check out his remix of Sole's "100 Light Years." It bangs harder than anything i've heard in a long time). Son Lux isn't for everyone, of course. But haters quick to judge are missing out. I know b/c i was one of them.
@boosterjets You're right, I didn't know what to think of this artist at first. I sifted through some songs the first being 'Break' and I was moved. Its not like any music I've heard before and I always give points for originality.
Well I suppose that's better then being sort of an idiot. I don't like doing things half way.
You know, if you're going to insult somebody it kind helps in the emotionally devastating category if you give reasons, as it stands some ironically named douche on the net thinks I'm an idiot...I think I can live with that.
Also, not everything Anticon releases is worthwhile. They release pretentious crap every now and then. Calling a bird, a bird just means you are mentally coherent...
this is easily one of the best releases that anticon has put out in the last 5 years and you judging it based on one lyric like that, couple with your wording has you coming across like a smug, sarcastic douche. well done, sir.
Once again you give your opinion without reasons to back it up. One of the best releases?
This is sub par. Pretentious lyrics all around. They reek of somebody trying to say profound things. It comes off with the emotions of a hallmark card.
Derivative. It sounds like he heard Tilman Ehrhorn while drunk in a cab ride home. Woke up the next morning trying to recreate the sound. Mille Plateaux shouldn't be an obscure music label to an electronic musician; obviously he knows that, you dont.
I was referring to the lyrics. They sound like something out of a beginning creative writing class. Art should be for its own sake. Things start to be pretentious when the artist is trying to say something big and important. Trying to be profound does not work.
I mean name checking Mille Plateaux, I'm not against the artier types of music.
I called the music itself derivative, not pretentious. I've heard what he's trying to do before, and done better.
this is music to feel sad with .. you have to be in a certain mood to apreciate this music ( well for me at least)

Wow, no he didn't. I'm pretty sure it's "walls and mazes" and "open places." Video is wicked. Album is transcendent.

Wow, he rhymed "walls and mazes" with "walls and places". Now that is clever.
Yeah, not going to pick this album up.
