The bike he was jumping, is not made for jumping, put someone on a modern motocross bike, and that jump is childs play...Robbie Maddison just set a world record jump (322 ft.) he jumped an entire football field.

That's funny because while playing "TOCA pro racer 3" the other day with a friend we watched a replay of a lap at indy at 2x speed from in-car view. I asked him how long he thought it would be until they were at that speed. 100 years? 50? He said "never", because of the limits of tires, g forces, etc. I said those limits are based on what we know now, who knowa what will be invented by then. We go twice as fast around indy in 1990 as we did in 1910 or so, they'd have said the same back then.
The machines evolve quite quickly, lighter, stronger, faster. Safe to say the entry ramp speed of the 300+ ft jump is much higher than Evil's famous Caesar's jump, and while the safety equipment also improves, the ability of the human body to take massive injuries has not kept up. TeletubbieX conveyed my sentiments exactly.
what would we do without people like this guy and josh bender. they are never going to land something but they do it anyway and we stay happy because we laugh when they crash.

If he made the jump, people will say "Wow! he's awesome and fuckin' crazy!". If he didn't (as what had happened), people will say "He's stupid for even trying that stupid stunt!". My advice to the jumper (if he's still alive), don't do that again. It's not worth it. Read the Bible, it's worth your time.:-)
