i like them, i love them, their pretty but you must to groom a lot and i don't like that every day... D: if they have long hair.. and i want one with long hair, cuz i don't like the short hair ;$
@babyblue6453 we shave her hair off now and then (most oftenly around summer time) and let it grow back out. otherwise you have to brush the hair every once in a while
Oliver, our OES, is so cute, sweet, funny and smart. He is also calm around the strangers who want to pet him. People stop their cars and get out to pet him, or holler through the window, That is a magnificent dog! He will play with any size dog and is never agressive. He loves to sit on our laps, and he looks up at us when we walk him. Very responsive. We LOVE him!
@STangoFox You "took care of" this dog?...sounds like neglect if you, the human with a supposed brain, weren't cleaning up after the dog you watched. If you picked up the sh*t, & groomed the dog, there would be nothing to "walk in." Any breed of dog if left in a filthy area will have no choice but to walk in it if your home & yard is filthy. Mine doesn't slobber. When the fur is shorter, they will not salivate as much. Biggest mistake OES owners do is keeping 12 in. of fur - they overheat!
I have 3 , 2 females and 1 male. They along with my cat are all asleep in my bed. I will be breeding them on the girls next heat. That is if it takes. They are so entertaining with each other. I had a male in 1979 who lived to 13 yrs. Animals are better then people,
When I was little I spent a LOT of time with my mother's friends' OES, Sam. She was beyond amazing. My first best ever friend whom I'll never forget. She was just one big hairy bundle of love who followed me around everywhere and didn't have an aggressive atom on her body, at least not towards me. I couldn't get enough of her. I know Nanna from Peter Pan was a Landseer, but Sam always reminded me of her!
they're just so,so lovely! I'll name my OES (when I get one) Jack.damn! I so want to have my own farm with my dogs taking care of the sheeps and cows...
"kindest" - is a big understatement. More like the sweet elite. There is no better breed suited to small children than the OES. That is why they are lovingly given the nickname "Nanny" (as in Peter Pan).
Old english sheepdogs, or bobtails are wonderful dogs, for the most part. IK'm glad we are in the minority of ownership. And oh, why should we have to supply a video in spanish, why does every damn thing have to be written and translated to Spanish. Stop catering!
Answer to the question at the beginning: No, they can't see with that fur over their eyes - they WILL walk into glass doors, objects and get injured if kept that way & the owner is bit cruel for not pulling it back or trimming it (the bangs). They can also get heat exhaustion with a full coat in summer. They are extremely LOW maintenance, if they are kept in a puppy cut. Also, they are non-shedding. I've had 4. If you show them, they need to be in full coat though.
OMG it looks like my stuffed toy has come to life!

I took care of the most disgusting Sheepdog in the world.
Shat everywhere, walked in it and must've rolled in it. She slobbered and pulled like a maniac on leash.
If all sheepdogs are like her, I hate this breed. They look cute though. When they don't have shit in their fur.

I cleaned up after her immediately after she shat herself. I did give her multiple baths while she was staying.
The only time she was left to sit in whatever mess she made was if she did it overnight, as no one was at the clinic to clean it up.
