In fact, he went through all the trouble of sabotaging the engines and radio equipment, then risked his life to stop the bomb from exploding; all to save his friends. I guess most of the clues given about it being a flashback were too subtle. But Jin does say "I've only been married for 2 months" which wasn't subtle at all.

Jin isn't dead. If a characters death isn't shown on screen, or at least the corpse is shown, then they're probably still alive. That's the way Lost works. We thought Jin died when the raft exloded at the end of Season 1, remember? Turns out he just floated ashore to the Tail Section, or as he called them, "Udders". The reason Sun is upset in the future is because for all she knows, Jin is dead. Maybe I'm just being hopeful cause I want him alive
