@akypris It's a pretty good game. There's some gameplay issues, but still, it's a good game. I spent about 90-100 hours in the game (in my first playthrough, I checked every corner). The boss fights can be a pain in the ass, and they force player to use lethal weapons to kill the enemies. The game is too rewarding. Let's hope Thief 4 is good as Human Revolution. I have high expectations for it.
@TehBarnz disagree with the teime i spent only about 15 - 16 hours on my first playthrough n yes used stealth n mostly non lethal nest i went for the hardest difficulty on completely stealth n non lethal completed the first mission in 20mins (i took like 2-3 hours on it the first time), the key to the game however is the learning curve how to get around things i.e exploiting the game system and a.i and yes no cracks or hacks or codes.
The original Deus Ex was built around the concept of player agency; DXHR, by contrast, is a shooter (and a fairly anaemic one) with a few alternate paths hard-coded into the levels. It cripples players’ sense of agency by forcing them into utterly incongruous boss fights so as to satisfy its creators’ screenwriting ambitions (not to mention the fucking scripted takedown/augmentation horsewank).

When Deus Ex was released many gamers were pleased with the result. It was a science fiction adventure which brought you to many excellent locations. You can see Thief having some influence on the design since Deus Ex borrows elements from it. I cannot help feel a sense of sadness when I play Deus Ex, because it has serious issues that will annoy most gamers around. It has several flaws and problems that could have been fixed. I find myself playing Thief instead, since it is the superior game.

Played this game for 4 hours today and I don't want it to stop, ever, this is my first playthrough (sorta, I played till I got to hong kong where I got stuck the first time) even though I'm part of the COD/Halo generation (both of which suck in my opinion) I enjoy the games from before my time way more, especially Duke Nukem 3d and Deus Ex.
@AlienCarg0 You're spot-on about Bethesda's definition of an RPG, but Bioware's style is more like crafting an immersive storyline first, then building decent gameplay around it. All the dialogue choices and different endings are just apart of Bioware's philosophy of shifting the gameworld based on your choices.
@MrZafod How the hell do you compare a linear corridor shooter with a shooter with role playing elements, that doesn't make any sense. I think System Shock 2 would be a better choice for a comparison. It's much better than Deus Ex, but it has no critical choices you can take in the game.
@TehBarnz, Half Life was a revolutionary game for it's time. It introduced realism, a dense plot, interaction and comhmands to non-player-characters, chapters instead of levels etc in a fps. But hell yeah a like Deus Ex better. Half Life, Deus Ex and System Shock 2 are my favorite FPSs.
@Itto100 You can't really compare Half-Life with Deus Ex. Like I said earlier here, they're different games. I mean, that's like comparing Fallout: Tactics with Fallout 2. They may look same, but they don't work same way.
@MrZafod Halflife gameplay was better, Deus Ex's story was better. I'll take story any day of the week. Also, Halflife was not as revolutionary as people think, it was really just Quake 2 taken to its logical extension.

I remember when I was playing Dark Forces II (which is one of the greatest games of all time) all day while waiting for the expansion pack, until Half-Life came along. It was a mind blowing experience. Yeah it's not revolutionary like System Shock or Doom, but it's a solid shooter in my book.
@TehBarnz Half-life was incredibly good, it was revolutionary BECAUSE of it's story and gameplay, not just story. But they fell short with the story, and just disappeared. I haven't played Deus Ex yet, but I plan on getting it soon after seeing this

@TheOldschool81 Obsidian did the Alpha Protocol game that was supposed to be an RPG but had no RPG elements. Bethesda is constantly making their RPG's smaller in size and shallower in story. 5 years ago I would have said Bioware, but they don't do RPG's any more either. In fact REAL RPG's are a dying breed and seem to be going the way of the point and click adventure genre!

Nah, but in all honesty, I think I could still easily pay 25e (not sure how much in £) for fine condition original Deus Ex. Deus Ex: Invisible War would be worth 5-10e.

I tried to go into this game with an open mind, but I really didn't get it. I'm no stranger to stealth games, but I just didn't know where I was supposed to be going, who I was killing, and what the story was... I was only on the first level, but it didn't exactly draw me in

Deus ex is amazing, play the game and you'll stop caring about the graphics 30 minutes in, and if that fails, just download the High Definition Texture Pack, and the lighting enhancer.
Well, I guess some more game pass that uncally valley, Something like Halo 3 is rather well made.. However, I said I liked the gameplay, but I just disliked the graphics and it distracted me.. So I guess downloading the Texture Pack and Light Enhancer will work..

@TehBarnz Half-life was incredibly good, it was revolutionary BECAUSE of it's story and gameplay, not just story. But they fell short with the story, and just disappeared. I haven't played Deus Ex yet, but I plan on getting it soon after seeing this

@MrZafod I actaully remember specificaly choosing between the two in a store. I picked up Half-Life but at the time I wasnt into RPG's so I wouldn't have been able to appretiate Deus Ex at the time.
I love but games. I was 12 when I made the decision, Its been 5 years since then and the games had been around for quite a while, I guess thats when I turned oldschool! :D

@TollSchaft mmm. ultimately these are opinions, but, as far as gaming standards go, no, fallout the originals were FAR superior because of the gameplay, graphics do not make a game. Fallout 3 was oblivion, just skinned differently, and weird RPG elements, like, you're headshot didn't kill that dude, because your bullets weren't at a high enough level....

@TheOldschool81 Obsidian did the Alpha Protocol game that was supposed to be an RPG but had no RPG elements. Bethesda is constantly making their RPG's smaller in size and shallower in story. 5 years ago I would have said Bioware, but they don't do RPG's any more either. In fact REAL RPG's are a dying breed and seem to be going the way of the point and click adventure genre!

I understand that bethesda is also good at making rpg games such as fallout 3 (One of my most favorite games) But that game's story and rpg can't be compared to what square enix has made in the past.

@nofx6678: Your £6 is not worth this game. If it cost £6 pay at least £26. Deus Ex 3 is coming soon so you might as well pay £46 for original greatness. Nah, but in all honesty, I think I could still easily pay 25e (not sure how much in £) for fine condition original Deus Ex. Deus Ex: Invisible War would be worth 5-10e.

i like mw2( not so much) and bad company 2 (best war multiplayer ever) but i think deus ex( masterpiece) is the best game ever and is the best game i ever played in my life, and this mission is the worst of the game but still better than the entire bad company 2 and mw2 campaing togheter.. thats my opinion don't blame me for it,

I tried to go into this game with an open mind, but I really didn't get it. I'm no stranger to stealth games, but I just didn't know where I was supposed to be going, who I was killing, and what the story was... I was only on the first level, but it didn't exactly draw me in

@daniel304kingkong But the graphics today still look pretty shitty, The only game I've seen which passes the uncanny valley is Crysis, and that's a generation above consoles, honestly.
Deus ex is amazing, play the game and you'll stop caring about the graphics 30 minutes in, and if that fails, just download the High Definition Texture Pack, and the lighting enhancer.

System Shock 2, Half Life 1(think it was 1998), the First Unreal... i believe those were real masterpieces.
Now, maybe due to the pirate-files or to file-sharing, no.one game.house spend too much money for a game that you can also find free into a videogames magazines 6 months later..
It's a pity, but only with the 3d video.card, during the passage to accelerate 3d-games, i saw the greatest video pc-games..(1998-2000)
