i saw shawn johnson she is the only reason i am where i'm at today. after i saw her preform in the 2008 olympics i wanted to do gymnastics i was in 3rd grade. but my mom wouldn't let me, but she let me take tumbling classes. Now i am in 6th grade, cheer for united allstars and hope to try out for kentucky allstars and make it as level 4. i can do a round off back handspring back tuck and an ariel. i hope by the end of next season i will have atleast a layout. IT IS ALL BECAUSE OF SHAWN JOHNSON!!

@Stonymypony She did hurt her knee, but is back fully training. And yes Ivana did decide to persue her College career, but like I said, I made this before she announced her desicion.

I would like to say I made this video 2 years ago, so I do understand that things have changed with Ivana and Mattie. My team right now would be: Weiber, Johnson, Marony, Raismen, and Ross.
For 2012 the team consists of only 5 girls. Ivana and Mattie are 100000000% no's in my opinion. Ivana fell off the face of the earth and Mattie stopped elite.
When did you makes this cause Ivana hong disappeared after 2009 and mattie did the same after 2010 plus what about McKayla Maroney or alicia sacramone? Gabby DOuglas?

If you were capable of basic reading comprehension, you could have already used context clues (do they teach you about those in 4th grade?) to realize that. Shawn Johnson will not make the team. It will be five of Liukin, Bross, Ross, Wieber, Raisman, Maroney, Douglas, and Finnegan.
@MegaGymnasticslife I think she's a great gymnast and would make a good alternate. She just doesn't fit into the holes that the U.S. team has this year. She's strong on beam; average on bars; we haven't seen her on floor but she wouldn't add more than a couple tenths at most; and we'll have 3 superior Amanars, if she even gets hers back.
Considering all the injuries. My top 5 girls that will contribute in each event and will be a strong USA team would be: Jordyn Wieber (all-round), McKayla Maroney (SUPER-Vault), Shawn Johnson (all-round), Aly Raisman (Vault-Floor), and Nastia Liukin (Beam-UnevenBars)
Nastia was renamed to the national team yesterday. She may be getting a few international cups/assignments soon. However, I don't think she'll make the Olympic team.
BTW guys, Nastia stopped, she's not coming back. She's like 22, and she hasnt been training for like 3 years. Her career is over, and she stopped at the perfect place, all around gold at the olympics.
unfortunately there's only going to be 5 members on this olympic team. so I'd say Jordyn, Aly, Alicia, Rebecca if she recovers in time (if not, then McKayla), and Shawn.
After seeing the Visa Championships...I am routing for Shawn, Jordyn, McKayla, Chellsie, Alicia, and My favorite Ali Raisman!! I don't think Rebecca will recover in time from her injury. Really sad. The other iffy one is Mackenzie Coquatto. She is good on bars.
@Abstanator Nastia actually hasn't retired, she still thinks she can make a comeback before 2012 according to what she said at the 2011 Visa Championships. now, while she still thinks she can come back, most people don't. I love her, but even I have to admit that it is nearly impossible for her to comeback now, with less than a year until the Olympics. but hey, maybe she has a plan!!! basically, she hasn't said that she is coming back, but she also hasn't decided not to either.
@gymroks1 That's what I thought... But she's been doing two-a-days for over half a year now and has been training. She got her Ono back in two days and even got a laidout Jaeger. Don't be shocked if she makes the team.

@tshirttime84 She actually did not retire. She went back for another go. But many gymnasts retire right after the Olympics simply because their bodies cannot take the physcial pain from the training. A lot of gymnasts after they retire, coach, open a gym, but some do leave the sport completely.
@missbeccajo If she hits at Visa's this year and competes clean routines i think she'll have a fair chance.. You know, it was her first competition back since Beijing :) And she is my favorite to make the team, and Marta knows many will be disappointed if she doesn't make it hahahahah
My team would be Shawn (strong for the AA), Jordyn (strong for the AA too), Alex (strong on BB and FX) Becca (strong for the AA, but she always makes something wrong under pressure, so for me on BB and UB) and then the 5th gymnast could be Lexie Priessman, or Mattie or Ivana or Bridget :)
Call me crazy but I think the team should be Bross, Wieber, Douglas, Wofford, and Sacramone. I think its the perfect combination for power, flexibility, and experience. Lots of if's though...
5. Mattie Larson- Strong on all events really. If she increases difficulty on bars and makes it super consistent, there is no way she can be turned down, USA needs strong bar workers.
@dozer2011duke NOt really, Alicia competes on vault and beam. Those are Aly;s best events. The ones she competes on in TF. I just dont think that both of them could make the team.
@dozer2011duke I would agree, that would be an amazing team. But you will need some bar workers in there. Rebecca obviously, shawn is good enough to put through as well as Jordyn, but they will need to be strong bar workers.
@idonttan Ivana is recovering from a knee injury i think and Mattie signed with UCLA so i'm not sure what her plans for elite are right now. I really hope shawn and jordyn make the team. I bet if they're healthy they will be there.
@idonttan Mattie is still training elite. She's getting ready for Nationals. and Ivana has acepted a scholorship to Stanford. So I dont know if she will be returning! Kytra is at Florida but cant compete b/c she didnt have enough high school credits and failed her ACT!
2012 summer olympics is going to be more sensational than any other olympic event I believe. The levels I've been seeing both returning olympians and olympic hopefuls has far supassed those prior to any other olympic event. I can't wait.
I think everyone but Ivana will be on the team because she is not looking so good. my personal opinion is that Alicia will be there because she is doing amazing and Nastia has not closed the door on coming back. No matter who we have on the team we kick some butt!!
I really dont think Mattie Larson is going to be on that team after what happened at worlds Martha was so displeased with her. Also Ivana isn't looking so great, shes going to need to get healthy and improve. I really hope Shawn will make it but I don't think she gets a spot we haven't seen any competition yet.
@iAngelaKara ivana is injured so i am also second guessingher but i think that mattie has talent and will be on the olympic team she is an aset to floor for usa and for shawn i KNOW she will make the team she desverves it to much to not :)

I mean Alicia messed up at the olympics (im NOT blaming alicia just stating facts) and they got team silver, yet Alicia is back on the US National and Worlds Team. Marta is forgiving. It's reeeeally early to be saying this but....
Wieber, Johnson, Liukin, Maroney, Ross/Bross. Whichever of Ross/Bross doesn't make it can be the alternate.
AA- Wieber, Johnson/Ross/Bross (not very specific).
VT- Johnson/Ross, Wieber, Maroney.
UB- Johnson (a couple more upgrades and she's better than Wieber), Bross/Ross, Liukin.

BTW guys, Nastia stopped, she's not coming back. She's like 22, and she hasnt been training for like 3 years. Her career is over, and she stopped at the perfect place, all around gold at the olympics.

After seeing the Visa Championships...I am routing for Shawn, Jordyn, McKayla, Chellsie, Alicia, and My favorite Ali Raisman!! I don't think Rebecca will recover in time from her injury. Really sad. The other iffy one is Mackenzie Coquatto. She is good on bars.

@Abstanator Nastia actually hasn't retired, she still thinks she can make a comeback before 2012 according to what she said at the 2011 Visa Championships. now, while she still thinks she can come back, most people don't. I love her, but even I have to admit that it is nearly impossible for her to comeback now, with less than a year until the Olympics. but hey, maybe she has a plan!!! basically, she hasn't said that she is coming back, but she also hasn't decided not to either.

@gymroks1 That's what I thought... But she's been doing two-a-days for over half a year now and has been training. She got her Ono back in two days and even got a laidout Jaeger. Don't be shocked if she makes the team.

@fgymnastm12 wow it sounds really weird for someone that doesnt know much about gymnastics if you say, retired. Do they retire at such a young age? She's like 21-22 years old? Does she have to work now or did she make enough money from gymnastics to live now? or what happens now?

@tshirttime84 She actually did not retire. She went back for another go. But many gymnasts retire right after the Olympics simply because their bodies cannot take the physcial pain from the training. A lot of gymnasts after they retire, coach, open a gym, but some do leave the sport completely.

My team would be Shawn (strong for the AA), Jordyn (strong for the AA too), Alex (strong on BB and FX) Becca (strong for the AA, but she always makes something wrong under pressure, so for me on BB and UB) and then the 5th gymnast could be Lexie Priessman, or Mattie or Ivana or Bridget :)

Call me crazy but I think the team should be Bross, Wieber, Douglas, Wofford, and Sacramone. I think its the perfect combination for power, flexibility, and experience. Lots of if's though...

5. Mattie Larson- Strong on all events really. If she increases difficulty on bars and makes it super consistent, there is no way she can be turned down, USA needs strong bar workers.

1. Jordyn Wieber- She needs to clean up her execution on bars and possibly get a harder routine with the double double she used to have
2. Rebecca Bross- Solid with difficult routines. Another tumbling pass on floor wouldn't hurt her.
3. Alicia Sacramone- World Gold Medalist, just get her floor down and she's a'shooin
4. Alexandra Raisman- She has difficulty, should clean up her bars, don't think she's really the best, but Marta fancies her, which is important

@dozer2011duke NOt really, Alicia competes on vault and beam. Those are Aly;s best events. The ones she competes on in TF. I just dont think that both of them could make the team.

@dozer2011duke I would agree, that would be an amazing team. But you will need some bar workers in there. Rebecca obviously, shawn is good enough to put through as well as Jordyn, but they will need to be strong bar workers.

@idonttan Ivana is recovering from a knee injury i think and Mattie signed with UCLA so i'm not sure what her plans for elite are right now. I really hope shawn and jordyn make the team. I bet if they're healthy they will be there.

@idonttan Mattie is still training elite. She's getting ready for Nationals. and Ivana has acepted a scholorship to Stanford. So I dont know if she will be returning! Kytra is at Florida but cant compete b/c she didnt have enough high school credits and failed her ACT!

2012 summer olympics is going to be more sensational than any other olympic event I believe. The levels I've been seeing both returning olympians and olympic hopefuls has far supassed those prior to any other olympic event. I can't wait.

I think everyone but Ivana will be on the team because she is not looking so good. my personal opinion is that Alicia will be there because she is doing amazing and Nastia has not closed the door on coming back. No matter who we have on the team we kick some butt!!

I really dont think Mattie Larson is going to be on that team after what happened at worlds Martha was so displeased with her. Also Ivana isn't looking so great, shes going to need to get healthy and improve. I really hope Shawn will make it but I don't think she gets a spot we haven't seen any competition yet.

@javajunkie6 i disagree with that. Mattie made a few mistakes but that wont mean the end of her career. I mean Alicia messed up at the olympics (im NOT blaming alicia just stating facts) and they got team silver, yet Alicia is back on the US National and Worlds Team. Marta is forgiving. Also mattie is a very strong vaulter and is amazing on beam

i think rebeccas bross, aly raisman, jordyn weiber, kyla ross, and (shawn-for beam, floor, and vault score, nastia-for beam and bars score, or alicia sacramone, for vault, floor, and maybe beam score) nastia wins in that catagory simply because of bars and the team needs that score. people keep saying Russia will win, but i think that they're newfound mission to do the most difficulty instead of pacing themselves will drain them
