I retired from ATSF in 1986 as a Throttle Jerker, I remember when I was a Fireman on the old Baldwin Steamers in 1945 then became a throttle jerker in 1946. Enjoy your retirement.
They never appreicate people like Jim who helped made the railroad, now they hire all these youngster who don't a rat's ass or care about their job !!! Then bosses wonder why morale is down around the railroad industry !!! RIP Jim Scott, I didn't know you but sounds like you were cool person !!!
No big party like they do it in the office. Just a few handshakes, best wishes from his w'orking buddies, and off to home. Family is there, that's what counts. Good job, engineer Jim. You are one of the people that makes things work. That in itself is a reward. Enjoy your retirement, or start a new career. There's a shortage of good people out there, someone needs you.
