If you were farming Metal Mantis or Dark Knights before fighting Lamian Naga (it was Hexas' JP name), you can get Gauntlets, which provides higher evasion. With these, you can't be hit by the pygmus glare!
The battle itself was simple. I had Zult's Blade (gigas sword) on the boy. Spam energy ball (moon energy) on the boy, and keep slashing with criticals! Same methods can be used for the last Mech Rider.
Yes, if you miss an orb, the next time you get one of that sort, you get it multiple times, once for each orb missed. Just hope there will be another one of that sort. I missed the whip and axe orbs in the emperors castle, and there are no new whip orbs after that, so I had to restart to get that one (was playing on the cartridge and just using one save slot). When I realised I was one orb short, I was really furious. XD

Maybe you got the best armor you can buy but there are some serious Rare armor you find in Pure land and the Fortress. When I was little I played alot and got to 930 hp but still didn`t find all the armor but I did found some cool ones!

With Hexus there isn't really a clear cut strategy to her. If you charge weapons you get dispelled. You will always get pygmized. You can spam magic but she has no weakness. It's sort of an anything goes type battle. Perhaps it is a healing check of some sort with the pygmizing.
As for Gestaur, Thanatos actually revived him from the dead (as it reveals in the enhanced version of the game).

Good to see an unique boss, but throwing out yet another Mech Rider seemed rather unimaginative..though, I didn't know that Pure Land existed in this game as well.
JB's "Uhoh!" and "Meow!" interjections were hilariously well-placed..
But yeah, the first boss has a very high avoid stat. You need to make sure the "first hit" from the spinning attack doesn't occur while he's stunned from another attack too.
Hey HC, do you know if sealing the seeds on the sword actually does anything combat-wise? I mean they're there for story purposes, but do they make the sword do more damage? Just wondering.
It might be a liiiitle too late to say this, but Dispel Magic DOES destroy Wall... Or are you just not using it so that you won't be tempted to abuse spells?

The seeds increased the maximum level for our magic. They do nothing for the sword.

Regarding Trees having burst power, I can refer you to Earthbound which has Tree enemies. They burst into flames when you kill them.
I guess they get real hot and spontaneously combust or something.
