If this was from Procopius in 560 CE I highly doubt he would have used the name Byzantium when referring to the Roma Nova, 'Konstantinoupoleos' Constantinople.

this building displays the history of two faiths. I think this is a beautiful place that calls people together for unity in religion. we should all treat it equally without fighting.

well yes that is a lovely sentiment but it requires a complete ignorance of the numerous massacres that took place in and around it through the years...and teh eventual fall of constantinople, very very disturbing episode

Procopius has done an incredible job in the designand building of the Cathedral, Lets not forget the Cathedral was Consecrated by THe early Fathers of The Church to the Holy Spirit,so any claims a muslim makes against this Marvelous Cathedral is null and Void, Jesus is Lord in Aghia Sophia,all other activities are just dust in the wind.

The liturgy of St. John Chrysostom was not sung in Latin. Greek was always the liturgical language in Constantinople. Latin was only imposed during the period after the sacking of Constantinople by Western crusaders in 1204.
Speaking of history Byzantium is the former name of the city before Constantine set up his Nova Roma and was undoubtedly known to Procopius.

Mu only criticism is that when the present Haghia Sophia was built in the reign of Justinian, the liturgy was sung in Latin.
