Judy Collins made the first commercial recording of this fabulous Joni Mitchell in 1968 and it is hard to go past it but his is an excellent cover and I would agree it is the best male version to date.

my mom used to sing this to me as a lullaby so ive been trying to find a version of this song that sounds like what she used to sing and this is the closest i have found so far

Yeah it is now my favourite version. With Mr. Williams there is always a bit of bittersweetness and it works perfectly with this song.
