I'm no fan of many railbuffs either, although there's nice ones too. Things from them most irritating are claims of super-secret inside info on all things "rail" (usually from dad, uncle, friend, & 2 brothers who work for the railroad), sometimes think they're a walking encyclopedia of rail-knowledge, & tend to argue about EVERYTHING, as trivial as when some certain loco was repainted. That said, the ones in this thread with the pissiest "Know-It-All-Better-Than-You" attitudes are NOT railfans.
you know people want to place blame on the engineer when someone pulls in front of them but it just goes to show ya at lest 90% of them know what their doin.
yo i know what you meen, fucking some rail buffs get so sad, and upset that it flipps there hole world upside down . its fucking pathetic lol. this one dude i know got a newspaper tossed at him by the one conductor, in it was the classifides and a post it said: get a job! lol that get got so upset, and now all he does is wine about it. fucking stupid. oh yeah, also a good video!
@TheDeadhead426 LMAO! If a Conductor through a Newspaper that said get a job on it, I would laugh it off. You're right, no need to get but hurt over everything
this kind of crap happens all the time. nobody ever talks to each other about what is going on until it is too late and then it is the t&e crew's fault. i would have done the same thing-if i have a signal i'm taking it. i will say that if i was going home and wasn't close to overtime i might have asked about the recrew, but if on ot then forget it, i'll wait. that's the attitude csx management will make you have. fill my pockets with your mistakes.
just think. i wanted to be a trainman since i was a kid. and work for csx. i still love railroading, but thank god i am a truck driver! i get to sleep in my own bed every night, see my wife every day, and watch you guys eat crap!. sorry, and thanks for posting this, it only solidifies my feelings for not following through with the csx conductor class!!!
P.S. Does anyone know what the present status of CSX roadslugs 2375 & 2376 is? These are the two GP30 hulks that CSX bought from Ohio Central back in August. I've been itching for months now to see what they'll look like once they become slugs and what GP40-2s will be mated with them. I personally hope that CSX 2375's mate (which I presume will be 6975) will be of Conrail heritage, as 2375 is so far, CSX's only slug that was previously owned by Conrail.
You know what I just found out about what is happening to CSX GP40s compared to NS GP40s. CSX has been taking their 1st generation GP40s and rebuilding them into roadslugs and mating them with GP40-2s, while NS, on the other hand, has been rebuilding some of their 1st generation GP40s and turning them into GP40-2s. It makes me wonder what CSX's GP40s would say about that (if they could talk).
Still hilarious as hell. They do, however, do recrews even at green's. A southbound empty coal was holding short of the Big Sandy Jct and had to wait on it's final member with a green light, while a loaded coal came down the Kanawaha past it. Pretty interesting day though.
very interesting Video! but was the guy in the video who said Fuck You in Q271? i see he was having fun with it and i get what you mean some people just dont Get It Very Unique Video!
hey sorry if you don't like how CSX handels things, just shut the fuck up and stop whining, all railroads are the same, they move shit, just in there own way, and it doesn't ****ing matter how they do stuff, as long as the shit gets where its going everyone's happy, plus CSX knows what its doing, if the crews suck, stop, change em, and go
I'm now terrified of CSX trains. A yellow and blue CSX train killed a 21 year old man here. Discrepancies between the engineer and conductor, and two witnesses who saw it happen. If this is any indication of how CSX employees are, I'm inclined to accept what the 2 witnesses saw over what the CSX engineer and conductor said. They didnt blow the horn until it was too late, and didnt apply brakes until moment of impact, yet say they saw the car 200 feet away. Hmmmmm...
OK. I am calmly going to ask a couple of questions. Was it a crossing i.e. where a road crosses tracks and there are lights, gates, bells or at least a sign that says railroad crossing and it is in the shape of an X. Or was it a private crossing i.e. where a road crosses the tracks and there is only a stop sign for vehicular traffic or nothing at all. Because trains are only required to blow for crossings, not private crossings.
It is a crossing with a cross buck. No lights or gates. Had there been, at least, lights, he would still be with us today. It was a road he traveled daily. Horn was blasted one time, right b4 impact, according to the witnesses. When a person travels a road on a daily basis, the crossing becomes just another part of the road. This is why all crossings should have signals,so that when people are distracted,or preoccupied(and who among us isn't at times?)the blinking lights will alert.
Trains do not kill people, people who get in front of trains get killed. An engineer can not make the train swerve to hit someone. And the ENGINEER IS NOT DRIVING A CAR. HITTING THE BRAKES AT THE LAST GODDAMM SECOND (anything short of 1000 feet) WILL NOT MAKE THE TRAIN SLOW DOWN (i am assuming the train was doing more than 10mph) so take your hmmmmmmmmmm somewhere else
In this instance, yes, trains do kill people, because there are no signals at this crossing, and there should be. I am well aware that a train cannot stop on a dime, and that is exactly why all crossings should at least have signals. And may God forgive you for your blasphemy, sir.
I'm not worried about god. Old men who write rules worry about blasphemy. as for the subject at hand i do agree that if they only blew the horn once then the crew was partly at fault and i agree that all crossings should have at least lights. The crew also travels that route daily and that does not excuse them from blowing just as the man driving the road daily does not excuse hime from looking for a train. i am sorry for your loss
Audiophile55, trains have the capability of killing people, but if you stay out of their way, and look before crossing, it shouldn't be a problem. If it was a lightly-used road, then it probably needs only crossbucks. If it is Private, then it definitely needs only crossbucks. Some private crossings require no train horn, so this may be the case. It doesn't matter if someone travels the road daily or not, that doesn't mean the crew now has to sound the horn.
youre fucking stupid: TRAINS ARE THOUSANDS OF POUNDS PLUS THE ROLLING STOCK. its not like theyre gonna go from like 50 miles an hour to 0 in 5 seconds. learn some shit.
Possessed Donutz,First of all, cool it with the profanity!
Secondly,*You* need to learn something, yourself. If they saw that the car, at 200 feet away, wasn't going to stop, why did they wait until the moment of impact to apply the brakes? Do the math! The train was going 44 mph, the car was "rolling across the tracks". No, they couldn't have stopped, but they didn't even try. Also, why did they wait until they got up to the crossing to blow the horn, when it was too late?
trains should not have to sop for the cars, because people in cars have more fucking control. plus the trains wasnt going to be able to stop anyway. third, like dumbbuff sayd, if 'twas a private crossing, the trains dont realloy need to use the horn.
You can't speak to me w/o the use of profanity, which reveals your lack of dignity and self respect.
I didn't say "trains should have to stop for the cars".The point is, the train crew should have applied the brakes before impact, not at impact. It's train crewmen like this that make the good ones look bad. It isn't a "private crossing",it is a heavily traveled rural road.If there had been signals, the driver would have stopped. It is as simple as that.
Audiophile55, maybe not on every railroad, but on at least some, you can be put to blame if you throw the train into emergency and don't actually hit something. So, to avoid this situation, it is required the crew applies the emergency brakes upon impact, and not ahead of time. Not sure if CSX follows this practice though. Using the emergency brakes can cause a derailment, broken couplers, or several other things that the railroad doesn't want to deal with.
@CSXno601 "Don't Dump unless you Bump" for those who do not know, means don't exhaustrain brake line air until you actually hithe idiot. Often trespassers or vehicles manage to clear the crossing just in time before the train arrives. So no emergency brake application unless you hit or will hit.
In Castle Rock, Colorado, Missy's car stalled on the track. The crossing signals activated 25 seconds before train arrival, but moron Missy stayed in her car and was hit. GET OUT, GET AWAY.
And this relates to this how? Q271 was moving along at, most, 20mph. They were scheduled for a recrew somewhere near this meet, but they didn't listen. They had ample time to stop. They were just stupid and went farther...
Hey dumbbuff, you are the best engineer what ever i`ve seen, everywhere in your all videos you have fun,you are the best man :D,5* for you, greets from europe ;)
dumbbuff: Want to know something even dumber? It's when a railroad spends $1,100.00 on a horn to replace one that can be fixed for $80.00. Perfectly fine Leslie RS-5Ts get crushed by CSX, in exchange for the lousy K5LA horns you hear down that line today. I'm not kidding! Add to that, the stupendous amounts of money they spend on junk GE motors (um, "locomotives", in other words).
LMFAO i hear radio exchanges similar to that often on BNSF's Emporia sub when 2 trains pass each other , including playing a bit of music (heard the beginning of OZZY's crazy train once :P ). how did some people misinterpret it?
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!! Hey gotta have fun while on duty, this I damn sure know for sure!!! Y'all should see how we bust balls here at Metro-North!! And hey, Dumbbuff, Tommy Walsh sez hello!! :)
CSX is just fine, but they make the occasional mistake. All railroads are like this. CSX just gets more attention than others, because shit-spreaders (like alot of the commenters on here) create rumors and give CSX negative publicity. If you "dance to CSX's tune", and not muck up the system, then you should be just fine on CSX.
dumbuff no offense against you but its really not the railroad its self its the people working there my dads been there for 10 years and loves it and i plan on doin the same and do you have any tips for being a good railfan
dumbbuff quick question when youre an enginner on csx or w/e freight railroad, do you stick to one region of the railroad or do you transfer around to different lines, were you always on the river line?
my seniority let me work a pretty big chunk of railroad, pretty much boston across to cleveland, both routes south out of selkirk and the line from syracuse to massena, but working all of them would require alot of qualifying and moving around. all in all i spent about half my time on the hudson line and half my time on the river line. i hired out of oak point, worked out of selkirk for a while and ended up working out of north jersey. worked evry yard in between too. croton was the best.
Now in your other clip you wanted to drive rail fans nuts with the music but this one is calm and you said you like the AC6000CW if i were you i would not of cared what the other people said you should have just stood up for yourself because in the other clip the music was put on there for a reason but your clips are actually ammusing to me great job!
Now thats funny gotta have fun at work somehow. Nice video, had to read through and watch it a couple of times to fully understand what you were saying. Too bad the railroads do that to their employees.
What was the comment on the radio just before you said that CSX was wasting your time? Someone asking where the hell you were? Bit hard to hear that over the sound of Q271 (complete with such a kind, constructive comment from the Engr ;-))
"and saying fuck you is about one of the sanest things ever done during a meet." tell me about it. I don't know how long you've been working the railroad, but back in the 1980s and 90's... saying that was talking mildly... especially if a yard switch crew is involved... nice vid.
I really don't understand why it is that you railroader's act like you are any better than railfans. It is hilarious. You laugh at us for having a hobby in trains - well, you guys actually work ON the trains. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, it is just funny that you think you are somehow better than railfans, and contradict yourself at the same time. Also, please don't respond with profane language or something of the sort. I expect it, but oh well, I am just proving a point.
I spent 8 and a half years working for CSX as a engineer out of Richmond VA working to rocky mount nc or florence sc. CSX sucked but when i met NS engineers they complained even more then us. When i switched to amtrak in 2003 i had BNSF and UP engineers in my class and they really complained badly about their railroads especially the UP guys. Fact is in railroading we all got something to complain about. guy in my class came from Metro north and said he hated it, so go figure.
lol all engineers complain on all RRs.. i complain all the damn time on NS. it goes with the job man..i have done this for 9 years and it don't get any better. usually i just sit and wait for the shuttle to take me on in to the hotel. story of our lives
Man CSX sucks. No wonder there are all kinds of errors and derailments with them, they run their employees into the ground! And they get important trains like UPS TOFCs held behind terribly unlike BNSF or UP.
LOL! ahhhh the joys of being a hogger!

LMFAO i hear radio exchanges similar to that often on BNSF's Emporia sub when 2 trains pass each other , including playing a bit of music (heard the beginning of OZZY's crazy train once :P ). how did some people misinterpret it?

CSX is just fine, but they make the occasional mistake. All railroads are like this. CSX just gets more attention than others, because shit-spreaders (like alot of the commenters on here) create rumors and give CSX negative publicity. If you "dance to CSX's tune", and not muck up the system, then you should be just fine on CSX.

Hey dumbbuff... if you hated the job so much, why didn't you quit earlier? Or did you get run off?
You don't deserve to be called a railroader. How about "Pathetic Loser?" Suits you better.

dumbbuff quick question when youre an enginner on csx or w/e freight railroad, do you stick to one region of the railroad or do you transfer around to different lines, were you always on the river line?
DanD3815 3 years ago 2
my seniority let me work a pretty big chunk of railroad, pretty much boston across to cleveland, both routes south out of selkirk and the line from syracuse to massena, but working all of them would require alot of qualifying and moving around. all in all i spent about half my time on the hudson line and half my time on the river line. i hired out of oak point, worked out of selkirk for a while and ended up working out of north jersey. worked evry yard in between too. croton was the best.
dumbbuff 3 years ago
you should work for bnsf fast trains and safe scheduling

BNSF is one of the Unsafest RR's in America Like Up Amtrak was rated #1 then NS & Then CSX BNSF was down alot farther Like Up

Now thats funny gotta have fun at work somehow. Nice video, had to read through and watch it a couple of times to fully understand what you were saying. Too bad the railroads do that to their employees.
trainman1986 3 years ago
What was the comment on the radio just before you said that CSX was wasting your time? Someone asking where the hell you were? Bit hard to hear that over the sound of Q271 (complete with such a kind, constructive comment from the Engr ;-))
dni252 3 years ago
he said something to the effect of "do that on your own time". the dude is cool he was just fuckin with me
dumbbuff 3 years ago
"and saying fuck you is about one of the sanest things ever done during a meet." tell me about it. I don't know how long you've been working the railroad, but back in the 1980s and 90's... saying that was talking mildly... especially if a yard switch crew is involved... nice vid.

This whole thing between CSX sickens me! I guess the guy on some other video was right about CSX not being a good place to work for.

I expect it, but oh well, I am just proving a point.

read duster92's comment (it was marked as spam i believe) and you will see why i needed to clarify shit for railfans. btw i am a railfan also

Fact is in railroading we all got something to complain about. guy in my class came from Metro north and said he hated it, so go figure.
hhp664 4 years ago 3
My uncle is an NS engineer. Has been since 1970. He loves his job but he could care less about the whole railfanning thing.
BoxcarFrank 4 years ago
lol all engineers complain on all RRs.. i complain all the damn time on NS. it goes with the job man..i have done this for 9 years and it don't get any better. usually i just sit and wait for the shuttle to take me on in to the hotel. story of our lives

Man CSX sucks. No wonder there are all kinds of errors and derailments with them, they run their employees into the ground! And they get important trains like UPS TOFCs held behind terribly unlike BNSF or UP.
