  • ha ha.........four "sixty-nine"!

  • ah, a VERY early ep. i can tell by the off-white slides

  • Also, the pass spin SFX in the early PYL episodes was also heard on Tattletales as well. You know which version of Tattletales that I'm talking about that used the B&E ding bell.

  • man..... gsn screwed us again. that's it. i say we retailate and if anyone has anymore episodes from november 85 thru the end of the shows run, we would love it.

  • And the dollar amounts were down to $100 and $150 in the first round plus the $750 in the big bucks square. The highest cash prize was $1250.

  • I've seen enough of this. light's out. LOL!

  • The board sounds strange here as opposed to what I'm used to

  • "Stop at... Uh-Oh!"

lol funny moment for some reason

  • this is from 1983

  • This is a hoot!

  • I noticed that the back wall didn't change from blue to purple to red. It would only change from blue to purple only.

  • It was purple the first week. Then it was red for about 3 weeks. Then it went to light blue, then to navy blue

  • Yeah, looks weird too!, the backwall went from blue to purple occurence lasted until around October 5, 1983 I think.

  • At least there was the "BOING"! sound effect when the Whammy card popped up.

  • '89?

  • I think he meant '86

  • i never liked the '89 boards

  • The whammy noise and the pass effect, didn't deut til the second week of PYL, and the 1st oard sound effect was until November 1983.

  • Yea. The pass noise sounds like the one used from tic tac dough when money get added to the pot.

  • I think it was. It seems like gameshows shared sounds back then.

  • And the earned spin sound, sounded like the match noise from Match Game.

  • That's because they were both CBS game shows. On any game show you hear that familiar 'ding' sound effect (you hear it alot on TPiR), it's definitely on CBS because they taped it in the same studio, which is CBS TV City. So that's the story on those sound effects. It's CBS' signature sound fx.

  • Actually, PYL was usually taped in a different studio than Match Game and TPIR. Same complex, though.

  • Well that's true, too. But they're still in the same area, like u said. That familiar 'ding' sound effect tells u that it's definitely a CBS game show.

  • That's true. I think the sound for passing spins (used only in early episodes, like this one) was used on Hollywood Squares.

  • That passing spin sound sounds like the correct answer ding on TJW to me.

  • Yep, it was all done at CBS, although all those shows are now owned by Fremantle, so it's their SFX. Not CBS's.

  • Not TJW. Barry & Enright shows are owned by Sony.

  • Oh, right. I forgot about Joker's Wild. D'oh! But all the Goodson shows(The Price is Right, Match Game, Card Sharks, etc.) and PYL are all Fremanlte's.

  • They usually taped at Studio 41 for most of the run but for the first few months they taped at studio 33.

  • Also the sound for passing spins was different--also notice some $100 and $150 squares? And the whammy sound effect didn't come when he was hit.

  • that board sounds weird

  • yes, that was this until November 1983

  • Lol! $750 in square #4.
