  • our cat is impossible when it comes to taking pills. he just had a procedure to drain fluid from his lungs, he's also got a heart murmur. :( so he requires pills for the rest of his life, not great news for either of us! but thanks so much for this video, it really worked!

  • @Amycakes1

I know every cat has a different temperament, and my cat is very trusting and calm and will allow me to do anything... but i have used this method on other cats and it worked just fine, thanks for watching i hope your cat has a good long life even with his problems

    :-)

  • our cat was so cute, we easily could give the pill to her. she didn't even want to claw or anything. she's quite relaxed :D

  • @LoliNana

Your cat sounded just like mine then!

  • @twish1999 the truth is that she's heating now, so maybe that was the reason of her staidness :D

  • @LoliNana

Well the same can't be said of Olly as he's a boy!

  • your cat is really docile. Is it declawed too?Try that again with a large, aggresive, clawed cat and see how well it goes. Then try it with 3 pills twice a day

    ...

not to say that you haven't got it down with your cat

  • @radguitar1

No i haven't had Olly declawed, i don't believe in that..... i imagine with an aggressive cat my method would not work no, you're right

  • I just tried this and my cat took a chunk out of my finger.

  • I like your channel, I subbed, and this video was particularly helpful! Thank you!

  • @billysscreeningroom2

    Thank you Rick

    :-)

  • You have great technique! :) I wish I could've seen your video back when I had to give my cat pills. I resorted to mushing a soft cat treat around the pill - it worked as he swallowed the treat whole, but it sure was gross to handle, lol.

    Olly has the sweetest face!

  • I think it's important that both the cat and yourself are relaxed while you do it

    :-)

  • It's easy when you know how...but i think it still depends on your cats personality...Olly is particularly easy as he's so trusting of me he'll let me do anything

  • That is a great vid.. works for dogs too... just if they are big dogs you can't hold their while face like that with one hand .. lol but it does work!

  • It's just as well Olly takes his pills so well as he has to have one every other day

    :-)

  • Well, sure, and it's mellow Ollie you're giving the pill to. And, hehe, you can tell me, did you find the pill under the sheets later? :) :Þ

  • No, he has to have a tablet every day and it's important he gets it.... i think he's used to them now

  • Thank you, Twish!

    Well, thank you again.

    Wow!

  • That certainly looked easy! I've actually had better luck giving pills than I have medicine in an eyedropper thingy. I've had some epic battles with that!!! No matter what method I use it seems what sort of mood a cat is in makes a big difference!

  • Yes it's good to pill them once they've eaten and are sleepy and contented

    :-)

  • Wow that is just amazing! Now I will try this next time its time to give my cat pills.

  • Yes do try it this way Avoir

    :-)

  • definitely letting you take over wild animals from now on lol love you twish!

  • LOL!

    Thanks Caroline!

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • Wow. You rock!

  • Heehee!

    Thanks Liz!

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • That looked so easy Twish!

I'd like to see my friend do this with her cat Felix lol!

Although, on second thoughts, maybe not - he'd more likely end up atatched to the ceiling haha!

  • ROFL!

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • My personal Troll (Kratzenburg) took great pleasure in informing me this morning, that he has created 200 channels just for the pleasure of downrating my videos, or whatever else he has in mind.. :) That will keep him busy for sure... :) :)

I wish all pets behaved as good as yours... Great tutorial! Ne xt time you'll have to show us how to deal with a cat that's hanging upside down from the ceiling!! :) :) :)

  • What a shame Kratzenburg has nothing better to do in his life.... poor thing, i do feel sorry for him

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • You and me both.. he's made a special point of going for me now as he knows I'm 'otherwise' occupied! But that only says something about him really, and how his mind works.. Never mind, it will be interesting to see what will happen..

  • What a good little kitty! Blessings, Ang

  • I didn't know about the "blow in the nose" thing. That'll be helpful in the future.

Last time one of my sister's cats needed to take medicine, it came in a dropper, so it wasn't as difficult as giving a pill can be.

  • It is a quiet cat, mine needed a leather glove to give it a pill.

  • It's only an hour into the new day over here and I already learned something... I will probably never use this knowledge, but that's beside the point :)

  • Wow Trish....made it look easy!

I have tried to give my baby (Smokee Joe) a vitamine several times and he wont eat it in his food. I might try again after watching your video!

    mike

  • You make it look so easy! Mine are too squirmy when you hold their head and by the time I would manage to get the mouth open, I can't get the pill down far enough and then off they run! LOL

  • aww good kitty! Not like my Angel! Why did your kitty need to take a pill?

  • I can only do that with my boy cat (who I've had since his birth), my girl cat I got from a shelter when she was approx 1 year old and there is no way in hell you could do that with her, it takes two of us to clip her claws. I think temperament makes a huge difference here.

  • Ohhh, what a sweet boy he is! xo

  • Well, if that isn't the darndest thing I have ever seen! :+) You are like the Cat Whisperer! lol

  • Yeah Twish....we could NEVER do that with Chloe :-) She would've drawn blood by the time we caught her to hold her head. She doesn't play nice like your kitty :-)

  • I've NEVER been able to get away with that, with any cat I've had. With Cosmic, about the time you have a good hold on his head, you'll have ten claws digging for arteries in your hands. And finding them...

The only way I can pull it off is to break it into a few parts and strategically bury them in a clump of tuna, knowing that he'll whuff it down before he notices something was "odd" about it. I've gotten a few dirty looks.....

  • Very useful info, thanks twish.

    Happy new year.

  • I was always able to open up a cat's mouth to give it a pill, but was not able to get it to swallow it. Blowing on the nose, huh? I will have to try that if I ever have to give Sammy a pill. Thanks for the information Trish! :)

  • Trish that always worked so easily for me with my first cat that I had for 13 years but the 2 that we have now is like flying cats when it comes to taking pills. It takes bot me and Allen to get the job done..

  • You are such a sweet mommy! Thanks for this video I'm glade you shared this with us.

    Hugs xx :D

  • The very same method my Mom uses to make my Dad eat her cookin', lol!

    Great idea, Twish...Thank you!

    ~Tammi~

  • I just used to tell the ones i had that all the other cats were taking them.

  • Awe..You are such a sweet mommy!

    Hugz you two!

  • Just part of your daily rounds at the cat rehab center. I like the kitty videos the best.

  • He also clearly trusts you which has to help a great deal.

  • Oh yes, he'll let me do anything to him....

    it's called love

    :-)

  • if I did that with my baby girl I would be minus a finger really quick :)

  • LOL!

    :-)

  • That looked way to easy, I hope if I ever have to give Alaska med's this works for me =)

  • I'd be happy to come over and give her her pills

    :-)

    hell yeah!

  • Yes, but we do whatever we have to do to keep our pets healthy.... shots or tablets

    :-)

  • Thank you!

    :-)

  • I've tried this so many times and my cats won't sit still like that. They'll fight and scratch. I actually went to the vet and they gave me a pill popper stick and so Ill hold the cat and my roommate will get their mouth open and stick the pill back there and without having to put your fingers in his mouth. It's done before he reacts.

  • I've never heard of a Pill Popper before tonight, they sound ideal

    :-)

  • I love knowing how to do random things like this(: Thank you, and happy new year!

  • Happy New Year Ann-Marie

    :-)

  • thank you!me and my friend tryed EVRYTHINGG to give it a pill....ty alot :DD

    he will sub you :D

  • Thank You!

    :-)

  • I knew everything except the blowing into his nose! Brilliant! Hey, is kitty okay? Nothing serious, I hope!

  • He was having trouble passing urine and he went in to the vets for tests and it seems he makes stones which block his urethra, so he's been on these tablets for 6 weeks now and also on a special dry diet (he'll be on this forever) that you buy from the vets specially for cats with this problem. He's so much better now.... i am so happy

    :-)

  • POOR BABY!!!! (I have heard that about male cats as well.

  • He is a male!

  • I'm happy he's better, too. :)

  • OMIGOD! OMIGOD!!!

    THAT LOOKED SO EASY!!!!

I WILL TRY IT THAT WAY FROM NOW ON!!! I NEVER THOUGHT OF TRYING IT FROM THAT END!!!!

    giggle)

  • ROFL!

    You nutty fruitloop!

    :-)

  • I heard you can stick it in cheese but isn't cheese bad for cats?

  • Yes it is... cats shouldn't have cheese or milk

    :-)

  • to be serious... ONLY FOR A MOMENT!!!... I have heard that too about dairy and cats.

  • It's like poison to them.... yet in cartoons etc you always see kitty with his bowl of milk

  • LOL!

    They blow up your nose?

    hahahaha

    :-)

  • are you talking about explosives here? LOL

  • It's possible!

    BOOM!

  • That's the thing with cats... they make their own minds up about stuff! LOL!

    :-)

  • Greenies came out with Pill Pockets a few years ago. Just put the pill inside the treat and my cats beg for their meds!

An absolute lifesaver because all of my cats suddenly become octupuses (octopi?) with swords. LOL!

  • Octopi with swords! LOL!

I've never heard of Pill Pockets....

  • They must not be available in the UK. Darn!

  • LOL I use those methods too but let me tell ya most of my kitties have to have their body held too because they know whats coming and they will hurl their bodies right out of the head hold alone. So we do hubs and wife team if possible. I always getting the hard part lol.

  • I suppose it depends on the cat...Olly will let me do anything to him...

  • what the heck...where was this at this morning when I needed it lmao I had to take my cat to vet for a UTI earlier this morning and they gave her pills and I looked rediculious struggling with her on the bed trying to make her eat this damn pill lol I tried to put it in a treat , her wet food, even some tuna but the lil sh*t ate around it! Cat 1 Runae 0 lol can u just come to my house once a day for the next 10 days to give her this pill like how u just did ur cat? haha :)

    5*****

    Runae

  • I would do that if you just send me the plane ticket! LOL!

My cat Olly (this one in the video) has a problem with cystitis too which is why he is on the tablets...but with your cat having a UTI i would advise her having a dry diet only...you can buy special dry food from your vets specially for cats with Urinary problems... Olly gets that and is allowed no other food (forever) and it's working...he's so much better now

    :-)

  • Oh wow thank u for telling me that about the dry food I really appreciate that! I will look into that special dry food formula for her right away! Happy New Years to ya!!!

    xoxo

  • Olly must have a very sweet nature.Such a good boy to take his medicine like a gentleman. When I try that method, Nefer turns into Jaguar Kitty, all teeth and claws, and tries to eat my face. My vet suggested a pill popper. It's a long plastic tube open on one end with a soft rubber tip. You place the pill in the tip, insert towards the back of kitty's throat, push the plunger and bang zoom, it's over. It works wonderfully. Very fast and very fast is the key with Nefer, queen of jaguars. LOL.

  • Oh he'll let me do anything...he's so trusting....

He's my little funny clown cat and i love him SO MUCH!

    :-)

  • Hey we use pill pusher and two adults lol and the same type method as Twish. Are kitties go wild too thrashing their bodies etc. So I have to do a body head hold and open mouth with other hand and hubs uses the pill popper to insert lol. I can do it alone if necessary but it ain't pretty.

  • I've never seen a pill pusher.....

  • Cool Trish! Thanks so much! Hugs!

  • I know you're giving Jasper tablets right now aren't you melissa

  • Very easy! Thankfully I have never had to give Nohea a pill. Liquid stuff is a little more tricky. And messy if it is pink! :)

  • Uhh... for my cat if she has to take liquid glucose (my cat is diabetic) you just grab her throat and tilt her head.

  • That doesn't sound too bad then

    :-)

  • But if you tilt it too much they can aspirate and I'm very paranoid where my little girl is concerned and was super afraid and she fought me, etc., etc. So it was NOT fun to do and she had pink amoxicillin on her fur for a week :(

  • Oh dear... you'd think they'd dream up some sort of food for them that is impregnated with the drug they need...something that they'd eat happily

  • Yes i imagine so..... poor Olly has been on tablets for around 6 weeks now for his cystitis and is now on a dry food diet (and will be for the rest of his life)...special cat biscuits for cats with urinary problems and it's working...he's so much better now

    :-)

  • I am so happy to hear that he is doing better. Poor little guy never having wet food again. Nohea would go nuts!

  • good tip cool video.

  • Thanks Joe

    :-)

You got snow where you are?

  • i had to do that once and i felt really bad. i saw a tear in his eye. no lie. but i dont think it was a cry tear. is that bein mean to the cat?

  • No it's not being mean if the cat needs medicine

    :-)

  • Oh gracious it's not being mean. If a child needs medicine you for it's well being but administor it too. Great video twish.

  • Thanks Kim!

    :-)

  • I used the same method for my Weimaraner so I guess it works for dogs too. Putting in her food didn't work, she ate around it; I bet most kitties would manage to smell it and not eat it either. The blowing part is key :)

  • Yes massage his throat and blow gently up his nose... does the trick

    :-)

  • at first I thought it was like a drawing tablet and I was like "What would a cat do with something like that, it can't even hold a pencil."

  • So do you call them pills? We tend to call them tablets

English is so funny at times

    :-)

  • I've heard it called both, but the reason I thought thats what it meant at first was I was talking to someone about tablets for the pc lol.

  • You're a PC addict!

    LOL!

    :-)

  • Yes, Yes I am lol

    =o.o=

  • LOLOL...my cat looks nothing like that when I try it. Methinks I'd have to be druggin him just to drug him!! So my method...smash the pill up, suck it up in a straw and blow it down!!! Yeah, he hates it but I come out with less injury!!!

  • I've never heard of that method before!

    :-)

  • Put it in his/her food

    Works Evry Time

  • Wouldn't work for olly as he's only allowed to eat dry food

    :-)

  • Shucks I thought you used a potatoe gun?!?!?!?!

    VEG

  • LOL!

    That's plan B

  • For the TIMID at heart...

  • None of my subscribers are timid surely?
