Sorry but, i do not agree with that assesment. I have seen both ringu and the ring several times, and i would have to say that the american version is a lot better. The soundtrack, as you mentioned, is phenomenal, The locations excellent, I love the color filters used, and the acting is better in my opinion. The people who made the american remake did an excellent job modifying ringu to better fit american taste in my opinion.

This was beautifully done. The Ring wasn't a serious remake (shot-by-shot). It's a good thing they added extra new scenes that wasn't in the original. That's why I love both original and remake!

@Twilightsucksalotful, i agree with you so far as to say that the movie could have been alot better. but i would not go so far as to say it sucked, we have to remember two things,
1. this is a remake and remakes are almost never as good as the original
2. the original is a japanese horrror film (as you said) and the japanese are the masters of horror.

if you look at the american one as its own film it is acctualy pritty good . at least IMO

This was beautifully done. The Ring wasn't a serious remake (shot-by-shot). It's a good thing they added extra new scenes that wasn't in the original. That's why I love both original and remake!

@Kazesuna2 I have you beat, and this is no joke... the first time I saw this movie was with my ex-girlfriend, and I started fingering her moments before it lead up to this sequence. Well, when it actually got to the bit where the stupid ass horse leapt over the ferry, I fucking lost it laughing, which lead to my girlfriend shoving my hand away in a massive rage, and then proceeded to up and leave the room.
that fucking horse ruined my evening.

If anyone of you think this is funny you should really GET A LIFE. I know it's a film and everything, but a horse dying due to a stupid and idiotic woman isn't something to laugh at- and the fact that the water current got it stuck in the boat motor isn't nice either. If you had a horse and this happened to it, would you be laughing?!

in reality the horse would survive. Horses are amazing swimmers, no matter what the ocean current is. so this scene cant happen in real life.

@fraroc I think the horse was killed by the propellers. Also, ithe horse crashed its head with the ship hull, so it could not have swim properly.

@Twilightsucksalotful, i agree with you so far as to say that the movie could have been alot better. but i would not go so far as to say it sucked, we have to remember two things,
1. this is a remake and remakes are almost never as good as the original
2. the original is a japanese horrror film (as you said) and the japanese are the masters of horror.
so it is unfair to compaire the two films.
if you look at the american one as its own film it is acctualy pritty good . at least IMO

this is sad even if it is fake. I dont think the horse just jumped because she was trying to touch it. It probably sensed Samara on her or something and either wigged out and fell off the boat, or it was sort of mind controlled into doing it. Idk.

I watched this movie right before I went to a horse show where we had to take a ferry and it scared the crap out of me I remember. They packed the cars in so tight though no way a horse could ever get out of the trailer.

that is one of the most beautiful horses i have ever seen and she went and killed it, not to mention the fact that it was about $60,000 and it could jump about 5'6 (or more) and it was really well bread but go ahead and freak it out and make it kill it's self stupid ass!!!(i love white people but come on really why is it the one white girl happens to see this one horse on this one day and kills it because of ONE!!! tape...?) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...T___T!!!
