Umm.... Not really. George Bush couldn't even give a normal speech. He set up several oil mines in Texas as governor and ended his presidency leaving America in debt. He was never intelligent. And of course you can dislike George Harrison, it's all a matter of opinion. Just don't trash him over and over again on every song. And your not all that "intelligent" either. If you were you would have noticed this was a song by George Harrison for George Harrison fans. Not HATERS! XP
@thegrinchl7 For starters, you don't know me. So you can't like or hate me. Second, a George Harrison "lover" would make more sense being here watching a George Harrison video than a George Harrison "hater". So "haters" are ridiculous. Mind you, I don't care what you think of me, I just needed to clarify certain aspects of your comment.
@thegrinchl7 1st I don't admire him, I don't get down on my knees for him. He just so happens to be great musician that I love and respect. 2nd You can't simply say their is a top and a bottom to The Beatles. They all had a different form of music. John was intense, Paul was happy, George was spiritual, and Ringo was more romantic. 3rd Anyone who practically lives on youtube and isn't a teenager isn't all that sophisticated either.
@thegrinchl7 I don't treat him like a god. And obviously my name is a declaration of my love for him because, unlike you, he's extremely talented AND good looking. FYI I'm 15. My visits to "YT" (can't you write out the whole word) is restricted to GOOD music. That's why I'm here. I actually am receiving an education from my school so I don't end up a troll on youtube who lives in his mom's basement and is a 40 year old unmarried virgin.
@FrlghtWolf Well if your visits are restricted to an uneducated fan base what are YOU doing here? I actually don't text, I have phone that I talk into. Don't stereotype, that's pathetic. I spell out "You Tube" and I still have room.
@FrlghtWolf I KNOW!!! Sheesh! That voice is screeching my ears and making them bleed. So, please! Stop talking so I can hear George Harrison's magical voice enchant my heart and so his lovely song can heal my bleeding ears that was caused by YOUR WEAK warbly voice. Thank you =D
@FrlghtWolf Your hypocrisy is the only thing worth fighting for when it comes to music. You preach that George Harrison has terrible music yet you listen to it every time you comment. "America", I used quotations since it's United States unless you're referring to the entire continent, is a diverse country for race, religion, and personality. Your ignorance of saying one taste of music is better than another is frowned upon.
@FrlghtWolf I'm not Mexican I'm simply logical. Even though Mexico has had several citizens move to United States it is still an independent country. Mozart is classically beautiful but that is all. It is in the classical genre that many don't appreciate. Some would argue that Mozart was quite boring. George Harrison was more spiritual and so if you compare him to someone compare him to someone in the same genre. It's like comparing Adele with Eminem. Invalid argument on both accounts.
@FrlghtWolf I never said I didn't enjoy Mozart. I simply stated that some people don't enjoy it. I myself listen to him to stimulate my mind before an exam or during my studies. It is illogical to assume a race simply from text. The only time you may say I'm Mexican is if I say I'm Mexican. Now that we have driven away from the subject of George Harrison and into the topic of my race there is no point to continue this conversation. Good day.
Why on earth do you even watch these videos if all your going to do is say bad stuff about the beatles and point out all George harrisons faults. I mean what have you got against him!!!
@TherealAnd21 - I'll tell you what: if you quit telling lies about George ("he was a genius" or "he's an equal to John and Paul") I'll quit telling the TRUTH about him. Deal?
This song is simply a pleasant break from the day. I recall hearing when I was starting college and those days were so wonderful. The video shows his snappy dress and dance moves-Haha. It always makes me feel good and smile, and that's what it accomplishes. Awesome and thanks. Peace always...

R.I.P. my great friend & inspiration to myself & everyone on earth who has grown up & followed you throughout The Beatles plus through & throughout your great solo career!!
@hualhayoc - People are growing tired of your people. Your awkward accents and mostly, the way your people are always the permanent UNDERCLASS. A lot of which comes from NOT mastering the language of the country of which you live. "Viva La Raza" often just causes others around you to just roll their eyes. @TwoUselessLegs Sure, he made some bad decisions regarding smoking. But is it really that bad that we hate George Harrison himself for something thousands of people do every day?
@McHarrLennonStarr - When YOU or ME or LeRoy Blunsky lights up a cigarette, we're just killing ourselves. When George Harrison of the Beatles lights up a cigarette there are thousands of young people watching...imitating. Besides, George looks like a damn jackass preaching health with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. No?
Ugh! Poor George. It's clear that his "sweet lord" never gave him much of a voice to sing with. Nor the ability to write good music. However, George is pretty good at PLAGIARIZING though!
@Icanhasoboe Yes, and it may be the same Gibson Les Paul he's playing in the "Revolution" promo; however, I think he mainly used a Stratocaster for slide guitar rather than a Gibson or his famous duo jet Gretsch.
This song always makes me feel good. George was such a beautiful man and you can see how fine he was in this video. it's a nod to Harold Sr. who passed away 5/1978 and the warmth is the joy of being a dad like Harold Sr. when Dhani was born some 3 months after Harold Sr. passed away.
George was such a beautiful man with thick, wavy hair.
Harrison started playing guitar at age 13, but only with the help of Paul McCartney did he get good enough to play in a band. Harrison idolized Lennon and McCartney and was happy to get in the band with them. He was not a fast or slick guitarist, but meaty and tasteful, known for making every note count on his guitar parts.
George Harrison wasn't overshadowed by Lennon or McCartney as he was also a major contributor to the Beatles overseas success, and harrison was already an accomplished writer, so let the man rest in peace.
I love this song. I also love how other Beatards act like any Beatle-related clip on YouTube is an opportunity to compete over "who's got the bigger dick" by regurgitating fun facts they learned from watching "Anthology" or "Living In The Material World". Thanks for enlightening us. I don't care. I just love this song.
LOL Notice how the other Beatles NEVER get "underrated" posted as a reason for their lack of popularity? "Underrated" is code for "why don't people like him like I do"?
It just kills me that this lp has ended up in the cut out bins and no one except for the die-hard fans praise it. I like it better than All Things Must Pass. Honestly.
@mege8524 totally agree. his fabulous at playing the guitar. and his songs are amazing. and yes, in my opinion george was the humblest of them all. i love him too :)
After watching that two part Scorsese documentary the last two nights I've come to realize something important about all of George's post acid compositions. All of them, including Something, at some level are about spirituality and God. It may not be very obvious at first but the songs that don't solely focus on his spiritual side still come back to it in the end. I'm still trying to figure out where that comes into play with "Set on You" where he mentions it taking money to so it right but
For a video which predated MTV by about 2 years, this is just so cool!
I remember this song from when I was 10 and it was played on the radio. I've always loved it, but this quirky video really adds to it somehow.
I also realize now just how much I miss Mr. Harrison even though I wasn't even a thought when the Beatles formed and was only a year old when they called it a day. =(
@FrightwoIf He wasn't trying to be as good as them. He was just doing what he loved, and writing whatever he wanted. If anything, he tried his best to NOT be Lennon/McCartney or Beatles-esque in any way.
for the record John (post-Beatles, naturally) frequently declared that the Beatles were overrated, unimportant etc. It's called revisionist history. That being said George has always been completely underrated as a musician - what a gifted guitarist and at times a brilliant songwriter.
Also - I think it is unfair to say he hid by religion - he was flawed and got angry etc. - he was flawed - he was a human being - can anyone claim to be perfect?
I don't deify any of the Beatles as individuals - though I think George is given short shrift as an artist and I still think that All Things Must Pass is the best solo Beatles' album (sorry but "Plastic Ono Band" is overrated and has not aged gracefully at all). Please just don't mistake what I'm saying as blind hero worship - I am too old for that crap - I just want to hear great music. Also - I'm not trying trying to start some flame war here - I'm too old for that crap also...
@libjr01 - As for "being perfect"...of COURSE George was flawed. That's all I've been telling his fans who insist he's made of marble and magic dust. The problem with George is one of egregious hypocrisy. He put himself on a lofty pedestal of his own making. What are we to think of a man who preaches ONE THING and then DOES ANOTHER? If he were a Wall Street CEO or Oil executive we'd likely want to hang him. What you would NEVER tolerate in others you tolerate in him? Why, because he's a Beatle?
Please provide actual examples of this "egregious hypocrisy" you reference. Is it because he had an ego yet was a staunch follower of Eastern spiritual beliefs which rejects the ego? Is it because of his "religious" beliefs and the fact that he still liked having (and obviously spending) money? Is it the sports cars? Is it because of his itterness of being overshadowed by Lennon and McCartney? What is it?
No - I'm "to old" to let myself be dragged into this kind of argument - which I should have known better. Fine, George was a hypocrite etc. You win! I really do like this song however...and in the end that's all that really matters to me.
@BL80488 I have forwarded "Dressys" hate speechs to You Tubes legal department for them to review his comments so they'll TERMINATE his account. He is a ruthless TROLL who has harassed me because I'm in a wheelchair and seems to think life is funny because paraplegic are confined to wearing diapers. PM me for more details.
I always thought that George wrote this for Olivia. He met her in 1974 when his marriage was coming apart and his career was on the downside, with his disastrous North American tour and falling record sales. But things picked up for him after they became a couple. He got a new record contract, had a hit album (33 1/3) and she gave birth to the son he wanted for years (his first wife was barren). By 1979, he was a very happy man.
George here essentially looks like Paul Calf. Yet Paul Calf looks like a scummy halfwit, while George looks totally awesome. I suppose that says everything about the magic of the man.
It's such a happy, beautiful song but it still makes me wanna cry. Guess it's just cos I miss George. Never met him of course but I feel like he was my friend.
Happy birthday! We still love you!!

ILoveGeorgeandDhani -Some of George's overzealous fans often
insist he was an equal to John Lennon musically. I think this is
absurd. The Beatles were never about GUITARS, they were about
great melodies, clever lyrics and some wonderful harmonies.
Except that they were all friends, both George and Ringo were
always easily replaceable. Calling George great because he
was associated with the Beatles is like calling a barnacle great
because it was stuck to the ship.

ILoveGeorgeandDhani 3 weeks ago
@ILoveGeorgeandDhani - You are painfully simple. It
doesn't take much to form an opinion about you. What
are we to think of a guy who admires a plagiarizer and a
hypocrite? Ironically in the Beatles you had, within the same
band, the TOP and the BOTTOM of musical extremes. If
John Lennon was the Mozart of modern music, then George
fills the BASEMENT. Anybody that gets on their knees to
admire the hapless George Harrison can't be all that
sophisticated!

@ILoveGeorgeandDhani - This conversation reminds
me of when conservatives used to TRY to say that
George W. Bush was "intelligent". They KNEW he
wasn't. I KNEW he wasn't. The whole world KNEW he
wasn't. Of course you can like George Harrison but
please don't tell me he's an important musician or that
he's a "great" singer. George might've been a Beatle
but so was Ringo. We both know Ringo and George
came along for the ride and only contributed support.

@FrlghtWolf You must need your ears cleaned. I bet you think Justin Bieber is a good singer.
I love this song, I think it's one of George's most melodic songs and it's a pick-me-up song.
AbbeyRoad52 2 weeks ago
@AbbeyRoad52- George's troubles with music are multi-layered.
This song might've yielded something far more interesting if, like
before...John and Paul had been around to fix and mend George's
offerings. George far too often relied on gimmicks. While his SLIDE
might've worked better with quiet restraint, George went back to it
over and over again until it became a cliche. More importantly, while
his high, warbly voice blended well with others it was never meant
for solo work.
FrlghtWolf 2 weeks ago
@FrlghtWolf what have you got against george harrison?
He was good singer, if you dont like his music why do you watch george harrison videos and load them with bad coments.
TherealAnd21 2 weeks ago
@TherealAnd21 - George was a "good singer"? Wow!
Look, you can argue that George harmonized well with
his friends and colleagues in the Beatles. You might even
say he did an "ok" job with his guitar (he didn't hurt the
Bealtes) but PLEASE don't tell us that he was a "good"
singer. My god, the weak, warbly voice of his probably
bothered him more than it did you or I. You know, we can
all feel sorry for George (he struggled with music) but
there's no need to LIE for him!
FrlghtWolf 2 weeks ago
@FrlghtWolf You didn't answer her question though. Why do you watch George Harrison videos and load them with negative comments?
ILoveGeorgeandDhani 2 weeks ago
@TherealAnd21-MEDIOCRITY is not a benign. It is
corrosive. It seeps through everything, from our schools
to our music. Fighting Harrison's hypocrisy and rinky-dink
music is important, if you love America! Every time we
hear John Denver, we ought to stand up and scream!
Every time we hear Neil Diamond, we should throw a
brick! Every time we hear a George Harrison tune, we
should riot in the streets! Well...assuming it is a Harrison
tune and not just something he plagiarized!
FrlghtWolf 2 weeks ago
@FrlghtWolf Your hypocrisy is the only thing worth fighting for when it comes to music. You preach that George Harrison has terrible music yet you listen to it every time you comment. dummycertification 2 weeks ago
@dummycertification - Only a Mexican would protest the
distinction (Canadians don't care). Using your logic, Mexico
itself could be called "the USA" since it is a collection of
states on the continent of "America". Since Mexico has
subjected itself to servitude to the USA, it forfeits any naming
rights. As for "taste": if most of the world agrees that Mozart is
"great", then it stands to reason that there must be an opposite/
& in-between. Thus, we have George Harrison.
FrlghtWolf 2 weeks ago
@FrlghtWolf I'm not Mexican I'm simply logical. Even though Mexico has had several citizens move to United States it is still an independent country. Mozart is classically beautiful but that is all. @Icanhasoboe Yes, and it may be the same Gibson Les Paul he's playing in the "Revolution" promo; however, I think he mainly used a Stratocaster for slide guitar rather than a Gibson or his famous duo jet Gretsch.

I like that cute model French bulldog George 'rides' in this video.

1vdn992 2 months ago
George Harrison wasn't overshadowed by Lennon or McCartney as he was also a major contributor to the Beatles overseas success, and harrison was already an accomplished writer, so let the man rest in peace.

I love this song. I also love how other Beatards act like any Beatle-related clip on YouTube is an opportunity to compete over "who's got the bigger dick" by regurgitating fun facts they learned from watching "Anthology" or "Living In The Material World". Thanks for enlightening us. I don't care. I just love this song.

progrocker69 4 months ago
Poor George. The more he tries to prove he's as good as Lennon and McCartney, the more he proves the opposite!
FrightwoIf 5 months ago
@FrightwoIf He wasn't trying to be as good as them. He was just doing what he loved, and writing whatever he wanted. If anything, he tried his best to NOT be Lennon/McCartney or Beatles-esque in any way.
Blaze1289 5 months ago
@Blaze1289 - Well, of course George SAID these
things but evidence suggests he cared a lot more
than he let on. Many of the videos on Youtube
reveal a man bitter about the Beatles, even going
so far as to call the Beatles "unimportant". George
always struggled with music. It did not come to him
easy like others. When the critics and fans lavished
praise on Lennon and McCartney and then ignored
him...he declared a kind of war. He hid behind religion.
So much for the "spiritual" Beatle!
FrightwoIf 5 months ago
@FrightwoIf I'm not going to debate over this. You can view it that way, and I'll view it the way I want to. To each their own.

@FrightwoIf
for the record John (post-Beatles, naturally) frequently declared that the Beatles were overrated, unimportant etc. It's called revisionist history. That being said George has always been completely underrated as a musician - what a gifted guitarist and at times a brilliant songwriter.
Also - I think it is unfair to say he hid by religion - he was flawed and got angry etc. - he was flawed - he was a human being - can anyone claim to be perfect?
libjr01 3 months ago 3
@libjr01 - Yes...you're right. John Lennon often dissed
the Beatles...or at least "the myth" (The Rolling Stones
Interviews). Still, I would give Mozart the latitude to diss
classical music or opera if HE were the one doing it.
That George Harrison, the junior member of the Beatles
would make commentary on them would be like the studio
janitor passing judgement. I will tell you honestly I think
George is a product of the HALO EFFECT that John and
Paul and producer George Martin created.
FrightwoIf 3 months ago
Continuation:
I don't deify any of the Beatles as individuals - though I think George is given short shrift as an artist and I still think that All Things Must Pass is the best solo Beatles' album (sorry but "Plastic Ono Band" is overrated and has not aged gracefully at all). Please just don't mistake what I'm saying as blind hero worship - I am too old for that crap - I just want to hear great music. Also - I'm not trying trying to start some flame war here - I'm too old for that crap also...
libjr01 3 months ago
@libjr01 - As for "being perfect"...of COURSE George was flawed. That's all I've been telling his fans who insist he's made of marble and magic dust. The problem with George is one of egregious hypocrisy. He put himself on a lofty pedestal of his own making. What are we to think of a man who preaches ONE THING and then DOES ANOTHER? If he were a Wall Street CEO or Oil executive we'd likely want to hang him. What you would NEVER tolerate in others you tolerate in him? Why, because he's a Beatle?
FrightwoIf 3 months ago
@FrightwoIf
What is it?
libjr01 3 months ago
@libjr01- Interesting. You're "too old" for this crap?
Implying, of course an experienced common sense kind
of guy. Yet,this same guy needs to have someone hold his
hand and explain why George's copious lectures against
MATERIALISM (while living in a 120 room mansion)
constitutes hypocrisy? This same guy can't quite figure
out why George's lectures on HEALTH (while smoking 6
packs of cigarettes a day) deserves any attention at all.
Hey, aren't you "too old" to be intellectually dishonest?
FrightwoIf 3 months ago
No - I'm "to old" to let myself be dragged into this kind of argument - which I should have known better. Fine, George was a hypocrite etc. You win! I really do like this song however...and in the end that's all that really matters to me.
cheers,
libjr01

it would be funn to see what the 1981 film, Arthur, would be like if Dudley Moore was replaced by George Harrison.
