  • félicitations ...

  • omg i played this in my concert band when i was a freshman! it sounded so good i love it! sadly im a senior i wish we can all play it all again :(

  • It is indeed slow. What i am going to say is probably prepostrous, but the National Phylharmonic Orcestra of Mexico renders a faster, more dynamic version. I thought sardar referred to some sort of harvest...

But regardless, this masterpiece is a favourite in higher stratta Latin American circles.

  • This is an old Armenian song the melody is very vivid from my schooling days. where is Sardar?

  • Sardar is not a place. The Sardar was (is) a local bigwig in many of the Caucasian societies. Ippolitov-Ivanov composed this after watching one of them ride into town with his retenue.

  • I think your right, I must have been mistaken but in his Caucasian works he wrote a plethora of multi-ethnic pieces and one of them was Armenian.

  • in Armenia

  • I remember playing this in HS. But these guys are so much better sounding than I can remember my orchestra ever being. Nicely done! Brings back memories and such pleasure to hear it done right.

  • this sounds so slow!
