Have you ever experienced this...When my imac 27inch has been sleeping for almost 3 to 6 hours or w.e for a long time....i would see a bunch of white spots on my screen especially if you use a black wallpaper. But their obviously not dead because when i move a window like firefox or imovie over those white spots they disappear. This is not an issue when my computer has been OFF for a long time, only when it sleep for awhile like 4 to 6 hours. Thanks
@Nuclear793 Haha, yes of course it COULD, but it's so funny that it happens to a more than 1000 Dollar Device :D I've had like 10 Windows Computers now and it just never happened :D
The i7 iMacs have a 3 week delivery time, at the moment. So if it is a new one, i guess you have brought it in a normal shop? Also what week number is it? The newer weeks iMacs shuld not have a lot of these issues. Atleast not after what the rumor says. Its more or less only the yellow tingie that is left. And after the rumor Apple have a fix for it in around 2-3weeks.
I have exactly the same problem with my new imac quad core. It also turns itself on and off and sometimes the shift is as low as half way down the screen. It's intermittent and I have no way of knowing how long it will go on for. Called Apple and got told to wipe my hard drive and re-install system... like that's going to sort a box fresh machine with the correct ROM Revision installed. Got to send them photos and video now to prove it's happening!!! I just want a machine that works!
its overheating dude, go get as program called smcFanControl (version 2.2.2) . I had the IDENTICAL issue with mine, problem is that they ship the units with the fan speed below 1000 rpm on all 3 internal fans and they need to be turned up, install this it will boot and show up up in the right hand corner of your toolbar near your wireless and click on it and adjust your fan speeds, mine is ramped up to 1600 rpm and cools just fine. trust me dude, i got the i5, and i thought i was screwed

This seems to be a GPU issue rather than a problem with the display itself.
And don't worry: A higher price tag doesn't mean greater reliabilty. My $1800 Thinkpad T410s gives me a headache from time to time as well...

@Metamike332 school computers don't count, btw look up PC graphic card problems, you will see it happens to PC's as much as a mac

@Nuclear793 Man, you don't understand the point. It's just so hilarious that it happens to a machine that cost
1.699 € (German Prize) And it's also funny that it happens to an Apple machine >.< :D And no, I didn't count my school computers :D

This is why I have a PC, and I am pretty sure updating the drivers for your mac might help with the screen destortion.

@nfsmw8v8 as he mentioned in the description, when rare problems like these happen, apple releases a fix for it. Same thing with pc.
