  • Speaking of history Byzantium is the former name of the city before Constantine set up his Nova Roma and was undoubtedly known to Procopius.

  • Prokopios in his book called "Περι κτισματων" describes the temple ' της του Θεου Σοφιας' in Constantinople a great combination or roman architecture and greek orthodox art!

  • Great job.

btw, how did you do the signature writing at the end? What software did you use?

  • it would have been amazing to see it in all its splendor before the Muslims desecrated it and covered all the beautiful pieces of mosaic art

  • If this was from Procopius in 560 CE I highly doubt he would have used the name Byzantium when referring to the Roma Nova, 'Konstantinoupoleos' Constantinople.

  • Very nice

  • this guys accent sounds about as authentically ancient as a futuristic robot from the year 22,000 a.d., i cnt stand it americans doing documentary things they never ever sound authoritative and its always dumbed down, please get an old bearded guy with some sort of european accent and your little clip will sound far more authentic

  • Excellent presentation of a beautiful ancient site

  • Well done Tim. I thought this was Nat Geo. Highly professional, great effects.

  • awsome!! i'm readying procopius for my univercity and all i read i now can see it!!

  • The Temple of Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia) is dedicated to Jesus Christ who is the Wsdom of God, "But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." (1 Corinthians 1:24)

  • errrrm yes and.....?

  • truly magnificent video. Thank you for posting. A note for people posting comments: please don't pollute the post with improper language. We all know who build this jewel, who it is devoted to and who desecrated it.

  • excellent !!!

  • this building displays the history of two faiths. I think this is a beautiful place that calls people together for unity in religion. we should all treat it equally without fighting.

  • the building displays the history of one faith that was Conquerded and a Building that was dedicated to Jesus Desecrated,Istanpolis and Jesus wait patiently.

  • well yes that is a lovely sentiment but it requires a complete ignorance of the numerous massacres that took place in and around it through the years...and teh eventual fall of constantinople, very very disturbing episode

  • nice video,Jesus awaits patintly, lets not forget he is a forgiving God,he awaits them to repent, this time will come . Procopius has done an incredible job in the designand building of the Cathedral, Lets not forget the Cathedral was Consecrated by THe early Fathers of The Church to the Holy Spirit,so any claims a muslim makes against this Marvelous Cathedral is null and Void, Jesus is Lord in Aghia Sophia, all other activities are just dust in the wind.

  • Great Video. Long Live Aghia Sophia ! Long Live Constantinople ! Long Live the memory of those who died for Orthodoxy ! Lord Jesus hear our prayers !

  • Beautifully done; Did you create the 3d model? I am having a very tough and humbling time creating my own Hagia Sophia model for my own film. If you built this yourself, what source did you use for the mosaics/stained glass/altarscreen textures?

    regards

    Erik

  • and now the beautiful Hagia Sophia is nothing but a mosque for islam.. disgraced and erased .. one day.. it will b claimed by the panagia

  • outsatnding

  • A Illyrian from the Dardani tribe, nowdays kosovo, he build this magnificient structure.

  • A good video.

Mu only criticism is that when the present Haghia Sophia was built in the reign of Justinian, the liturgy was sung in Latin.

  • The liturgy of St. John Chrysostom was not sung in Latin. Greek was always the liturgical language in Constantinople. Latin was only imposed during the period after the sacking of Constantinople by Western crusaders in 1204.

  • That was really something...incredible! Seriously, well done! Only wish the Hagia Sophia was ours again...too bad.

  • Magnificent work! You should be given a grant or something for this.

  • TIM DOIN BIG THANGS
