  • can a highfin platy breed witha not highfin platy?

  • No worries. They will breed with any type of platy - they're not fussy.

  • can these things really have 112 babies at a time?

  • Maybe in their lifetime but not in one sitting.

  • @pondguru ok good because i only have 20 gal tank and there cant be that many of them in there

  • hey..i have 2 platy fish ..and i think they must have babyes in theyr belly.. could anywone help me if i post a picture or movie? please..

  • No worries. If you upload one, just send it to me.

  • you suck

  • does your shop sell them cause i could pop up and maybe buy if i need this ?

  • We generally have some high fins in stock but it is always advisable to phone the shop on 01661 844 005 to check prior to travelling as our stock changes daily.

  • well that is pets at home for you they just sell you anythinng i only went there because we were heading that otherwise i would of went to my local petshop instead and how does a breeding tank cost

  • The type of breeding nets / tanks that fit into an existing aquarium usually range from £4 to £7

  • i think my sunset platy gave birth and i have the only one fry in this breeding net i bought and i was wondering what should i feed it and should i put the female in with the fry ??

  • Apologies for the late reply, I've just got back from holiday. I always find it better to have a heavily planted tank for livebearers than have a seperate breeding net. Crushed flake should be fine to feed fry.

  • @lakej9

For foture fry drops, get some bushy live plants like hornwort should give them a place to hide and they'll live the first few weeks off of micro junk that grows on the plants. my fry are all free swimming in 2 weeks (about 4 batches in the last 2 months). I probably lose a bit, but the ones that do grow, grow healthier and faster

  • I used to have the guppies that were orange all over, and had black fins, is there a name for them??

  • Sunset?

I'm no expert on the various strains - so that's a guess.

  • where is this aquarium at im in london eastham

  • We are based about 10 miles west of Newcastle in north east England.

  • thanks do u do home delivery of live stock cause you have a load of variety than here

  • We do and the next day delivery charge is £12.95. The fish are sent in an insulated box with a heat pack or two depending on weather. If you send me a message or contact me from the shop website I can e-mail you a full price/stock fish list for you to look through. It was just updated a couple of days ago.

  • I wanna get one of these but every time I go to the pet store, the ones they have are always infected with ick -_-

  • We sometimes have fin damage/fungal problems with this species but once they are settled they are fine.

Any whitespot on fish is usually brought on by stress or poor water conditions.

  • Yeah.. I know how ick works.

  • Just pointing out that if you see fish in a central sytstem with an infestation, the fish in the other tanks can't be too good either.

  • i cant seem to find high fin or blue wag platy here were i live for my aquariums :(

  • I hear people saying that they can't get this or that species in the tropical fish sections of US shops which I find strange. Its maybe because many of the unusual species are developed in Europe - I don't know.

  • They're so lovely. I bought one today from Petsmart that's high fin. It was the only one left too XD.
