this "nigga" here trippin' he dont seem to get what NAS's aim was with the whole album. he lookin' at it from a "basic" stand-point where it seems he cant read into the message NAS was tryin' to portray like wit' ALOT of NAS's songs they tend to go over ppl's heads i dont know who this nigga is never heard of him but he aint understandin' NAS points in the album like ol' dude below me said @ThisIsLoozyWoozy NAS IS bein' misinterpreted
everybodys slating this dude but nas himself said he didnt totally think it through properly before he unleashed that "nigger" album. theres a video on you tube somewhere with him saying that very thing.
he sounds like a hater to me. too many celebs become millionaires and stop addressing real issues...thats why hip hop is in the condition its in. name another multi-platinum artist that would even have had the courage to do what nas did? in the end, malcom x apologized to king jr for attacking his method of trying to make a positive change. this dude need to study his lessons
the fat prick can't articluate himself without swearing then frowns upon NaS. Shame on him. I wonder if he actually listened to the album to know what NaS is actually talking about and not just basing it on a stupid 1 minute blurb.
I LOVE NAS and the Untitled album, and think I cee what he was gettin at. BUT NYOIL is 100% correct. None of us alive has lived thru the the shit that our ancestors did for that word! NO DOUBT. NY Oil, is a soldier, & I love him for that.
I honestly know where you're coming from rebel and I respect that. I am not trying to hate on NY OIL's views in any shape or fashion because he does mean well and seeks change just like the rest of us. What I want everyone out there reading this to understand is that he is just oblivious to the double meaning behind why Nas made the Latina and the Asian girls wear the shirts as well. It was not a matter of a fashion statement or anything towards publicity out of spite or ignorance.
What NY OIL fails to realize is that although African Americans of this generation (and of future generations to come) may not really understand the true meaning behind the word "nigger" as he describes in his speech, NY OIL does not understand that Nas was making a statement beyond reaching out to not only just the African American community, but sympathizing with the struggles of Asians, Latinos and other immigrants out there being treated like "niggers" through their own accordance (cont'd)
which tie into their struggles relating to the pain African Americans feel through racism. I myself am a 23 year old Asian American male born and raised in northern Chi Town and am willing to state that I have been stopped by the cops with my friends during my high school days for rocking hoodies and baggy jeans in our predominantly Mexican and Cambodian neighborhood just for fitting police suspicion of being a possible, "threat to society" due to our outer appearance. (cont'd)
This was almost a daily event for us (or whenever the cops decided to intervene) and even my own people (Asian Americans in the city) have been accustomed to putting our hands up in the air and being checked with our hands spread out on the hood of a police car for no apparent reason whatsoever. Do you understand now, NY OIL? Nas is the voice of many, a self fulfilled urban prophet, a hero of our generation.
hmm. Let exam the word N.I.G.G.E.R for a min. Yes it was directed at our ancestors in the most derogatory fashion. Yes, when they protested for what they felt was right, they were beat with that word thrown at them. And yes, I don't have a direct connection with it, but that don't mean I don't care. Before it was used on black people, it was NIGER which is latin for the color black, with no racism intended. Then it was used on slaves because of the color of skin, then the word changed to nigger

you people are dumb nas fans.
I like nas but he was wrong.
most of these people talking must be wiggers.
he is talking To HIS PEOPLE.
he is talking about blacks that must advance and not stay in a messed up mentality.
Listen to his words, and if you are white and you want to call him stupid then you are calling martin luther king a stupid. And i know he isnt.
