  • Hey! Where's the blind chick that sings?

  • Nothing else need be said... It takes a life time of dedication.. Truely amazing..

  • hej, Mr, Terry är mycket duktig på vibra han har varit min idol i över 50 år

    Ronny Svensson sweden

  • For some reason i like Terry's vibe playing with the two mallets better than someone like Gary Burton who uses four mallets. Maybe it's the hand speed and the fast notes he can play but as a drummer i seem to like this sound better.

  • The tune is 'What's New'.

  • hey all of you Terri Gibbs fans:

She will be headlining at a FREE concert on new years eve

at Aldersgate UMC in augusta, ga. Please call 706.733.4416 for more information

  • Terri and Terry.

  • I like his old stuff a lot. Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson and Terry Gibbs are all in a class of their own.

And as far as I am concerned most definitely Hall Of Fame material.

  • ... und keiner erwähnt nur einmal mal

die Radio-Rias Berlin BigBand, die ums überleben

    kämpfte und aufgelöst wird/wurde.

  • Somebody's knocking...

  • If I was a young man in the 1950, I would have loved his music. Well, I just recently learned of Terry Gibbs, what a great artist very talented. Long live Terry Gibbs and God Bless.

  • Terry Gibbs knows his music and how to creatively play the vibes. To say that he swings is clearly an understatement. Bravo for Terry, a stellar performance. Thank you for the posting. There is no need to debate about determining the value of the number of notes being played. Listen to the artist and enjoy the sound, rhythm, and soul. Enough said.

  • Vibist Terry Gibbs,,,What a great, swinging jazz musician! As a 16 year old kid just starting to dig the music I saw Terry w pianist Terry Pollard at the Terrace Lounge, East St Louis,,,about 1953. Ive seen him numerous times since then and his technique amazingly is consistently better than the previous time. Viva Terry Gibbs.

  • Too many damn people with the same name Terry/Terri Gibbs.

  • Terry Gibbs Dream Band Volume 6 the greatest band ever. Check it out.

  • I've got all the Dream Band recordings and think that west coast band one of the best and most exciting of all the contemporary big bands since the late 50s!

  • As the one who posted the video I would kindly ask all involved persons not to debate who's English is better!

Als derjenige, der diese Video geliefert hat, bitte ich alle Beteiligten höflichst, nicht darüber zu debattieren, wessen Englisch besser ist!

  • Fantastic! Rene Laanen

  • Thats OK ,I really should learn English Spelling and Grammer. Do you know Dave Samuels, if not find in Google.

  • I was not familiar with Dave Samuels. I looked him up on Google. It says he has played with many groups. My favorite vibe player, however, is Gary Burton.

  • Was he the one who "bent" notes? I know his name ,but can't remaber his style. I loved Lyonel Hampton(and his humming along) and Milt Jackson.

  • Yes, I believe that is true. I saw him play in Chicago years ago. He would "bend" the note by striking the bar with one mallet, and then slide the other mallet on the bar, causing the tone to drop. It would be the same effect as a saxophone or trumpet player bending the note downwards.

  • I have seen NZ Peter Woods doing the same, he also is a very good musician, whatever solo he plays feeds your heart. thankyou, keep in touch.

  • Too many notes, does he still have to proove how fast he can moove?

  • learn to spell and then you can critique someone like Terry Gibbs. Dickhead!

  • sorry at 69 after 35 years inNZ away from Germany, I still struggle with english spelling, what has that got to do that I think Milt Jackson could say more with a 3rd of notes. Do you play music?? That Terry Gibbs is a worldclass player is known. But I stick

to less is more(more heart). But thanks for pointing

to my spelling weekness. Hermann (c:

  • It is an old debate in jazz: more notes versus less notes. Does less say more? Does more say less? This particular piece is a showcase piece so you expect Gibbs to be all over the bars. Also, the vibraphone is one of those instruments that lends itself to percussive type playing just by the nature of the instrument. I think it is basically a philosophical argument and in the end it boils down to a matter of taste.

  • Ihr Englisch ist angemessen. Seine Weisen sind unverschämt.

  • Your comments are OK. I apologize. My German is not good. I meant to say that other fellow was rude.
