This is some video - a vintage hydraulic hauling a modern freight ! I'm not sure how it came about that the Western got involved but it's certainly great to see. I was surprised though that the driver didn't give you lineside photters any hornage considering how unique the train was...
Can you get the train sent my way next time, the 6M60 to Bescot would be just fine... !
@DownGrand1967 .i know the driver .robin gould .he has a colas 47 named after him robin of templecombe ..he do,snt give it much on the horns .he transfered from the somerset and dorset .in 1966 .to westbury .he drove westerns until they finished .hes now an inspector for colas .he still lives in westbury .
whenever this fine machine runs local to me .i never miss it. to think that its very nearly 33 years since these majestic machines were banished by br .D1015 .has only been back for 8 years .but it sure has travelled the uk .but myself i love to see it work in the west country .where it belongs .
Phooeey! Superb footage - love the way it crosses the junction - and wow - that zoom is phenomenal! PS Thanks for your comments on my vid! Mutual appreciation!
The Silver Bullets special, brilliant. I saw it the day it was posted and thought wow! how did he get there and film that when I did not even know it was happening 5* And it was like it was on T.V!
@60103Henry i,ll tell you why .because those silver bullets would have been at quidhampton for a while probably with brakes seized on .and colas wanted a loco with the guts to move them .so they utiliesed the 1000 .rather than there inferior duffs
2009 has certainly been a great year for the roving Whizzo, hasn't it? Her continually ground-breaking adventures on the mainline, and now this! Quite a fantastic catch there.
Hoping to see D1015 again on her penultimate railtour working for 2009 up at Buxton later in the month. For now, great clips. 5*

Hey is this an ALCo-based loco? It sounds almost like our WDM3A class locos, which are ALCo-based.
Nice video, keep it up!
