  • what is there to do to the mr2 to get the speedometer working?

  • @Motorchevytoyota You're right. My bad.

  • Why would you ever swap a 3vz into such a sexy car. Even die-hard Toyota fans will tell you the 3.0 makes a better boat anchor than an engine.

  • was up bro i used to live off garden highway back in the day when i was going to uti... thats a nice sounding 3vzfe... i was thinking of doing the same swap in my 93 celica but backed out till i buy an mr2... id prefer that engine in a rwd car.. ur car would be fun to drive where i now live in the santa cruz mountains..

  • what a 3vzfe ?

  • @l091805772 toyota 3.0 v6

  • @l091805772 toyota 3.0 v6 is the 3vzfe then you have the 2.5 v6 which is the 2vzfe

  • so wait you took the 5 speed from you mr2 na and hooked yourr 3vzfe to it and that worked?? I have a 91 na mr2 and a 93 lexus es300 tryin to do this

  • and about 3 of those 16 or so seconds were spent shifting. Not bad.

  • I have a '91 na I'd like to swap with something with more power, trying to get some #s together. the 3sgte might be out of my $ range since I don't have the means to do any of the work myself. What would I be looking to spend on the v6, labor and all included?

  • @TheOmegaeyes Wait can You look at my Mr2 on my Videos and tell me what it is i need to do to make it faster? do you mean change the engine? or can i just put a turbo on my car..? and keep the engine well maintained?

  • California legal?

  • i just came

  • Mmmmm that sounds so good lol

  • that v6 is quick!

  • you must have the camry se shorter final drive ... or you have much smaller tire diameters

  • its the stock na mr2 5 speed

  • I figured it was. I said that but youtube killed my comment or something. Probably not the best ratios, but hey. cool vids

  • @Sketchhs And he's short shifting. (probably because the V6 can handle fewer revs I guess.)

I'm sure my redline in my rev3 na is marked a bit beyond that. Rev limiter doesn't happen until 7250.

    Was this a US NA?

  • @edshift: I need to drive my mr2 again. (it's SORNed on my drive right now) But from memory this doesn't look too much faster than a 3s-ge in good health.

I know the V6 would pull better from there but it's not an OMG moment for me.

But I may have lost perspective.

It's been a while since I drove it.

I'm still very tempted by the V6 mr2 mod tho.

It's still the best car I've ever owned.

    :-)

  • sweet! i was wondering what to do with my 91 na mr2, has an oil leak and high miles, needs a 3vzfe for sure. how much did this run you?

  • doing it myself it cost about $1000

  • dang that sounds bad ass

  • About 70lbs MORE than a 5sfe, about 20lbs MORE than a 3sgte. But well worth it!

  • I heard the V6's are 70lbs lighter than the 3sgte

  • nice sound! i'm looking into this swap too.. i have a 3sgte with a blown turbo, and still trying to decide whether to upgrade the turbo or just go for a swap.

  • Im in the same situation as you bud, Im saving for the swap, simply for reliability and longevity, and the noise. I hate that you always have the engine and turbo on the mind, much easier to just have the engine on it!

  • They were built well enough to double the horsepower. I have one in my 1993 Camry, but it's still stock. 185 hp

  • this makes my ES300 5spd look like crap

  • lol were both in the same boat [remem me?]

  • yea. the 3vz is good once you put it in a car that sheds some serious pounds over a camry v6. I know the guys on CL said the 3vz could get to about 7000rpms and i didnt believe it. i believe it now!

  • es 300 is even worse than the camry in that way

  • 3VZ-FE pulls to 7200RPM (rev limit)

  • i believe the rev limit on certain OEM computers is 7000 RPM

  • Thats pretty quick, I have the same engine in my rev2 mr2, ive head some headwork and a fidanza flywheel and the y-pipe mod on the exhaust and I dont think mine is as fast as yours, nice vid.

  • Sacramento, i'd be happy to do some more of this swap

  • @Sketchhs I'm interested except I want to do it to a mk1. I'd be willing to pay for some services I plan on doing as much as I can myself.

  • bad ass car...i have a 91 n/a autox car and would love to do this.. are you in so cal

do you have any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times

    does it handle the same?
