My mom told me she saw this sign off film in 1976. She said that at 11pm was Dark Shadows , then Love, American Style, and then i believed the station signed off after that.
(PART 1) I'd like to know if I'm correct or not on what the sign-off script would've been in the last year or so of Field ownership: "This concludes our program service today. We welcome your comments with regard to our programming. Address your correspondence to Gerald R. Walsh, President and General Manager, WLVI-TV, Post Office Box 56, Boston, Massachusetts 02101. ...
(PART 2) ...WLVI is located at 75 Morrissey Boulevard in Boston, with our transmitter in Needham. Our microwave transmission link is KMN-79. WLVI, Channel 56, is a member of the National Association of Broadcasters and a member of the Association of Independent Television Stations. Some of today's programming has been mechanically reproduced. ...
(PART 3) ...WLVI is owned and operated by Field Communications, A Field Enterprises Company. Other Field Communications stations serve Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Until tomorrow morning, when we return to the air, WLVI wishes you a pleasant good night and good morning. And now, our national anthem." Possibly an audio may tell the tale?
I used to stay up late at night just to see this.

Was that a Muslin Sermon in the middle of the sign-off?
CelesteK 4 years ago
They rotated these; The others were a Catholic Priest and a Rabbi, as I remember.

Like 'VintageTelevision,' perhaps?

I heard Tom Evans has passed on which is a shame. I'll always associate his voice with WLVI and Creature Double Feature.
I hope someone out there digs up more 56 stuff and especially Creature Double Feature.
