@blizzard4422 : NO, this is not f****** softball. This goes way beyond softball, or any sport. This is an example of humanity at its best. People recognizing the accomplishment of another, and giving her her due, even when it's to their own disadvantage. It's how PEOPLE should treat each other, not just softball players, not just athletes - EVERYONE. As an employer, I'd HIRE Wallace and Holtman, because they showed CHARACTER.
It's for moments like these, that I truly love being a referee.

@blizzard4422 if you see an injured opponant that cant run their FIRST homerun would YOU pick HIM up and CARRY him around the bases? I dont think so. Its how she displayed character that counts.
@ZombieSlayer1942 she FORGOT to touch one of three bags. then, SHE tore her ACL turning. not to mention that SOFTBALL homeruns are like driving 25 yards from the ladys tee and getting on the green. chittity check yourself, before you rittity reck yourself.
Tis video is so inspiring! My daughter plays sports and hope that in a situation like this, she would demonstrate this much class and sportsmanship. Well done to all involved!
the people that disliked this must think its just about winning and must believe that softball isnt a sport. i played for 15 years and this is the greatest thing i have ever seen in any sport.
Sportsmanship would have been to not showboat, overun first base and blow her knee out. You think a pro would have helped her beat their team? hell no when an opponent is down like this you either drag yourself around the bases or get off the field. Its a competitive sport not the special Olympics where you lose but its ok because everyone gets a big hug at the end!
@scaryalbino1987 You truly dont understand the meaning of the word "sportsmanship" do you? Put yourself in her shoes... Over 8 years of playing and and you get your first home run, anyone would be excited. Missing a bag is not showboating, it happens. Get over yourself!!! It may be true that another team may not have helped her, but the fact these two girls did, should make you do a gut check. It should make you realize that helping someone is bigger than winning a game. ITS ONLY A GAME!!!
@MrCool82 Oh i understand sportsmanship, when i score in rugby i dont even put my hand up i get back in the game and play like its zero zero, i also fallow the rules. So if someone breaks their leg because they tripped and fell over two meters from the try line i dont say well you got close enough try awarded. Its a home run, you go around the bases at a slow jog unless your a jackass. Get over myself? i'm not the one acting all high and mighty like i would never take advantage of a situation.
@scaryalbino1987 man, listen to the story dummy. She was running hard because she's never hit a home run EVER!. It was probably a shock to her that it even went over. Realizing she missed the base, she turned to return to touch the base and POP., torn ACL. Players do miss bases, and often. Even Mark McGwire missed first base when he hit his record breaking 62nd homer to pass Roger Maris. Call him a 'showboat' to his face and he'll fold you up like a chair.
@mike1956will i remember my first home run, i had played for 6 years but i had some discipline and jogged around the bases. Call me a showboat to my face and i will laugh back in yours because you would be wrong. They are call OPPONENTS for a reason, they do not help you when you are at a disadvantage. If the other teams player busted his knee next to the try line and i helped them over i would expect a huge beat down from my team. Because you play to win not to help everyone win.
How is it not sportmanship? They carried her around the bases because she hit a home run, because she deserved to have her run counted. But this isn't even about sportsmanship. This is about being a good person and doing the right thing.
@scaryalbino1987 this is true sportsmanship that should be in all sports, the other sports are greedy everyone who is damn owing you are correct. your a sorry piece shit of a waste of human life.
@critter2 "the other sports are greedy"? what? "everyone who is damn owning you are correct." im assuming you are saying everyone who is saying im wrong for my opinion is correct. Like i said if this was done in my sport i would expect a brutal beating from my team. In fact the last game i played in a guy told me "do that again ill knee you in the face." i looked back at him and said "you didnt do it the first time did you bitch?". The rest of it you just sound like my mom.
Im a 11 year old softbal playa nd i play with da 18 year olds because thats how good i am and i also play with girls my own age nd there was this one girl from PLAINVIEW who hit a homer nd fell while turning to second nd the first basemen the had the ball and could of goten her out but instead she threw her mit and the ball nd tryed to help the girl up nd she just couldnt get up so me my self as a catcher took my helmet and chest guard off nd helped her get her homer and we still lost but so wt

Wow what a story. Great to see in this day and age. The world has become so sterile greedy and angry. I grew up playing sports and although I had my moments it taught me more about life than my parents teachers or friends ever could. I learned everything I ever needed to know. Great story and good for her
in a world full of greedy athletes who complain that 100 million isn't good enough, these athletes who are playing for the love the game are TRUE players. yes, i cried the very first time i saw this, it's truly inspiring. perhaps this should be shown to all players on the first day of spring training to get them in line and remember why they started playing sports in the first place
@bobbyjo07 You have to understand something maybe there team lost but both Lizzi , and Mallory are winners in my book . Like I said if we where playing a soccer game ,and other teams golie got hurt bad .Or at s martial arts tournament where a child frome another school got hurt bad. If I saw some children helping that child like this , and seeing one was one of my daughters .I'd be in tears because i'd be so proud of them .
