I just bought Flight 666, the DVD, and I couldn't agree more... Janick is really so so in my opinion. And Maiden is my favourite band, but to me he is really a level below Adrian and Murray. Thing is, he's still in Maiden 'cuz he's part of its history.

He is talking about the end of times, the apocalypse. He is using the Four Horseman ("hellrider") from the book of Revelations in the Bible.

Many prophecies of endtimes talk about a time of hell before a heaven on earth. The age of aquarius is the supposeded heaven, so the dark side is the little apocalypse right before. This song is mostly biblical, but also incorporates other end times prophecies.
