  • this one is so cute too! :-)

  • !!!!!!!

    Thanks

  • both eerie and genuine

  • 0.0

  • how depressing

  • you guys are amazing

  • look at all those people. they are so high.

  • the author is reading.

  • is this narrated by kevin spacey?

  • @jdjbarnat It does sound like kevin spacey lol

  • @di8torted He looks like Kevin Spacey, too.

  • 45 people have little plastic faces EVERY day.

  • @Kurzula5150

Who the fuck are you kidding? Your trendy ass works at the plastic face factory.

  • gratification given to someone who expresses themselves. god bless.

each and every single one of us has this. give it a try instead of trying to follow.

  • huh?

  • i love this!

  • Nice!

  • Otto is starting to reconsider some of the choices he has made. The things we want for our selfs and believe they are the best for us are not necessarily the things we choose. Our judgment is blinded by our desire for our belief, so we make a choice hoping it is our belief. Deep down we know that we are wrong ...we will always be wrong because our belief was not meant to be..........

  • Wtf is this? o_O

  • cind of creepy

  • boooooooooooooooo

  • with which programm is this made?

  • @UniBoxSystem A camera and some toys

  • @omri898 hm true..i dont know why i asked this xD

  • very good

  • love it!

  • Genius!

  • The exigencies of suburban family life. Oh joy, let us consume another turkey and talk of pilgrims, and Jesus. "Whatever happened to those poor Indian savages Mumsy?" "Oh, dear! We must have the grace not to speak of them at the table" "Why does Billy have that plastic look on his face then?" "He always looks like that dear"

  • Um. Wow. Brilliant!

And how creepily that reminds me of an episode of Dollhouse too! eee!

  • im scared

  • something..

  • SOMETHING! xD

  • Fabulous - its been a while since I've seen any of Julian's animation - cracking stuff :D

  • ok.....

  • you have a brilliant perception of life itself,by expressing it in verse.

  • Brilliant! Check out King Lear of the Taxi - shortlisted by Portobello Film Fest, London.

  • so true..so true wtf are u talking about?

  • MAGNIFICENT!!

  • right well excuse me for not having an insightful comment but that creeped me right the hell out.

  • humiltiy tips the average man into low self esteem.

observing our fellow humans without knowing that we are also human creates a false sense of superiority that we all eventually fall from.Ouch, Plastic= ordinary? love Bill C.!!

  • wats the structure of this poem

  • Billy Collins has enriched my life =)

  • "some days"

  • Sounds like he's talking about the occasional dinner at the in-law's house

  • sounds like all the characters Kevin Spacey has ever played.LOL.but it emotionally removes me just enough to listen with my own inner voice.love it!

  • This is indeed the voice of the poet. It is a little mechanical but I presume that there is a reason for this. Besides, I kinda like how it sounds.

  • Is it the poet who is the voice over? If so, how can he be so machine-like? I liked the "Best Cigarette" as an animation, and this one, I loved the concept!

  • E P I C

  • i love the metophor! :30 sec.

  • What metophor? Just curious

  • Wow! That's deep. It sounds like he went to the Kevin Spacey School for narration. There once was a man from Calcutta . . . Now that's poetry. Jeez! These Poem Gnomes are really touchy!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't care if that this guy was the national poet, if you want to actually hear someone who can set a page on fire, go check out Jeff McDaniel's "Foxhole Manifesto" - that's real poetry.

  • btw i checked out the poem ur taking about ...its good lol but its a different kind of poem...its proformance poetry ...its for people who dont like to read and would prefer to watch youtube videos are tv

so ya cant really compare ...its just really funny that you would call that "real poetry"...it just proves how childlike you are

  • hahaha. you actually call people "childlike"? what a douche. i've actually got a master's, but thanks - i take being young as a compliment. either way, this is unimaginative crap. anyone could write this, and that's why page poetry is suffering so much these days - because it hasn't evolved. it's a bunch of post-modernist trash from people clinging to a sad coffee shop outcast identity. so grow up and get over it.

  • Hey!

I love my coffee shop outcast identity! ;)

  • hahaha - no offense meant. they're my people too sometimes. though i prefer diners.

  • are u sure ur just not a little jealous that your not getting any awards for your work and noone is making videos for your poms and posting them on youtube ...or are you upset that billy collins will be remembered long after he's dead and now will ever who the hell you are ?

  • clearly it's a fame thing, since his video has gotten a hundred thousand hits, compared to something like Avril's "Girlfriend"...which has a hundred MILLION. yes. clearly. good point. i'm sure billy collins is very proud of his immortalized self every time you name your RPG character after him and level him up. sweet.

  • 1st of all my RPG character is named shinnyuu and second implying that i enjoy playing role playing games in now way proves my lack of insight or demeans my character

    ...and 3rd...bakata ...u lost

  • wow i've only heard of this gut he's amazing! i love his poetry it's so straight forward

  • Wonderful poem. Cant stop watching it.Good job :) Thanks.

  • a wonderful poet who is beyond the reach of most of the twats who have bothered to scrawl these awful comments.Go and buy the poems and read them quietly and shut up , keep them locked away in your head and never use the adjective

    'awesome' until you encounter it.

  • Edward Hopper

  • wow... some of your poems really scare me. especially with your voice. its killin me.

  • ok i dont want any1 else leaving comments saying "His voice sounds stupid" because its billy collins, a very famous poet...and his voice is part of the reason for his fame. if u didnt what his voice sounded like be4 u clicked on this video then u dont know anything about poetry ...so hush and go play a video game

  • dude he was the national poet for years ...u obviously dont know anything about poetry ...and if the voice really bothers u then read the damn poem ...if ur relying to much on the voice to convey meaning when u should be using ur own head to understand the words themselves

  • to each their own

  • One of my favorites.

  • Hmmm...that table is the Last Supper without the old crowd. This is a twelve times better than RingTales. Okay, I'm subbing now.

  • If more people could share free choice, creativity would be booming. Helping others sometimes takes more from the one being helped. Let us open doors for others to walk by themselves.

  • The animation reminds me a lot of Janie Geiser's stuff... but with brighter lighting.

  • nice one!

  • Great video/poem makes me want to crawl under my cubicle desk and hide though

  • I think this is wonderfully done. What a beautiful way to make poetry alive. I can hear it breathing.

    Thanks!

  • The guy that wrote this poem narrates it. Collins is known for his deadpan narration.

  • A beautiful piece of visual poetry interrupted by a TV ad about killers. Great! Time to spend my time elsewhere.

  • i like this poem i just wish that the person reading it wouldn't sound so plain and emotionless

  • hey, its billy collins narrorating it. most people tink its good, actually...

  • its part of his image

kinda of a dismal eeire hunting voice thing...

    i love it

  • i love it too XD

  • do you really need a loud flashy voice and sparkly things top amuse you ?...go to the circus then

  • Love

  • thx. Julian Grey. The creaking sound in this animation enhances his poetry.

  • i know, and the wind, it is amazing...

  • oh no, you're not meant to 'get it'. its kind of imagination thing... where can it take you? tho i guess its different for veryone, form what you like about it.... its what it means to you, thats the beautiful thing... i've never heard the poem before tho.

  • I love the animation. Especially good when I've heard a poem before without an accompanying visual, so I form my own images, and then watching this adds another road to wander down.

  • maybe ur just not a person that can look deep enought into a poem and find its meaning sometimes poems could mean one specifice thing but to someone else it could mean somthing entirly diffrent

so dont worry not everyones a poet

  • some1 help me

    im not a poetry person

    THAT SUCKED!!!!!!

IT MAD NO SENSE WHT SO EVER!

  • that was great if billy collins could hear me right now it would be me clapping :]

  • wonderful video.

  • fucken awesome

  • This is my favorite poem by Billy Bollins.

  • I love Billy Collins, and I enjoyed the animations also, but I'm not sure I wish somebody else to create the pictures when I listen to a poem. One reason he might read slow, in addition to clarity: he is savouring the words :)

  • add me!!!

  • All of which proves the necessity to eat a very good breakfast - and have a velvet bowel movement as soon as possible thereafter.

  • would there be the written words, lyrics of these poets ?

i looked here but couldnt see

  • A brilliant mind-f*ck I love his poetry!

  • great.

  • Sum days just don't add up.

  • if someone just watched this one animated poem, you would probably think he was depressed but if you look at the others you realize he is just expressing the deep parts of himself. the beauty is how he can make it relate to the deep parts of others. it is what you call "being touched"

  • hmmm....... a little...well depressing.

  • Mr. Collins is amazing. His poems are far from being a depressive outburst... they are a celebration of Life, of the danger of being alive, and the thrill, and the spices which give the whole experience taste.... and the animations are a huge complement to the poetry!

  • remember to go outside and enjoy your life. this poet is not depressed, he is realistic

  • great, but the man who wrote this poems has a serious depression. it you who makes yourself feel locked up, i know it's hard to understand, but we create our own perspective in life ourselves to a large degree.

  • agree with u , it is hard , but ones u ve gone though it , it is such a relief for life ,no more depression , no more thoughts about your miserabilty or uslessly if u can say so , plz reply

  • I don't think that Billy is depress. The tone of the poem may seem that way (like all of his other poem) but if you can see beyond that then you will know what is he trying to say.

  • gots so much respect for billy. :)

  • Another good but weird one, Billy. You're the Rod Serling of poet-dom.

  • This poem is so deep.

  • i love billy collin's poetry. you're right , he's able to make simplicity so poetic. yay for cool vids to accompany them!

  • oh my gosh. im soo happy i found this channle

  • Really impressive! Thanks!

  • i love this style of poetry.its seems so simple, yet it flows with constant imagery

  • i couldn't agree with you more.

  • this poem reflect the circumstance I am in right now in my life...I think he's talking about how "somedays" we control other people's lives and other days someone else controls ours ....its a never ending struggle for sovereignty

  • love it!

  • wow grate job i love it

  • i am fixated on the images and the poetry. gosh, i feel small...real small. this is art. real art.

  • waaoh! love this guy's work

  • lol kinda creepy more mysterious i think tho all of your poems have that, your voice is interesting though, almost sounds like a computer.

  • this one was my favorite one...and the animation was alot better i realy liked it

  • about the govenment me thinks.

  • impressive. I really like his style and the subtlety of all the images.

  • I enjoyed it.

  • omg that was awesome, if i could meet this poet, i wounld be soooo happy

  • Very creepy.

At the end I thought the doll was gonna turn around and there would be, like, an evil look on his face.

  • Lol Ya Like the Dead Silence commercials

  • wtf is this shit ?

  • poetry lol

  • I love these story like poems

  • Wow. Impressive. Surreal. Recognizeable though :)

  • not bad...life is more important..isnt it?

  • really eery and beautiful, poetry isnt as good as the animation

  • Siempre da gusto escuchar poemas profundos y este definitivamente me cautivo muy buen trabajo por cierto el video esta exelente!

  • deep poem like how he compares people faces to plastic faces on dolls, he looks at us like toys so to speak. BRAVO

  • just like Magritte's paintings :)))

  • This is my favorite poem of his by far

  • Yo yo yo mad props on the tight wordage. East sieeede.

  • that was an excelent poem

  • This one's creepy. *shivers*

  • oh wow that was really good -- poem & animation -- ... both inda creepy but still good ^^;;

  • kinda creepy.. propz

  • that was a cool poem

  • Wonderful! I'm so inspired that poetry can have this kind of multiple layered experience!

  • Where can I find the written words to these poems by Billy? Because I am learning English and I do not understand everything he says, but if I see it written I will enjoy it a lot better. Thank you

  • To the right of the video there is a description of the video. Click on "(more)" and it will be in there.

  • Look for his poetry collections on Amazon: "Sailing Alone Around the Room," and "Nine Horses."

  • ta bueno

  • Magrittesque

  • I had a dream similar to this once..

  • Viejo ese video estubo genial, no le hagas caso a esos bastardos q escribieron antes, eres muy creativo, ya tienes un amigo en Costa Rica ;)

  • very existentialist

  • <sarcasm>Nope, doesn't seem creepy at all!</sarcasm>

  • man, that was really sarcastic.

  • i liked it but at the same time it was creepy.

  • ok like the others before me this scares the shit out of me.. that crazy feeling that creeps into ur body..thinking this guy is not normal..

  • i feel frightend...

  • that was cool but at the same time it scared the shit out of me

  • i have to agree with the poe comment, he does have the same melancholy effect on the reader.

  • I guess Billy's work would be more interesting to me smoked pot. Then again, maybe not.

  • Maybe you would be able to appreciate the poem if you were capable of writing a complete or coherent sentence of your own.
