  • if you don't like neds, you don't like music. choon. now if i only i had a pound for every t-shirt they produced....

  • I just heard this on VH1, then I had a panic attack. :D

  • fuck i miss the 90's. kill your plasma

  • I saw these in 1990 at Leeds uni. Good gig, they were full of energy.

  • lol, they've inserted ads now onto this track - fuckin irony eh?

  • Okay, my parents were right about how crappy the music I listened to in the early 90's was. Sorry mom and dad.

  • Saw them at Newcastle Riverside in autumn 1990. Few pints in the Barley Mow (sadly missed) beforehand, remember pogoing to this song. Happy days...

  • Love this :-) Why was I seven when all my fave music was coming out?

    I need a Doctor :-)

  • 1:42 - 2:15 raging bliss....simmer-explode.

  • this never gets old

  • Two bass players. Fucking great...

  • @paul888smith

you should've seen em live... they were awesome!!!! i couldn't get over how they had 2 bass players at the time, & i ended up picking the bass up shortly after. Luckily i saw them twice in '95 (they broke up later that year & even though they've reformed, they haven't been back here).

  • Does anyone know where i can get some bass tabs?

  • Great job on the restoration!

  • I hate U2

  • does anyone have the instrumental?

  • this sounds like half man half biscuit

  • @newwkicks HMHB? Don't think so to be honest. Their sound is quirkier, less expansive. And certainly the lyrical content is miles apart...

"They didn't choose their cat, the cat chose them

They didn't choose their cat, the cat chose them

They didn't choose their cat, the cat chose them

And what'ye know, IT"S GOT IT'S OWN WEBSITE"

  • Great job & congrats on the video . Love it & just posted it to Kill Your TV facebook wall .

  • NCAA 06 So Classic man, this track is crazy to... This is how indie rock should sound!

  • Cool band. I know the lead singer Jonn Penney :)

  • Sourbridge if you ask me ... STUFFIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!Eleven

  • "This is the "Under the Stairs" version made when the original video didn't fit MTV's rules for whatever reason."

    Ah, irony.

  • Cant believe it's been twenty years since I first heard God Fodder. Just listened to this album again recently and it has 1991/1992 written all over it....the two most exiting years of music for me. SO many great memories of my 18/19 age. Im 38 now with a kid, mortgage, and a career, but I still go to shows, buy albums, and try to discover new music. Nothing will ever stop me from giving up that part of my youth.

  • fuck I miss the 90's. great music, great drugs, great friends

  • Thanks Alan M. Ye ROCKETH! THE FINDELLS rock WAYYYYYY MORE tho!!

  • i dont know why but just listening to NEDS reminds me of everythin i loved about being 18. if i could have those days again..

  • the 90s were frutin awesome for music .

  • 17 people dont like television

  • @lilypie07 Given the subject of the song, I'd say 17 people LIKE television.

  • NCAA 2006

  • God was I ever that young, brings back memories

  • ncaa 06

  • Great band! Underrated, should have went further than they did :(

  • I still have this album on cassette, man those were the days. Thanks for posting this.

  • From Stourbridge, was good days seing the local bands make it. :)

  • I feel like I'm only just coming down from all the stuff I did in the early Nineties, anyone else feel this way?

  • Great job. thanks

  • @timsea I was there too!

  • thumbs up for NCAA 06!

  • I saw them with Jesus Jones in Toronto at the Concert Hall in 91 or 92 (it was all kind of a haze in those days) with some people I haven't seen in almost 20 years. God I'm old. But it was a great concert!

  • I feel so old watching this, I saw them play in York in 1989.

  • There was smoking in it. That's why it didn't make it onto MTV's 120 Minutes with Dave Kendoh.

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • saw them in 92 with jesus jones at the paladium in hollywood! great stuff!

  • NCCA FOOTBALL 06 BItches!!!!!!

  • @RynoBGood fuck boring football.

  • Jonn and the boys are back together - still touring, though mainly Christmas gigs. *nedsatomicdustbin*com Still sounding awesome. Stuffies are touring still too, although the lineup has changed a lot.

  • wonder what john penny do's now, first ever gig i was 12 in 1992 at st georges hall bradford watching these. happy memories,

  • @MrFloat223 Apparently he arsed around in bands for a few more years then decided to cut his damn hair and get a job........ He is a web designer now.

  • Last band i ever saw live at the astoria, shit i miss that place but what an excellent night. They was on fire that night.

  • @buttplug101 Saw them at the Camden Palace.... wonder if that place is still around !

  • @bigtimetopbanana yeah its still about but now its called the camden koko. Im sure its a registered building so they cant demolish that place at least.

  • still sooo good!

  • damn good song i think this was in ncaa 06

  • It's as good as the day I first heard it..... Brings back good times before careers, mortgages and kids. I'm going to start listening to them more!

  • AWESOME TALENTED BAND. HOT guys 2.

  • i remember these. happy dayz...

  • Awesome stuff, Thanks for the memory's..

  • I had this tape with me on a training deployment in 92-ish. My Gunnery Sargeant was walking by my hummer, heard it, reached in and hit the eject button on my little "boom box" and chucked the tape out into the desert. "I dont wanna hear that silly shit"..and he walked away. That was the last time I heard this band.

  • @VoodooPolitico haha, awesome story!

  • GOOD GOD!!! If this song don't make u get up and say "FUK IT" I'm kicking life in the ASS and enjoying the ride!

  • this is a blast from the past...damn :)

  • the advantages of stopping watching tv are great. you catch sleep more easily and you wake up more easily also. now the idea is in mass conciousness research can be started about the very negative effects of watching tv.

  • these guys inspired me to wear doc martens back in the 7th grade

  • @nanotek412 Me too and I am still wearing a pair now :)

  • killer

  • saw them live at Leicester Poly - Wow!

  • @headotter

Was there too. The floor used to shake in that place!

  • Who was in brum on the 25th, and who was at Beautiful Days in August? The Neds crowd is the last of the violent happy faces!!!! -and it hurts me to say this I'm an Army fan!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

  • @NotNaughtyJustRude I was at Beautiful Days, Neds were awesome. Just a shame they were on friday, I was feeling a bit exhausted by the time they came on coz I'd been up since the crack of dawn and driven all the way from Hull so I didnt enjoy it as much as I could have done lol

  • Killer song !!! covered this one in me school band - we were "The Learys". Big shout to Nick N., Morge, and Smalley in case you're reading this!

  • I found this CD as I was going threw some old stuff and slapped it on the car stereo and even today, it sounds better than 95% of what passes for Rock Radio. All I know is that I am probably the only middle-age guy blaring this from a car in Missouri in the past few years. I also just found an old POP WILL EAT ITSELF and WONDER STUFF CD. Back out to blow up my speakers........

  • @KoenHead

you are so right! The stuff from 88-91 was the very best. Carter USM, The Farm, Jesus Jones, Pixies, Ride, Inspiral Carpets.

  • @julzyboy1973

Good bands, all! I also remember playing Inspiral Carpets "Commercial Rain" over and over when I first got the CD when it came out. Love that song! Was also a big fan of LUSH (both musically and was in lust with Miki & Emma), Blue Aeroplanes , and the underrated band, Kingmaker, just to name a few off the top of my head. Agreed, julzyboy1973, that was a GREAT time for Alt-Rock. Cheers!

  • @KoenHead you are so right along with Jesus Jones, EMF,Sponge

  • @KoenHead I found NAD in the 90s. just a random pick out of the columbiahouse scam. every song on the "tape" was a winner. I'm tormenting my girlfriend now!

  • @KoenHead lol im the same!!!!! but i live in colchester uk

  • @MrJaylonsdale

Cheers, MrJaylonsdale! Yeah, I should be blaring Country Music out of the jalopy in this part of the U.S. (and I even like a little Country music these days), but I don't have to tell you how much better NED'S sounds when cranked to 11 while tearing up the Freeway!

  • @KoenHead AWESOME Poppies was my first CD (stole it from my sister) 1st heard Neds when i got a ride to work from my boss and he was in his early 50's. you are not alone lol

  • @kukuzumusu Yeah, some of us older guys (and gals) can still get our Rock on every now and again. Thankfully, I still get that rush when I hear some loud, aggressive music. Hope I never lose that........

  • @KoenHead haha my dad blares screeching weasel

  • @KoenHead oh snap, PWEI. I used to listen to that first album. The early PWEI tees, and album covers by the Designers Republic still look cool to this day. PWEI was never great though, I always wanted them to sound as good as their albums looked. That didn't stop me from seeing them live of course.

  • @kemicon Yeah, but PWEI were surely one of the progenitors of the whole sample-driven, Rap-Rock genre and I personally thought 1989's, "This Is the Day,This Is the Hour,This Is This! " was a really solid record and still stands up today. So maybe we have them to blame for annoying 'lesser' bands (in my opinion) like Limp Bizkit and Korn, but The Poppies at least had a sense of humor and it's cool to see Clint Mansell's name popping up in so many movie scores lately. Cool Album Artwork, yes.

  • @KoenHead ....good work fella!! That was a great time to be young!! I saw all these bands many times when young. Poppies were really fucking amazing live!! Saw them at least 5 times!

  • @coltsuperocean10 I'm envious, my friend, because when most bands from across the pond came to the states for shows, in those days anyway, they would never come near Kansas City, where I reside. They would play New York and L.A., and maybe come as close as Chicago. So I never saw Neds, The Poppies, or The Wonderstuff.....Dammit!

  • @coltsuperocean10 Same here! I saw them at the Marquee on 21st Street in NYC way back when.

  • @KoenHead Ever heard of The mighty lemon drops ?

Another good 90's brit indie band.

  • @00twanga00 Had an album of theirs, as well. Loved the song, "Fall Down (Like The Rain)." The Rock Music coming out of the UK has always been stellar, but that late-80's/Early 90's period was indeed very fruitful. I also recall listening to that first STONE ROSES album repeatedly when it arrived, and still think it's perfect. I also still play Primal Scream's "Screamadelica." all the time. It's great that NED'S has me remembering all of the other great music from that time......

  • @00twanga00 .....I'd also be remiss to not mention, after posting my response, that MY BLOODY VALENTINE's album, "Loveless," is one of my favorite albums of the 90's. Those guys sounded like they were from another planet! Damn you, Neds, you have me digging through boxes of CDs to uncover more gems from this era!

  • @00twanga00 Wolverhamptons finest (?)

  • @KoenHead

yeah i get weird looks blasting Neds, Wonderstuff Charlatans UK Mighty Lemondrop

    great toons!

  • @KoenHead hah great story. i blast this stuff and the pursuit of happiness, voice of the beehive, gene loves jezebel, transvision vamp, jesus and mary chain(head on), jesus jones, plus a ton of good california surf punk like chemical people, D.I., Tsol, agent orange, the vandals, etc all the time.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork You have tremendous taste! I have stuff from most of the bands you mentioned and even remember thinking that at the time, The Pursuit Of Happiness should have been bigger than they were. Their first two albums are, from start to finish, completely wonderful. Also was a big fan of The Vandals. No matter how old I get, I will still love all of this music. I will probably be blasting The Circle Jerks and Black Flag in the nursing home years from now!

  • @KoenHead haha right on man, great minds think alike eh? I think that music today is missing those components of straight forward hard/fun rock and the labels would rather push weak shit so it's incredibly hard to find these bands, at least the good ones!

I've put a bunch of new stuff on my page from those beach-punk bands. they all play out here in socal and tour around the u.s. sometimes because they were like 15 y/o when they started.

i also have a few newer bands on their. check those out

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork I'll do that, thanks!

  • @KoenHead stuffies, poppies and neds is the original stourbridge collection, good work.

  • @bbenihana1 ....and how a Rock loving guy in Middle America ever discovered them is a mystery, as NONE of these bands unfortunately got any radio play here. Even college radio wasn't playing this stuff back in the late 80's. Thank good that some cool record shops here received British Music mags and I would buy stuff based solely on good reviews. To this day, MOJO and UNCUT are essential monthly reading for me. But yeah, these bands were ALL pretty darn wonderful.

  • @KoenHead

Fancy a few beers in stourbridge???

  • @00twanga00 That would be awesome......I live in the middle of the U.S., so maybe I could catch a plane and bring along some fine Kansas City Barbecue! Would be cool, though.....

  • @KoenHead you bring the food ill get the beer!!!

  • @KoenHead

The bassists from both the neds and pwei teach at my college,

Have both of them once a week haha

  • @DjLKRW didnt neds have 2 bassists?, so that makes 3 not 2 :)

  • WhAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? (Sorry Capslock)

    HAHAHAHAHHAhahah

    Loveable.. M

  • really fun to listen to lead guitarist in this band

  • wow this takes me back. Brilliant.

  • Most under-rated band to ever acclaim any sort of fame in my honest opinion.

  • holy shit!! i had this tape too. talk about goin' way back.

  • Amazing video, thanks for posting. Takes me back to the 'good old days' of music :)

  • This guy is totally rockin out harder than the song is being played...I still liked the song 15yrs ago...

  • Just awesome.

  • still a reason to play ncaa football 06

  • @almightyseancore Content hasn't improved much. Wow, now I can see crap even better!

  • KILL!!!!

  • @lesvegas5 YOUR!!!!

  • I had this one tape... TAPE!

  • in high school we had many a band and i played some bass, always we had neds in mind for those bass lics, some good stuff,

  • wow. i'm drunk.

listening to music i haven't heard since my sophomore year in high school. stone roses, wonder stuff, trash can sinatras, ned's- being in america in 1991 and listening to precious, affected, rocking music from limeys several time zones away... i think i'll go take a shower or iron my shirt or something. this is too good.

  • @SeanNaNaNa wow... i am drunk - and i think i love you. i prefer ironing my shirts from within the shower - it feels more 90's that way...

  • @olddirtycrayon cool. let's fuck.

  • fuck, this takes me back to high school days, what a kick ass song, what a kick ass band. why cant music be this good today?

  • Soap for sore eyes

  • Wow 2 bass players living life in this band. Awesome song. NCAA 06 best college game ever

  • Well said bubbajimkid. good to here from you again

  • @bubbajimkid Agreed. Lmao

  • Total classic. Reminds me of getting pissed at the hummingbird in birmingham many years ago. Good times. Sounds fuckin great on a good stereo.

  • They got their name from a "goodies" script, as i remember

  • Comment removed

  • 2 Bass players holy crap thats sweet but what a cool band name wonder where they came up with that

  • The name comes from the title of a sketch from the '50's BBC Radio comedy show "The Goons"

  • @MetalFeast9 The Goon Show. Worth a torrent *cough* purchase if you havn't heard them
