Thanks, my friend. This particular car is my dream car. Half muscle-car, half exotic car. And just like a lot of custom hot-rodders, I've spent lots of time on it's design and performance. As enthusiasts, we all love our cars because they are an expression of our selves. But I am really glad that others appreciate the ride too. If my family doesn't want it, you can buy it... when I'm dead =^)
Ok, why did I just tell myself this engine looks and sounds better than any girl I cud possibly ever meet, fuck, talk to, see, are marry on the face of this planet?
Yeah--so go ahead and youtube "4000 HP integra" or Bob Norwood's "Max 4" and you'll see just how smart and innovative this guy is. His I'Q' is probably up there with the HP his cars make.
Bob Norwood has a reputation for doing well thought out enhancements to Many cars...
BobNorwood has 137 listings in the Guinness Book of Automotive World Records. Creative thinking and technical insight have led to his many innovative developments in the areas of supercar and high-performance automotive design.
Bob is an artisan. Enzo would either like or hate him, but certainly would respect his ability.
And you sound like the kind of idiot who *upon winning the lotto* would buy an exotic just to look at it. Besides, what this guy did is is own biz' it's his car and he likes it as does countless others...saying the guy is an idiot for mucking about with HIS Ferrari is...Well... idiotic.
That was pretty awesome back in the early 80's....this is 2010...I know of mustangs that would beat those figures....STOCK sucks balls regardless what you drive....
man this is not the 80's if you want cars to survive they like people must change you wouldnt wear something from the 80s would you or maybe you would thats your problem "OLD MAN" hands down this is the baddest Testarossa i have ever seen only in america
Usually Koenig does all their custom paint I think in this color blue. You can definetly tell by the wide body etc, so Koenig then has the car painted in its custom blue color, which in the sunlight is amazing, but yeah, corsa red is nice.
Really amazing. The only thing i'm not sure of is the removal of the strakes from the side intakes. I know that's a Koenig thing and is pretty dramatic looking in itself, but I think the side strakes are such an iconic design I'd be very wary about removing them like that.
Not necessarily, depends on where the pipes lead, if there were working ducts in those fender flares, driving alone would force air into the turbos, then they spool faster, wicked car lol
Why would you want a turbocharger sucking hot air DIRECTLY from the engine bay? That extra piping will decrease overall spool time by a very small margin, but there will be slightly colder air available. Possibly increase spool time if it is infact routed to the fender well. Better for performance and life of the turbo.
No offense, but I think that's why they're building it, and not you.
There's another video of a TT Testarossa on youtube with the turbochargers coming directly out of the back of the car. Obviously it's not a problem. The reason they're building it and not me is because I don't have 70k+ to drop on a Testarossa. NOT because I don't know what I am doing.
that would be so dusty it wouldn`t even be funny. a regular road would have u picking up more dust then driving a truck down a gravel road, filters would be dirty every day u used it. i think these cars have a ram air setup built into the body work already so thatd be better then the swirling air and dust inbehind the car

it still looks awful. What's the point of showing this? it isn't a muscle car or a tuned japanese car, it's a luxurious sport car damn it. With those mods, btw, she worths nothing now...
Fine tuning and reassembly had not been completed on the car when I took this video. The grill was refitted beforeI took delivery. I agree that the grill is integral to the design of the rear end
@audigiovanni thats not true at all. This car is worth more than probably any stock one. Its a classic car, with a classic look, and a modern super power.

@Deph11s Would you add some informatician or astronaut behind the mona lisa on the painting ? It would be really great, will probablycost more, a classic painting with a classik look and modern characters . In about 50 years, this car will be forgotten, not the stock one :D
@audigiovanni well i guess some people prefer the factory 'perfection' over this car. I still think that this car is probably worth more.
I think that if you got a ride in it (wot run) you would change your mind :) (not saying I have ridden in this car, although I would LOVE to)
But with the mona lisa its a bit different. That is art, this is a car, something visual, olfactory, auditory, tactile etc. And also Ferraris are made to go fast, why not make it WAY faster.
@Deph11s I know that they are 2 intercooled Turbonetics turbos. I can try to find the model numbers...The engine pulled nearly 700hp (vs. 400 stock) on the dyno just before delivery. The Motec engine management system and free-flow exhaust were key to these numbers too
i am a nissan enthusiast but caamon you can't if a skyline can beat this or not i'll rather have this over an r32 or r33 idk about a r34 but great car
are you serious? i've been in a few skylines and they are quick but not that fast. i don't hate the skyline by any means but that turbo kit on this car easily can add 200+ rwhp alone. i'd bet a "tuned" skyline would get raped by this. it's gonna take something built to put up a decent fight.
SupraMatt, no, a tuned skyline would not get raped by this. Please see Smokey Nagata's R33 GTR, which does the 1/4 mile in the 9s, 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, and top speed of 226mph.
I'd take the Testarossa because I have been in love with it since I was a kid. The Testarossa with the turbo system could definitely top out higher than the skyline and looks way better. Plus, it is one of the most timeless designs ever. It looks better than all of the new over-the-top designs out there.
hmm the 6-cyl is not the problem, SW hit 246mph in his 1300hp supra in around 22 seconds. So a 1200hp skyline that hits 226mph max without any given time is not all that great
Once again, it comes down to aerodynamics. The Supra is much more aerodynamic and made for higher speeds than a R33 or R34 GTR.
I am not bebating you, but look at Jeremy Clarkson testing one of the Jun R33 GTR. 0-200 12-14 seconds, yet it was an everyday driver as stated by Jun. It only had 1000hp, but was faster than 1400hp GTRs because of its tuning.
As a kid, I always loved the testarossa, but it won't rape a tuned R33/34 GTR.
Oh, I'm not debating about the testarossa wooping ass, mostly likely it won't. Thought about gear ratios? true, you will go faster with more horsepower, but the 6th is gonna tackle you if the tranny is stock or the ratios are close to stock. So there's a lot more to it than just aerodynamics
FourSided, I am a New Yorker. I've only owned two cars in my life: A 91 300zx twin turbo (9-years back) and a Buick Grand National (7-years back). Yeah, horsepower does not always equate to the speed since the transmission/drive shaft/rear gearing is resposible for sending it to the wheels.
The Ferrari Testarossa was my favorite car growing up as a kid. By far. I was only 9, when I read reviews on its stiff clutch and difficult shifting. Plus, I would tune into Miami Vice just 4 the car
FourSided: I was young when I bought the GN. It was modified with a bigger turbo, 36-lb injectors, k&n air filter, polished plenum, and an exhaust system. The previous owner referred me to a mechanic, but that was the biggest mistake. I remember picking it up from the shop and the a fellow mechanic said, "Chris, I want nothing to do with this car." Low and behold, I found out the moron was cruising and abusing me ride. He was a straight up piece of garbage. I sold it, but it was not...
...the end of it. His cousin bought it off of me and I regrettfully left the registration stickers on. Then I found out that the morons were driving it around. How? They got tickets for false plates and the tickets came straight to me.
I called them and recorded them. They all pointed the fingers to each other, but I recorded each conversation. I told them to pay for the tickets or I'll file charges based on the recordings. From then, I changed in terms of materialism. No car at all.
So you don't drive at all now? And what a story. I've had friends with such experiences, it's a real pain in the back and sometimes it's REALLY hard to prove their wrong deeds.
Thinking about that car... that must suck, they're a real investment. I guess they weren't all that great of a deal back then, or were they?
FSP: Even in 01 and 02, they were considered a classic. Mine was rare. It had the factory moon roof. The parts were plenty back then, especially with a site called "kirban performance." They had everything and anything for the car, but now, parts are scarce.
I live in NYC and it is one of the few places in the world where you can get away without a car. Despite my education and profession, I look awkward without a car, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Finally, they owned lots real estate, mechanic shops, and contracting companies. They were greedy and pretended to be loyal to each other. I exposed them to each other and to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
I could have went onward with vengeance since they could have been locked up for what they did, but I spared them.
They all had families and kids, which sickens me. More thieves and dishonesty for the future.
I did new car shopping afterwards, but car salesmen are very draining.
They had lots to lose. I think you did the right thing, any other scumbag would've sucked the living hell out of them. Anyways, you're lucky to live up north. Living between Florida and Georgia was the biggest mistake of my life. I'm just not used to this lifestyle.
My best guess would be that you have a job in the chaotic manhattan:) If you do, then, a car would be pretty useless. But you could keep one for the weekends, a little project car..a little, time demanding, money sucking one hehe
FSP, it is always about balance. Growing up my whole existance around the subways, urban settings, and lifestyle takes a toll. Manhattan is a spectacle, but when I reflect about it, it is one messed up place. You have the extremes of the rich, working class, and poor all within feet of each other. Parking can cost 300-400 a month is some parts of the city.
I thought of getting an NSX for about 25-28k, but with the economy, I'd rather play it safe for now. Take care FSP. Good talk :o)
Very underpriced. If you are looking for a mid-engined, twelve cylinder car, this is the best value out there. Honestly, even scheduled maintenance is expensive but it is very reliable exotic car
Coincidentally, the wheels in this video are, in fact, HRE Series 547. They are, in my opinion, absolutely the best for this car. I have had them painted dark grey now, however.
The TR went out of production in like '92. Then came the 512TR and finally the
512M. Mine was a stock 1990 TR. Ferrari has not had a mid-engined twelve in production since the Enozo supercar (which doesn't need turbos or anything else =^)
LOVE IT! 800-1000 HP is common for TT Testarossas, I've seen some as high as 1200 HP. I'd love to prowl around in 4th gear riding a tidal wave of torque in that monster. The in-gear roll-on acceleration of a car is enough to leave most anything on the road for dead, no need to downshift. That is a car that must love the open highway!
The Testarossa has an flat12 engine the license plate says V8. And i'm not saying that the car is crap it's brilliant but what i'm telling is that license plate doesn't match the car spec(no offense to the owner)
I have to thank the community for clearing up the misunderstanding. It has happened before. Our friends are, of course, right. I have boy/girl twins and I used to watch the Superfriends(now called the Justice League) every Saturday morning. Do you remember the eternal phrase ,"WonderTwin powers : Activate"?
Mother of god............just curious (you obviously have the money so it is truly a pointless question).........what is the average fuel consumption on that beast?
Saw this car in person around 40th & Adeline in Oakland yesterday. The video doesn't do it justice, the car sounded insane even at idle! Would have loved to see you floor that thing dude, but I guess no such luck.. ;)
Right on, Brother. Are you from around here? I'm taking the beast out for a spin tonight to celebrate New Year's. I'll probably be at Godspeed in Oakland around midnight. If you a gearhead, that's where the party will be. Thanks for the comment
I drove Carmack's twin turbo TR in Texas in the 1996. 1198 BHP. Spun the tires in 3rd without trying at 85. Another Norwood creation. How did you get the car legal in OakTown?
My motor is a stage 1 intercooled. It runs strong and it's very reliable. the Motec EMS allows for fine tuning and diagnostics if neccessary. As I said, Norwood Performance can install a stage 4 kit that pushes a reliable 1000hp. They have been doing these cars for a while and have it down to an exact formula
Smaller turbo = quicker spool up, and if an engine this size can handle the back pressure in the manifold from the small turbos so no blow off necessary.
Nearly 7psi... When I get the 'engine-out' service done, I may have Norwood modify the internals + throttle bodies and increase boost to achieve 1000bhp
Haha, you're funny... There are more than 50 Koenig and Hamann Ferrari conversions out there and they are all more welcome at Ferrari Club meets than higher-production Ferrari's that anybody with a wad of cash can walk in and buy
this is blasphemy why the hell would you turbo a ferrari.. and seriosuly you took out the side grills? you sir have just ruined a perfectly good testarossa.. if you wanted a turbo ferrari buy a 288 or a f40... well at least it wasnt a rare ferrari..
I understand your feelings about Ferrari design. But if you look at LeMans Ferrari's, they are heavily modified for racing. I did most of the mods for increased performance. The original installation of the side grills was mandated by some government agency. Removal of the side grills is a German idea that I (and many other owners) feel looks cleaner.
well in america we dont do things like this.. i know germany is known for this stuff didnt know it was from out of country.. america is all about originallity. how much PSI you running on it?
I grew up watching people modify their muscle cars in America. Better fuel and air delivery, better suspension, better brakes. And it's the old-school hot rodders that do the major body mods as well. I am running 6 to 8 lbs. of boost. The Motec EMS helps a lot. The car runs perfectly.
German tuner Koenig made biturbo, bicompressored four intercoolers Testarossa had 1000 horsepower in 1990! Top speed was 360 km/h, 0-100 3.2 sec and the price 1,2 million Deutsche Mark
BUT IT WAS JUST THE SECOND BEST IN HIS AGE
Geiger Corvette Sledgehammer was faster and cheaper 400+ km/h 450.000 Usd.
i agree, the turbo is a good idea, but i dont like the idea of body kit. nice car though, its hard to bash on a car i know ill never own. beautiful job
I definitely hesitiated before touching the body and the motor on this car. I cringed when I saw pieces being removed/replaced. But we must keep in mind that Enzo, himself, was willing to modify his automobiles for preferred customers (like the 8 Ferrari station wagons built to order for the Sultan of Brunei).
what makes it a real car the fact that someone got raped on the price dont get me wrong i love all cars but the price has nothing to do with rather its real or not put it on a quarter mile with my 92 talon with less than $30,000 in it and its going to come in last

FourSidedPiston 2 years ago
FSP: Even in 01 and 02, they were considered a classic. Mine was rare. It had the factory moon roof. The parts were plenty back then, especially with a site called "kirban performance." They had everything and anything for the car, but now, parts are scarce.
I live in NYC and it is one of the few places in the world where you can get away without a car. Despite my education and profession, I look awkward without a car, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
The culprits were scum....
Lossforwords78 2 years ago
Finally, they owned lots real estate, mechanic shops, and contracting companies. They were greedy and pretended to be loyal to each other. I exposed them to each other and to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
I could have went onward with vengeance since they could have been locked up for what they did, but I spared them.
They all had families and kids, which sickens me. More thieves and dishonesty for the future.
I did new car shopping afterwards, but car salesmen are very draining.
Lossforwords78 2 years ago
They had lots to lose. I think you did the right thing, any other scumbag would've sucked the living hell out of them. Anyways, you're lucky to live up north. Living between Florida and Georgia was the biggest mistake of my life. I'm just not used to this lifestyle.
My best guess would be that you have a job in the chaotic manhattan:) If you do, then, a car would be pretty useless. But you could keep one for the weekends, a little project car..a little, time demanding, money sucking one hehe
FourSidedPiston 2 years ago

Honestly, even scheduled maintenance is expensive but it is very reliable exotic car

very nice car, just got to get different wheels! it just doesnt look right. we have HRE on our TR
ReekingHavoc702 2 years ago
Coincidentally, the wheels in this video are, in fact, HRE Series 547. They are, in my opinion, absolutely the best for this car. I have had them painted dark grey now, however.

I like the wheels. car looks great.

I get questions? a horse who is? two that reach speeds? and how much you spent? ' (I am Italian and I am also a 1988 Testarossa, but it's original)

not new?
cba999casey 2 years ago
The TR went out of production in like '92. Then came the 512TR and finally the
512M. Mine was a stock 1990 TR. Ferrari has not had a mid-engined twelve in production since the Enozo supercar (which doesn't need turbos or anything else =^)

hahaha the turbos are the two round metal devices with large black pipes sticking out them - toward 'the rear of the engine bay'. All good

That engine bay is enough to make a grown man cry

Why?
That's gotta be the nicest Testarossa I've ever seen.
JDMHustler 2 years ago 2
The Testarossa has an flat12 engine the license plate says V8. And i'm not saying that the car is crap it's brilliant but what i'm telling is that license plate doesn't match the car spec(no offense to the owner)

How did you get the car legal in OakTown?
zavatone 3 years ago
My motor is a stage 1 intercooled. It runs strong and it's very reliable. the Motec EMS allows for fine tuning and diagnostics if neccessary. As I said, Norwood Performance can install a stage 4 kit that pushes a reliable 1000hp. They have been doing these cars for a while and have it down to an exact formula

Nope. I'm not sure if any production car had halogens in 1990
vreddy14 3 years ago
that car is sick, but wheres the blow off valve??? and why are the turbos so tiny.
B00stD 3 years ago
Smaller turbo = quicker spool up, and if an engine this size can handle the back pressure in the manifold from the small turbos so no blow off necessary.
acalthu 3 years ago
Umm the turbos aren't that small...

wow that is a awesome ferrari. and it does look better without the side grills.

It's a pleasure to see true performance. Looks like I need to move to germany. Have you put her on the dyno yet?
haochithegreat 3 years ago
It was fully dynoed during tuning and mapping at Norwood in Dallas. Depending upon ambient temperature, it produces 650 to 700bhp at the crank
vreddy14 3 years ago
do you think the use of forced induction will impact on the engines life span?
blkidiot 3 years ago
Probably... I did a leakdown and compression check about 1k miles ago though and it was as good as new. This 18 year-old car has just
35k (superfun miles, of course)on the odometer. The car has not been out on a track yet... We'll see, I suppose
vreddy14 3 years ago
this is blasphemy why the hell would you turbo a ferrari.. and seriosuly you took out the side grills? you sir have just ruined a perfectly good testarossa.. if you wanted a turbo ferrari buy a 288 or a f40... well at least it wasnt a rare ferrari..
veilsidei 3 years ago
I understand your feelings about Ferrari design. But if you look at LeMans Ferrari's, they are heavily modified for racing. I did most of the mods for increased performance. The original installation of the side grills was mandated by some government agency. Removal of the side grills is a German idea that I (and many other owners) feel looks cleaner.
vreddy14 3 years ago
well in america we dont do things like this.. i know germany is known for this stuff didnt know it was from out of country.. america is all about originallity. how much PSI you running on it?
veilsidei 3 years ago
I grew up watching people modify their muscle cars in America. Better fuel and air delivery, better suspension, better brakes. And it's the old-school hot rodders that do the major body mods as well. I am running 6 to 8 lbs. of boost. The Motec EMS helps a lot. The car runs perfectly.

Norwood built several of these. 1200 hp each!
sir62092 3 years ago
German tuner Koenig made biturbo, bicompressored four intercoolers Testarossa had 1000 horsepower in 1990! Top speed was 360 km/h, 0-100 3.2 sec and the price 1,2 million Deutsche Mark
BUT IT WAS JUST THE SECOND BEST IN HIS AGE
Geiger Corvette Sledgehammer was faster and cheaper 400+ km/h 450.000 Usd.

I'm kinda torn on this one, on one hand, it's nasty as Kung-fu Jesus, but on the other hand, it seems sacriligeous to alter a Ferrari in any way.

i agree, the turbo is a good idea, but i dont like the idea of body kit. nice car though, its hard to bash on a car i know ill never own. beautiful job
accordv6er 3 years ago
I definitely hesitiated before touching the body and the motor on this car. I cringed when I saw pieces being removed/replaced. But we must keep in mind that Enzo, himself, was willing to modify his automobiles for preferred customers (like the 8 Ferrari station wagons built to order for the Sultan of Brunei).
