Please do not trash Christmas be it in the USA, or anywhere. Ive spent Christmas in Iraq in the middle of the desert. And the spirit of Christmas did not depart all becoz we were in the middle of nowhere. Visualize this: Chicago suburbs, its 12 midnight on a dark winter's night, Christmas lights are dancing in the wind, its -15 degress centigrade but you're warm in your thick jacket. The aroma of fine food is wafting in the air, the church bells are ringing, & everything is white w/ snow. Lots of free food awaits at the social hall after the mass and you and your wife are walking hand in hand to church. There are no bibingka vendors outside but the spirit of Christmas is unchanged as everywhere.

I don't think xmas in the US sucks. We just celebrate xmas in the Philippines in quite different ways. I've been in California for three years and I always feel the true spirit of xmas lalo na if you have true friends around you :-) But I think thanksgiving is much recognize here than XMAS.
