Hi I have been watching your UCVlog for over a year and i just want to thank you .i had UC for 7-8 years . i just had my ileostomy on Jan 27 2011 and that was the BEST thing i could have ever doen. i am pain free and i am loving it. i was going to have the J-pouch but i think i will just stay with the ileostomy cuz i have been having small flare ups and i dont wont to go through that anymore . that is okay cuz i an pain free and living life to the it fullest!!!!! thanks again <3
Glad I found this video. Im 25 and I once had uc and they removed my entire colon. The J pouch I have now has been nothing but painful for me. I get flare ups of infections so often that I have not been able to work for a long time now. My gastro doc has been trying to combat it with a mix of 3 antibiotics and steriods.Nothing stays good forever. So I have been debating on getting a permanent ostomy.
After 10 months, I have finally adjusted to having an ostomy appliance for what might be the rest of my life. An ostomy nurse resolved my problem of leakage by fitting me with an appliance appropriate for me. Every once and a while I might have a minor leak due to adhesive problems, but for the most part I'm adjusting well. I am 63 years old and am on kidney hemodialysis and have heart problems---currently solved by a pacemaker. Your webpage & videos have been most helpful. God Bless You.
I almost never post anything, but I have to say that I'm currently a nursing student and our lab for today involved ostomy care. Our professor is so impressed with your videos that we viewed three of them to help us better understand and care for our ostomy patients. I was very taken by your optimism. I find you and your videos to be very inspiring and I wanted to say thanks because you have a great way of bridging the gap so someone like me can better understand and care for ostomy patients.
I now have a permanent Ileostomy after a 10 year battle with UC. Like many before me have said, it sucks but its something you just deal with. I'm 24 now and have had 6 surgeries. My heart goes out to everyone dealing with UC.

It really isn't a big deal. I've had my permanent Iliostomy for 2 months and it's SO much better than living with the disease.
