  • @Gregoryayo Its from 2006 long before YouTube supported HD resolutions hope this helps.

  • SMOD

  • Is that a mod or just tuned HDR setting in console?

  • @eXtErMiNaToR1494 halo is shit... And By the Way: Why are you watching this video when halo is better? Go watch your halo video's :P

  • lol at 0:30

  • Beautiful.

  • Can you give me those maps :D...???

  • can you give those maps...??

  • Trashcan cop got OWNED.

  • how to do you compile the HDR settings into Half Life 2?

If you know, then do you know how to do it on a mac without messing up the game?

  • its only bloom not hdr because only the light is affected and not anything around the light

  • @markolo25 you know that makes sense because all you need to do is add colour correction thingy majig and tweak it and that should do it (I think)

  • HDR looks alot better in Doom 3

  • Nice. How have you got the HDR to increase/decrease on it's own?

  • Hey ProZak60, I don't know how long its been since you read these posts, but do you have a more descriptive way on how to recompile the maps to have HDR.

  • download enb series :)

  • ahhhh Half life 2 look Server i think

  • how can you shoot your team cool i want to know how cause i just have created some bullet time if I try this killing citizen in slow mo it will be funny

Oh yeah sorry for me bad English cause im an filipino.

  • Or, he could have played this in HL2 Deathmatch.

  • Also, this is Gmod with a console command imput to not show kills - Gmod runs the Ep2 engine, and he is playing HL2 maps in it - how is he killing the citizens otherwise?

  • mmkay, so how does it have a different title, no physgun, and a thing that said Counter-Strike Source at the beggining?

    I rest my case

  • It's called Modding. Genius. HL2 does not have servers, you can easily change the background, and you can simply edit the physgun lua to not spawn. How else could he have killed the citizens? Mhmm.

  • The layout of the VGUI isn't like Garrys Mod. And also, the model's holster animations don't go at the speed of fucking light like in GMOD.

  • It's called Modding. Genius. HL2 does not have servers. How else could he have killed the citizens? Mhmm. Also, ever heard of video editing?

  • Maybe he used a console command to give him guns. impulse101

  • ...You can't kill friendlies in Half-Life 2, genius.

  • There is a modification you can install into Hl2 to enable friendly fire. But he obviously didn't do that.

  • This is from way before the Orange Box was released, and before Garry's mod supported HDR. This is build of a mod I worked on called MyKillboxMod. That's why I can kill the citizens.

  • Now that sir, is a good explanation, but, can you prove it was not in Hl2 dm?

  • No, I can't. But there's no point in playing it in Half-Life 2 DM it'll add the possibility to add HDR to the maps, but it won't add it. The maps have to be compiled with HDR settings in them.

  • ~The maps have to be compiled with HDR settings in them.

Only if you don't have cubemaps. I've been mapping for 4 years; it will add hdr.

  • Sorry to burst your buble bro, but that's wrong.

You should copy the HL2 maps in the EP2 and see for yourself. 100$ there's no HDR. I know my stuff bro.

  • @ProZak60

You decompile them, then compile them with HDR on. (Compile for ep2)

  • @pdan4 I've tried this. Decompiling is imperfect, and you must spend more time than you might think fixing the maps if you don't want your lights messed up, also, little things like the buggy not having a gun in the Highway 17 chapter or the corpse on the electrical fence in We Don't Go to Ravenholm not sparking make the effort not worth playing through the game with HDR.

  • @ProZak60 or the orange box for $20-30 lol

  • @pdan4 It added in the latest update :D

  • Hey, dummies (except you, ProZak) HL2 does not have HDR. It does not. Episode 2 engine games (Ep2, Portal, L4D, L4D2, and Portal) have HDR. Episode 1 engines (Ep1 and HL2) do not.

  • Actually episode 1 does have HDR. hl2 doesn't.

  • No it doesn't. Episode 1 does not.

  • Go play it and see the difference between HDR enabled and HDR disabled then. Half Life 2 Episode 1 has hdr in it. That was what they showcased with lost coast, that was the whole point of it. They said they were releasing HDR in ep1 and they did. Go see for yourself.

  • Why is it that I have maximum settings and I can't get HDR that good in any HL2 maps, even lost coast. I have a Geforce 9400 with a Dual Core 2.50 processor

  • Comment removed

  • What does that have to do with anything?

  • Sorry I meant to post it under the Hydra video.

  • watch?v=KbEmWKZPJ_U

  • so basically you play it in gmod with post processing on? i dont know how you could kill citizens otherwise :s

  • Custom binaries dogg! I'm using my own build of the source code.

  • alright! good to know because im no gmod fanboy >.>

anyway... i edited (with some codes from hl2 beta) the skills text file so now i can rape citizens in a mighty nuke from hell :D

  • Lol, the developer's console is going nuts.

  • FYI: They updated several HL2 maps to have HDR.

  • FYI: No they haven't.

  • Get your facts straight. They did after the release of EP1. Waterhazard is the most notable one. They didn't do all of them, but they did recompile some.

  • I'd appreciate if you go check. The console version of HL2 got HDR but the PC version sure as hell doesn't.

  • I checked. IT DOES.

It didn't in the past. They updated it after HL2:LC was publicly released.

There's an option in the advanced visuals section to turn HDR on if available. The Steam Store entry says HDR available. The first background you see when loading up the game in C17 has HDR for crying out loud.

  • I'd like to see a video of said HDR. Get the filesize of the map you claim got HDR in Half-Life 2.

  • Hi there I am here to say that Half Life 2 HAS HDR. At least the Orange box version of the PS3 has. And dont come saying that its bullshit cuz I have played HL2 for PC several times, and when I relplayed it on the console I could see the difference. Though the HL2 for PC im not sure, EP1, and EP2 sure have HDR, though the HL2 idk. Maybe in the Orange Box. In Gamespot they say that "Valve has thown in some more things into the two other chapters such as some graphical improvements.

    Erik

  • The console versions of Half-Life 2 got HDR, because it was released later than the original Half-Life 2 for the PC. The Source Engine didn't have HDR support in 2004.

  • step 1: open up half life 2

step 2: go to advanced visuals section and turn hdr on

step 3: open up any level

step 4: because hdr WONT be running, open the console and type mat_hdr_enabled 1

step 5: observe the now broken cubemaps, lack of bloom and hdr in general

step 6: realise you're an idiot

  • God you're dumb. The engine supports HDR, that's true. But the maps aren't updated with HDR lightmaps and light settings. Please think before posting comments.

  • So you're saying I'm correct that HL2 in fact has HDR. Whereas you were bullshitting that you have custom binaries to add HDR while it already has HDR.

Some maps ARE UPDATED. Play Waterhazard and shut your traphole.

  • @pictizm

    I did, no HDR.

    Oct, 10. 2007 Update...

  • I had a video with proof the engine version supplied with an updated copy of HL2 now supports HDR. Not sure what post you quoted, I'm lazy to check. This video was probably made before that engine update came in.

  • Wrong. Not all maps have HDR. Broken cubemaps appear because you're forcing HDR on a map that doesn't have cubemaps compiled for the HDR version, thus it cannot find the appropriate cubemap textures.

A legitimate HL2 copy updated by Steam has HDR compatibility and some of the original maps were recompiled to have HDR. The first damn map that appears in the main menu when you don't have any saves yet has fucking HDR.

  • As I said earlier. Post a video. My copy of Half-Life 2 doesn't have HDR in Waterhazard.

  • Get GCFscape and pluck a bsp file from ep1 (or any source engine game which supports hdr) and run it in half life 2.

Lo and behold you will find, just as I did that that hdr will not be running.

The 2004 engine has never supported nor been updated to support hdr or any of the goodies that came with the release of games running on the ep1 engine.

Arguing with you is like arguing with a creationist sigh....

    you so stoopid

  • ive played HL2 series with both consoles plus with PC and i havent seen any differences in graphics. HDR in console versions is bullshit.

  • if you have a pc less than 4 years old you can run this game far beyond anything the current consoles can, plus the console version has terrible blur compared to the PC version

  • Finished the Original, EP 1, and just finished the first chapter for EP2.

NOW I know why people were raving about HL2. The storyline and gameplay is cleary and simply (imo) some of the best the FPS Genre has/had to offer ever.

VERY impressive flow, character interaction, and multiple references to other games.

Solo play/teamwork/becoming attached to NPCs/etc, little bit of Horror here and there, Run and Gun, Frantic Chases: HL2 has it all imo.

9/10 'only' because of the couple bugs.

  • The HL2 series totally deserve more than 10/10!!!!!!!!

  • Not with the weird duck behavior, faked lighting/i.e. static lighting (hurts it bigtime in the original and EP1, it's pathetic compared to how amazing the textures and water shaders look), and (imo) weak cinematic endings.

Other than that... easily a 9/10.

IDTech 4 stomps it graphically imo minus the water shaders, physics, and mouth speaking technology.

Plus, Doom 3 is still clearly the Horror Champion of all FPSs.

It's a "Masterpiece of the Art Form" for good reason.

  • First of all, you're silly for counting graphics in the game quality.

Second, Doom 3 isn't scary at all.

  • @Panzombren

    Oh the good old opinions...

    Take them somewhere else.

  • Oh yeah... and I've still yet to see any "realtime lighting" in EP2 (mind you, I've only played through the first Chapter so far)... I see the completely kickass realtime shadows from the flashlight, and that rocks... but where is the "realtime lighting"????

IDTech 4s' realtime lighting is still one of the best imo.

When ID drops IDTech 5, Valve had better come with it, fancy water and mouth speaking tech will 'not' save them in the future imo.

  • @Panzombren

    Another graphics whore,

play the damn game and shutup.

  • it's meta score is 96 out of 100 but it deserves 150 :D

  • @Panzombren Source engine ragdoll screwups are half the fun of online gaming though :)

  • No realtime lighting though.... what's the point?

Only recently started up HL2 (never played it), and have been amazed by the storyline and gameplay, but BEYOND disappointed that Realtime Lighting didn't get added to the engine until later.

I'll NEVER understand how ANYONe in their right mind could have compared what IDTech 4 was capable of to what Source was capable of, mid '04 when they both came out.

    W/out RealtimeLighting: It feels like a modded HL1 w/badass water.seriously

  • and badass physics too.

  • Interesting you mention that.... yes, I concur!!! The physics are amazing, BUT.... one thing that has really annoyed/surprised me is the inability to smoothly perform jump+duck maneavers.... I constantly found myself jumping to something (while trying to land ducked), and 75% of the time, I can't land ducked.

It's whack because in HL1, that is very easy to accomplish and very smooth.

AnYone else encounter this strange behaviour? Installed middle of '08, so ?? to which version I'm on.....

  • Wait so the games in the Orange Box didn't have HDR?

  • Not the old ones, no. I believe only the console version had HDR (and probably some other graphical tweaks) in them, VALVE is currently plannign to release all that (and probably more) for PC,but they're citing "space issues" and other random stuff for no doing it earlier...

  • no...

  • Why has Valve not updated Half Life 2 to use HDR or any other the other new source engine features (like motion blur)? The X Box version has all of them but they have not updated the computer version.

  • I'm guessing its because they have to redistribute everything, and thus using a lot of bandwidth. Gabe Newell said they'll eventually update it.

  • I reformatted my computer last week and reinstalled Half Life 2. However because I couldn't find the CD i just installed steam and downloaded the entire game from their server. I know a lot of people who do this, so I bet its not a bandwidth issue.

It's a good think that he said that. I will bet that Valve will release another "Orange Box" type package for Episode 3 and will package Half Life 2 HDR with it. It would be a good business move.

  • hell yea ;). I would totally buy it!

  • maybe they'll use it for episode 3

  • They already used it for the all versions of Episode 2 and the Xbox 360 version of Half Life 2 and Episode 1.

They have all the HDR data for the Xbox versions they just haven't ported it back to PC.

So I am 100% sure they will reuse it in Episode 3.

  • How did you get the HDR?

  • Recompiled the map with the Episode One tools.

  • what mod is this?

  • It isn't any mod, I just made this (for no particular thing).

  • PoisonZombie likes dick.

  • ok then, at least you can ask

  • I don't think he's a very good lay.

  • in which of your assholes can i stick my penis in?

  • You don't make any sense here.

  • Can I be gang raped too?

  • Stfu.

  • Zero you're pathetic, remember that you're actually PROMOTING his videos by commenting all the time.

  • You're not a part of this.

  • @bastianagent007

    Your point?

I coem to random videos and support those who get wrongfully accused, or while may be rightfully, still look up for them, not the usual asshole stereotype which seems to be common in youtube.

  • This video is pointless.

  • Alright, thanks for playing dawg.

  • Fuck you.

  • That would be nice.

  • You would like that, you faggot. But what else should I expect from someone who gets gang-raped every hour, everyday of the week.

  • Unfortunately I don't get gang-raped that often. I have a job, and a social life. If you could think of a solution, so I could be gang-raped every hour, everyday of the week that'd be rad though!

  • Gang-rape is your job, gang-rape is your social life, the cocks and dildos probably went so far into your brain that you forgot, or you're just simply retarded, probably both.

  • Oh silly me, that's of course it! I'm glad I'm getting paid with gang-rape too! Getting paid with something you like, for doing something you like! Does it get more awesome?

  • You're obviously forgetting it's your choice of career path, just reminding you.

  • Shit! All these dicks in my brain makes me forget stuff, sorry bro!

  • It was your idea to shove one up your nose anyway.

  • ๏̯͡๏

  • This is often a resounding yes, with a larger address pipeline you can assign more data faster and more efficiently. The size of VRAM should not be a deciding factor on yoru purchase of a new card but rather the GPU clock, the memory clock, shaders and overall interface bandwidth (a larger concern in situations where high end gaming is desired)

  • Actually PCI cards are still being produced as solutions for computers with poor onboard video for mild gaming solutions. A strong example is the still produced Nvidea 6200 and the 6200 OC and there are still ATI flavors made by diamondville. Lets be realistic here PCI still offers impressive bandwidth (even for being as old as it is), no you won't be playing Crysis or using HDR but there is always room to grow on any platform.

  • Awesome vid but is there anyone who thinks that its to f@*&%n FAST?!

  • Ohhh, sorry, there was some bug that this vid was 20x faster :)

  • looks cool like lost coast

  • The uncompiled map comes with Half-Life 2. Just change a few settings and compile with HDR.

  • True story!

  • So, it's ain't hard? If it so, why Valve stoped... Hmmm

  • this could be Dx10, Fakefactory CM8 or he twicked something

i can get same lights in G-mod so i think hes busted

  • Wrong.

    Added: August 05, 2006.

Vista and DirectX 10 was released after I made this. Gmod wasn't updated to use HDR effects and the like until late after I made this.

  • HDR owns!the lights are awesome!

  • Same as the 360 version.

  • nothing HDR is just some type of realistic lighting

    High Dynamic Range

    Rendering

    visit wikipedia for more detail

what u need is a good graphics card

  • Yeah, I Was wrong. Sorry.

  • Esuld, not at all HDR= High Dynamic Range

  • Anyone knows how turn on that HDR? :/

I want the HDR too :(!

  • nice hdr.... wtf

  • rofl Errors montage in the console :)

  • So is the light coming in through the windows HDR?

  • Yes, it is :)

  • i want the hdr too <.<

  • where can i get HDR?

  • Walmart?

    Sorry it's a joke.

  • h.t.t.p://halflife2.filefront.c.o.m/file/HalfLife_2_R8_HDR_Bloom_MiniMod;38224<---GET-IT-HERE but remove the extra .'s

  • Except its not. Bloom doesn't have dynamic tone mapping, which is quite obvious here.

Its a custom mod, and a recompiled edition of the original map.

  • its called the "HDR Bloom Mod" for HL2

  • bloom is not full HDR

  • oh i almost forgot... where or how you got HDR?

  • what is that mod? (mykillbotmod beta???)

  • Easy. You get the vmf for this map. So you just add HDR.

  • nice man. pretty cool what you've done.

  • If you don't see a difference, you clearly need glasses, or don't know what HDR is.

  • you probably made a mod with the Half Life 2 episode 1 engine and ported all the half life 2 content into it (seeing as episode 1 supports HDR).

    amirite?

  • Nope.

  • then what did you do?

  • DL?

  • None.

  • Then make one! :D

    Hl2 fans will love u

  • which version of half life 2 is this ?

    somebody knows ?

  • i lol'd at the last Metrocop scene xD nice HDR'ing btw =)

  • i have hl2, in the video option i turn on the full HDR (if available" but i dont see any changes :S i want to see that HDR plz tell me :(

  • It's not that simple, since the Half-Life 2 DLLS doesn't support HDR

  • can you tell me how i get hdr in half life 2 (cosole command, cheat...etc)

  • i got the same problem

  • Where i can download this Mod? :)

  • No where, yet. I don't know if I'm releasing this or not :S

  • how do u get hdr in hl2?

  • Oh c'mon... ;) Share with us. =)

  • Hey ProZak, have you got a website or some kind of development place for this mod? I'd really like to know how you got hdr into hl2 in the first place. It's not even been implemented by Valve yet so i'm kinda puzzled as to how you did it. Unless of course it was done in episode 1..

  • wheres the god dam sound?!

  • I removed it, since I was listening to music while recording :)

  • Like I came here to see it load

  • Like I came here to read your stupid comment.
