was up bro i used to live off garden highway back in the day when i was going to uti... thats a nice sounding 3vzfe... i was thinking of doing the same swap in my 93 celica but backed out till i buy an mr2... id prefer that engine in a rwd car.. ur car would be fun to drive where i now live in the santa cruz mountains..
I have a '91 na I'd like to swap with something with more power, trying to get some #s together. the 3sgte might be out of my $ range since I don't have the means to do any of the work myself. What would I be looking to spend on the v6, labor and all included?
@TheOmegaeyes Wait can You look at my Mr2 on my Videos and tell me what it is i need to do to make it faster? do you mean change the engine? or can i just put a turbo on my car..? and keep the engine well maintained?
@edshift: I need to drive my mr2 again. (it's SORNed on my drive right now) But from memory this doesn't look too much faster than a 3s-ge in good health.
I know the V6 would pull better from there but it's not an OMG moment for me.
nice sound! i'm looking into this swap too.. i have a 3sgte with a blown turbo, and still trying to decide whether to upgrade the turbo or just go for a swap.
Im in the same situation as you bud, Im saving for the swap, simply for reliability and longevity, and the noise. I hate that you always have the engine and turbo on the mind, much easier to just have the engine on it!
yea. the 3vz is good once you put it in a car that sheds some serious pounds over a camry v6. I know the guys on CL said the 3vz could get to about 7000rpms and i didnt believe it. i believe it now!
Thats pretty quick, I have the same engine in my rev2 mr2, ive head some headwork and a fidanza flywheel and the y-pipe mod on the exhaust and I dont think mine is as fast as yours, nice vid.
what is there to do to the mr2 to get the speedometer working?

@Motorchevytoyota You're right. My bad.

Why would you ever swap a 3vz into such a sexy car. Even die-hard Toyota fans will tell you the 3.0 makes a better boat anchor than an engine.

its the stock na mr2 5 speed
Sketchhs 2 years ago
I figured it was. I said that but youtube killed my comment or something. Probably not the best ratios, but hey. cool vids
LLCoolPass 2 years ago
@Sketchhs And he's short shifting. (probably because the V6 can handle fewer revs I guess.)
I'm sure my redline in my rev3 na is marked a bit beyond that. Rev limiter doesn't happen until 7250.
Was this a US NA?

But I may have lost perspective.
It's been a while since I drove it.
I'm still very tempted by the V6 mr2 mod tho.
It's still the best car I've ever owned.

sweet! i was wondering what to do with my 91 na mr2, has an oil leak and high miles, needs a 3vzfe for sure. how much did this run you?
Tboom123 2 years ago
doing it myself it cost about $1000
Sketchhs 2 years ago
dang that sounds bad ass
viktord1 3 years ago
About 70lbs MORE than a 5sfe, about 20lbs MORE than a 3sgte. But well worth it!
Sketchhs 3 years ago
I heard the V6's are 70lbs lighter than the 3sgte

They were built well enough to double the horsepower. I have one in my 1993 Camry, but it's still stock. 185 hp

Sacramento, i'd be happy to do some more of this swap
Sketchhs 3 years ago
@Sketchhs I'm interested except I want to do it to a mk1. I'd be willing to pay for some services I plan on doing as much as I can myself.
