  • By the way, M Squad, the entire series, is available on DVD.

  • It should be mentioned that the creators of "Police Squad", who clearly got the inspiration from "M Squad", got the inspiration for doing "Airplane!" from a film called "Zero Hour!", which features characters and plot lines that are exactly like the ones in "Airplane!" (only it's not done for laughs).

  • Any resemblance between this opening and "Police Squad" is purely intentional.

  • Now I understand what inspired the comic series Police Squad. Even the theme song is similar.

  • ThermidorReleasing thank you. I'm 63 and remember M Squad in the UK when I was 14. It has always been with me. Thanks.

  • I never forgot watching this show as a kid.

It was always black, moody and rainy and

Lee Marvin, well, he was plain amazing as an actor. He brought realism

and grit to the screen. And that cool jazz music-just WOW!

  • @lionsgate12345 - I remember my parents' watching this show on Friday nights when I was a boy. I definitely remember that theme song (didn't know till later that the orchestra of the great Count Basie either wrote or at least played it).

  • Cool looking show...this really reminds me of Michael Mann's cop shows that came several decades later

  • This episode is called "The Vanishing Lady!"

  • How do you know that?

  • Fantastic Show!! I've looking for this since I last saw it on TV 50 years ago!! Thanks for posting!!

  • the couple that got pulled over and robbed were driving an Edsel. This was a cool show.

  • If it wasn't for "M Squad", and for it's theme, (which was conducted by the legend Count Basie) ABC wouldnt've had the idea of "Police Squad", which was, however, a parody of this series, and was basically a sitcom. But, even though this was a early crime-drama series, it was a big influence on other themes!

  • I think i know the other detective seris you might be refering to:- 77 Sunset Strip, Peter Gunn and Staccato?

  • @Hickey66 There was another short-lived show from the mid-sixties called "Coronet Blue" that also featured a cool Jazz/Pop score.

  • Thank you very much for M Squad.

  • This soundtrack is totally different of the RCA LP because Count Basie is really playing piano here and all the tunes are totally different ! Amazing !

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THIS.
