Look, I'm an American and I think it' totally hilarious! What do you mean we can't take a joke? Not ALL Americans are like that - so, to you Europeans, do NOT stero type us! The majority of us DO have quite a good sense of humor!

Fake:
BB-67 USS MONTANA
The name Montana was assigned to BB-67 on 28 December 1940; but construction of the Montana -class battleship by Philadelphia Navy Yard, Philadelphia, Pa., was canceled 21 July 1943, before her keel was laid.
On a nit-picking note, the ship seen crashing through the waves at the start of the clip is actually a British Type 42 Destroyer and at only about 4,000 tons I somehow doubt it would be the second largest ship in the north atlantic fleet, be that British or American. Just needed to set the record straight. I will shut up now!
Wrong. This really happened, but it was Oct. 10 1995 off the coast of Kerry. It was a British ship - the aircraft carrier HMS Britainia - and an Irish lighthouse.
no serious, it did really happen, but not nowadays but in wwII or so i think. look it up on the web. it's an old story that circled the web some years ago
No, we're just honest and open-minded enough that we're able laugh out ourselves, friend. It's a nice alternative to being ANGRY and SELF RIGHTEOUS about everything. You should try it sometime.
I bet they really showed them when the USS Montana smashed itself up on a bunch of rocks. By god this is the US of A and no damn amount of inertia or mass is gonna get in our way!
I love my country. But, I in comformation to the video would have systematically destroyed the light house and the ground it lies on to continue course...we are the U.S. what would you expect!
The joke is only about 80 years old, but well executed.

Seriously, you euronerds need to create some kind of relevant culture. Than you might be respected. So sad.

Europe has many distinct and fascinating cultures. They are relevant, ever heard of the European Union. Yea, it's kind of a big deal.

This story has been around since post-WWII. It's been changed many times over so the boat belongs to whatever nationality they want to talk down.

title would be better, if it was actually the US, and not the english. submitter's a dumbass.

We were tired of being so open minded all those years. Since Communism fell, we all have been looking for something to do.

It happened in the 1950's, and it happened off the coast of Canada during wargames.
The story was originally in a US Navy magazine.
